Where We Are Going Today: ‘SoMatcha' cafe in Riyadh
Known for its distinct umami flavor and its abundance of powerful antioxidants, matcha, which originates in China and Japan, is a finely grounded green tea powder that can be prepared hot or cold.
There are two types of matcha — ceremonial and culinary grade. Ceremonial grade matcha is naturally sweet and is a rich green shade, whereas culinary is light yellow-green and can be bitter.
SoMatcha uses ceremonial grade matcha, giving their beverages the beautiful forest green color.
On entering the cafe, you are greeted with the delicious smell of matcha and the many flavors: Original, rose, lavender, and a sweet secret recipe.
My favorite drink is their iced matcha latte with vanilla cream foam. The velvety smooth foam is like a sweet cloud, followed by the refreshing matcha latte.
For a lighter drink that will provide ample energy, try the matcha fuel; pure matcha with a shot of water and ice is earthy and delicious.
Launched in 2021 by Saudi businesswoman Yara Al-Namlah, SoMatcha has grown into an online website and has three locations in the capital: In King Salman Neighborhood, Rabwah and An Nada district.

Tucked away inside Le Meridien in Alkhobar, Fusion is an upscale dining experience that blends refined hospitality with a well-curated menu. We kicked things off with the bread basket: A warm selection of freshly baked rolls, each one slightly crisp on the outside and fluffy within. The rolls were served with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sun-dried tomato paste, and a side of butter — simple, elegant, and full of flavor. Then came the surprise star of the night: the seafood soup. With a perfectly balanced consistency and deeply rich flavor, it was the kind of dish that makes you rethink your stance on seafood altogether. I do not usually go for fish-heavy starters, but I would return to Fusion for this soup alone. Next up was the sushi platter. It was an elaborate, artful presentation that arrived in a wooden boat overflowing with color and texture. From the crispness of the tempura rolls to the melt-in-your-mouth sashimi, every bite was fresh with zero fishy aftertaste. The drawback? The lighting does not do the presentation justice, and I wish the establishment had an Instagram account or at least a more organized menu for browsing. For mains we opted for the grilled salmon and steak. Both were tender, flavorful, and plated with precision. Dessert sealed the deal. We went for a classic tiramisu and a mini apple pie, with espresso. It felt like the perfect end to a luxurious yet unpretentious meal. Fusion might be understated in terms of its online presence, but do not let that fool you. The experience is top-tier. This is a place that lets the food and service speak for themselves.

Manga Productions Signs Deal to Launch ‘Sonic' Game in Middle East
Manga Productions has signed a publishing and distribution agreement with Japanese company Sega to launch the popular game Sonic Racing: Crossworlds for MENA audiences, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The Saudi company will collaborate with Sega to deploy the game in the Middle East and North Africa region. The cooperation will also include invaluable opportunities for Saudi talent to take part in the publishing process, as well as marketing the game. Interestingly, the game offers extensive vehicle customization options when it comes to appearance and performance, as well as items granting special abilities that impact gameplay style. Moreover, it supports online multiplayer, so that players can compete globally, climb leaderboards and earn exclusive rewards. The game features a record-breaking roster of 23 characters, with plans set to expand further through post-launch updates. Such updates will boast characters such as Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona 5 Royal, Ichiban Kasuga from Like a Dragon, along with popular characters from franchises such as Minecraft and SpongeBob SquarePants, among others.
