Trump Calls Ukraine War ‘Ridiculous', Blames Biden: 'Should Never Have Happened'
US President Donald Trump described the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict as a 'ridiculous war" and blamed his predecessor Joe Biden. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Donald Trump said he had been informed that nearly 20,000 Russian soldiers died in July 2025 alone.
'Russia has lost 112,500 soldiers since the beginning of the year. That is a lot of unnecessary DEATH!" Donald Trump wrote, adding that Ukraine has also lost approximately 8,000 soldiers since January 1, excluding those missing. He noted civilian casualties as well, saying, 'Ukraine has also lost civilians, but in smaller numbers, as Russian rockets crash into Kyiv and other Ukrainian locales."
Calling the war 'a tragedy that should never have happened," Donald Trump said, adding, 'This is Biden's War, not TRUMP's. I'm just here to see if I can stop it!"
Zelenskyy Welcomes Trump's Push For Peace
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, 'We see and support President Trump's @POTUS efforts to end Russia's war, to stop the killing and to achieve a dignified and lasting peace. We are grateful to everyone around the world who supports peace efforts and helps us protect lives." Zelenskyy reaffirmed Ukraine's willingness to hold direct talks with Russia 'at the level of leaders at any time," provided the Kremlin demonstrates genuine intent toward ending the conflict.
Earlier, senior US diplomat Sarah Kelley told the UN Security Council that the Donald Trump administration expects a ceasefire agreement to be reached by August 8. Sarah Kelley said, 'It is time to make a deal. The United States is prepared to implement additional measures to secure peace."

Nancy Mace Launches 2026 Gubernatorial Bid In South Carolina With Bold Agenda
The 2026 Republican primary for governor is shaping up to be highly competitive. Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace officially announced her candidacy for governor of South Carolina on Monday, entering the 2026 race with a fiery speech and an ambitious 10-point agenda. Speaking before a crowd of supporters, Mace declared that her campaign would offer a 'roadmap to rebuild South Carolina from the ground up," vowing to bring bold leadership and reform to the Palmetto State. 'South Carolina is tired of politicians who smile for the cameras, lie to your face, and then vanish when it's time to lead," Mace said during her campaign launch, as reported by CNN, adding, 'I'm running for governor because South Carolina doesn't need another empty suit." Mace, currently serving her third term in the US House of Representatives, laid out a wide-ranging agenda in an interview with the Associated Press. Her priorities include overhauling the criminal justice system, eliminating the state's income tax, and expanding protections for women and children. Education reform also features prominently, with Mace pushing for greater school choice and an expansion of vocational training options. A notable element of her campaign announcement video included footage of President Donald Trump praising her as a 'fighter," a nod to their evolving political relationship. Once a vocal critic of Trump, particularly in the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol riot, Mace has since become one of his allies, endorsing him during the 2024 GOP primaries. Mace has also positioned herself as a staunch advocate for women's rights. In a May congressional hearing on non-consensual recordings, she revealed a naked silhouette image allegedly taken without her consent by her ex-fiancé. Simultaneously, she has taken conservative stances on other gender-related policies, including support for banning transgender women from using women's restrooms at the Capitol. The 2026 Republican primary for governor is shaping up to be highly competitive. Mace will face several prominent GOP figures, including Attorney General Alan Wilson, Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette, state Senator Josh Kimbrell, and US Rep. Ralph Norman. Governor Henry McMaster, a Republican, is term-limited and will not seek reelection. Mace has already taken aim at Wilson, accusing him of neglecting his duty to protect women and children. In February, she publicly claimed that Wilson ignored evidence of sexual misconduct involving her ex-fiancé and other men, alleging a broader failure of accountability. Congress leaders speak in different voices on Trump's tariff threat
Congress leaders on Monday spoke in different voices on the issue of U.S. President Donald Trump's latest comment on imposing higher tariffs for buying Russian oil. 'So much for Howdy Modi. So much for Namaste Trump. So much for Ab ki Baar Trump Sarkar. So much for BJP MPs hailing Narendra Modi as India's trump card,' party's communications chief Jairam Ramesh posted on X. 'This is what happens when foreign policy becomes about image building, not national interest,' Mr. Ramesh added. His party colleague, Manish Tewari, tagging President Trump on X, asked the American President not to lose his sleep over it. 'We have enough resilience as a nation to withstand your Tariff threat,' he added. Former Union Minister Anand Sharma noted that the U.S. President's comments on 'India and its economy was belittling and unacceptable'. 'As the fourth largest economy, India has resilience & inherent strength to engage with the world on principles of equality & mutual respect,' Mr. Sharma posted on X.
