25 Bangladeshis arrested for staying with fake documents in Tamil Nadu
They were caught in a surprise joint operation led by a special team reporting to the district police superintendent, the Q Branch, and the Palladam police. Following the crackdown, all the 25 Bangladeshi nationals were handed over to Palladam police and arrested under the Foreigners Act.
A police team, acting on a tip-off, rounded up the labourers at RM Nagar in Kunnagalpalayam near Palladam on Wednesday night. They were staying in row houses rented by one Poongodi, who usually rents houses to migrants working at knitwear units in the vicinity. Of them, 20 workers had joined the unit five months ago, and the remaining five had been in the export unit for the last three years, police said.
We seized bogus documents from them. They had obtained Aadhaar cards by submitting fake documents and subsequently moved to Tiruppur, police added.
The labourers were booked under Sections 3(2)(c) and 14 of the Foreigners Act. They will be remanded to the Puzhal prison in Chennai, police said.
This is the second instance of a large number of Bangladeshi nationals being arrested in Tiruppur district this year. So far, 61 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested from the Palladam police limits this year, according to the police.

Lucknow: The UP Special Task Force (STF) on Sunday dismantled a cybercrime racket operating from Mira Road, Thane, Maharashtra. Two miscreants, Mohammad Iqbal Balasaheb (47) and Shine Iqbal Balasaheb (42), were arrested for their involvement in orchestrating a complex scam involving fake "digital arrests" and forged documents. The gang posed as officers from various law enforcement agencies, including police, narcotics, and crime branches, and defrauded victims of large sums of money using fake investigations. The accused were arrested following a detailed investigation, which revealed a widespread operation involving the use of deepfake techniques, manipulated documents, and fake video calls to extort money from their victims. The STF recovered several items, including three mobile phones, two laptops, seven pen drives, three hard disks, six ATM cards, and two Aadhaar cards. ASP, STF, Vishal Singh said that the investigation began when Dr BN Singh, a senior academic, filed a complaint on April 6, after receiving a WhatsApp call from a person identifying himself as Deepak Kumar Srivastava from a fictitious logistics company. ASP Vishal Vikram Singh, who led the investigation, said that using cyber forensic tools and human intelligence, STF traced the suspects to their Mira Road address.

Meth worth Rs 49L seized from two near Bhakti Circle in A'bad
Ahmedabad: The city's Special Operations Group (SOG) on Saturday seized 489.410 grams of suspected methamphetamine worth Rs 49 lakh and arrested two persons near Bhakti Circle on the Ring Road-Nikol stretch. The FIR was lodged by the SOG team after the operation was conducted based on a tip-off. According to the FIR, the SOG received intelligence around 4.40pm that two individuals were seen near the HP petrol pump, close to Bhakti Circle, possibly carrying methamphetamine drugs. Both were described by their attire, one in a reddish-checked shirt and jeans, and the other in a green-checked shirt and jeans. An SOG team proceeded towards the spot in an autorickshaw. Around 5.40pm, the two suspects were located a short distance from Avkar Homes. One of them tried to flee but was caught near the society's gate. After informing seniors and calling for additional support, the suspects were detained, and an official search was initiated in the presence of two independent witnesses. The suspects were taken to the SOG office, where a forensic team was called. In their presence, the seized substance was tested, photographed and weighed. "The drug seized weighed exactly 489.410 grams, and it tested positive as methamphetamine," the FIR notes. The total market value of the meth and other seized items — including phones and cash — has been pegged at Rs 49.05 lakh. No other objectionable items were found in the rickshaw or nearby vehicle, the FIR states. The FIR further states that during questioning, the accused revealed they procured the contraband from two individuals, both of whom are currently absconding. The accused, both originally from Modasa in Aravalli district, have been booked under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is ongoing by the SOG.
