‘The Chosen' Season 5 Reveals Posters Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Tickets Go On Sale for Theatrical Release

Yahoo14-02-2025
As 'The Chosen' Season 5 prepares to premiere in theaters next month, creator/exec producer Dallas Jenkins has unveiled three key art posters — shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz — to promote the upcoming eight episodes.
Jenkins and series star Jonathan Roumie shared the posters while on a press tour stop in New York's Times Square on Thursday. The three posters will promote the three parts of Season 5, dubbed 'The Chosen: Last Summer,' which will be released by 5&2 Studios — the newly-formed production company now behind the global hit — in U.S. and Canada theaters starting March 28.

'What makes her work so extraordinary is she tells stories — in seconds — and then you look deeper and you find more,' Jenkins said in a statement regarding Leibovitz.. 'We're trying to tell stories of some of the most iconic people who ever lived. They actually lived and breathed and had fear and doubt and felt things like joy and betrayal. So in a season like this, where you see all of those things, it felt like the season that was in need of someone most like her to communicate that photographically. When she agreed to do it, we knew that it was going to elevate the show and bring something to it with her portraits that we can't do.'
Tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 14, for Season 5, which is distributed in the U.S. by Fathom. The series will hit theaters in three parts during a four-week run: Part 1 (episodes 1-2), Part 2 (episodes 3, 4, 5), and Part 3 (episodes 6, 7, 8). 'The Chosen: Last Supper' Part 1 will hit theaters in more than 40 additional territories starting April 10, including Brazil, Mexico, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Poland, Philippines and India, among others. (Trafalgar Releasing handles international distribution.)
Season 5 will then make its streaming debut later in 2025.
Here's the logline for 'The Chosen: Last Supper': 'The table is set. The people of Israel welcome Jesus as king while his disciples anticipate his crowning. But—instead of confronting Rome—he turns the tables on the Jewish religious festival. Their power threatened, the country's religious and political leaders will go to any length to ensure this Passover meal is Jesus' last.'
Said Leibovitz in a statement: 'I admire what Dallas Jenkins is doing so much… He is the artist of our time doing the Bible.'

‘Untamed' Season 2: Everything We Know

Netflix's national parks detective thriller, Untamed, just concluded its first season. The Eric Bana led show was only intended to be a limited series, but fans seem to want more and the creators seem to have more story to tell. Bana stars as Kyle Turner, a man with a nose for criminal cases who makes a living figuring out why people die and disappear in the national parks system. Warning: spoilers for this season's mystery are ahead. Here's what we know so far about a second season of Untamed. Untamed was released as a limited series, meaning Netflix planned for it to be only one season. But that hasn't stopped streaming platforms from continuing a popular singular season show before and it seems like the cast and crew would be interested. 'We spoke about what would happen to Kyle after this, in theory. So you never know,' Bana told Variety. His co-star, Lily Santiago, said she's like a season with 'more solving of murders,' in an interview with TV Insider, adding, 'Honestly, I would love for her to get called up to go to a different place. Bring me to a mountain in Hawai'i. I'm hoping that it's new murder, new location, wilderness challenges, and new things to learn.' Creator Mark L. Smith told Tudum what he's been thinking might be in store for Kyle. 'Instead of Turner being in his element, he'll be in a land where he doesn't understand all the dangers and the risks, and he doesn't understand the people around [him],' he shared. 'He'll be a little bit on his back foot and a little bit unsure, and he'll have to learn as well.' The first season followed National Parks Service's Kyle Turner as he investigates the death of Lucy Cook in Yosemite National Park following her fall from El Capitan. Lucy's death is at first associated with a drug ring inside the park's caves, but Turner thinks there is something even fishier about the situation. He eventually learns Lucy was attacked by her biological father, Chief Paul Souter, who placed Lucy in an abusive foster home when she was a child. The show ends with Souter dying by suicide and a few other dramatic twists—but the case gets closed. Unfortunately, Turner gets suspended from the force and moves out of his home in Yosemite. Co-showrunner Elle Smith said to TV Insider that she has thought about a possible second season and imagines Turner and his partner, Naya, going to a different national park, explaining, 'They travel from park to park and case to case and things like that. So I think that's what was interesting to us, and if we got the opportunity to do it again, it would be getting to explore a different park, a different case.' She added, 'We would do this forever if they let us, but we'll see. We'll see how many adventures Turner has left in him.' It sounds like Eric Bana is down to come back as Turner, though a season in a new park could potentially present new investigators, a la True Detective. But Bana seems like a fan favorite, as was Lily Santiago as Naya. If they do stick together, but head to a new park, there could be an entirely new cast of supporting players. This post will be updated.

'Wolfenstein' TV series based on games in the works: 'The story of killing Nazis is evergreen'

What a logline! A Wolfenstein TV series based on the popular video games is coming our way, and even more eye-catching is the official logline that accompanies the news. Instead of a lengthy description of what the show will be, it simply states: "The story of killing Nazis is evergreen." (Truly, no notes.) Wolfenstein is a series of shooter games that depict an alternate history. They largely focus on the character of William "B.J." Blazkowicz, a U.S. solider during World War II who goes behind enemy lines and discovers that the Nazis are using bizarre experiments and the occult in an attempt to shift the war in their favor. The first game, Castle Wolfenstein, released in 1981. The most recent installments are 2019's Wolfenstein: Youngblood and the VR release Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot. Variety first reported the news of the TV adaption, which was confirmed by the involved parties on social media. Patrick Somerville of Station Eleven and Maniac is attached as the show's creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner for Amazon MGM Studios. Also on board as EPs are Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham from Kilter Films, which produces Amazon's hit Fallout game-to-TV adaptation. On the gaming side, Jerk Gustafsson of Wolfenstein developer MachineGames will executive-produce alongside James Altman of Keyframe Films. A film version of Wolfenstein was previously announced back in 2012, though it never took off. It should also be noted that Amazon is fully leaning into adapting video games as high-profile series. After Fallout, the company also have its sights on Mass Effect, God of War, and Warhammer 40,000, the latter starring Henry Cavill. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Amazon is developing a Wolfenstein TV show

Following the success of Fallout , Amazon is turning its attention to another video game adaptation. The company is reportedly developing a series based on the Wolfenstein franchise with the help of some of the creative team behind Fallout , according to Variety . The details of how the Wolfenstein show will adapt the alternate history action of the games are still under wraps, but the subject matter remains unfortunately timely. The show's logline is "The story of killing Nazis is evergreen," according to Variety , which seems like a direct acknowledgement of that fact. Patrick Somerville, the writer and showrunner of Station Eleven , will reportedly serve as the writer of the Wolfenstein adaptation, with Lisa Joy, Athena Wickham and Jonathan Nolan producing the show through their company Kilter Films. The production company also made the adaptation of the William Gibson's The Peripheral for Amazon, and currently produces Fallout. While it might make sense to pair a new show with a brand new Wolfenstein game, the series has effectively been on hold since 2019. MachineGames, the Microsoft-owned developer of the last five Wolfenstein games, hasn't produced a new entry since 2019's Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot . The studio released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in December 2024. Given the tumultuous state of Microsoft's Xbox division, the series could be your best bet for getting more Wolfenstein, assuming Amazon decides to move forward.
