Craven Week: Day 1 fixtures and results - Monday, 7 July
This year will be the 60th edition of the tournament – and the third time it will be hosted by Middelburg.
The two previous editions took place in 1978 and 2014.
Western Province are the defending champions and are currently on a 15-match win streak at Craven Week.
The Cape side's 37-24 win over Free State in last year's main match was their fifth consecutive victory in the unofficial 'final'.
It would take a brave man to bet against Western Province contesting this year's final such has been the dominance of the Cape schools this season.
Western Province have a number of players returning from last year's side which bodes well for their chances.
Somewhat surprisingly, however, considering their dominance in 2025 and their place atop the 'unofficial' schoolboy rankings, Paarl Gimnasium only have two members of the 23-player Western Province team.
Paarl Boys' High and Rondebosch Boys' High each contribute five players, while four come from Wynberg Boys' High.
Along with Paarl Gimnsium, Boland Landbou, Stellenberg and Paul Roos all have two players, while the final member of the team, loose forward Briint Davids, hails from Milnerton.
Western Province will begin their campaign against neighbours Boland in the main match on Day 2.
Nine players who featured in the SA Schools and SA U18 teams last year have been included in their provincial squads again. They are Josh Neill, Markus Muller, Briint Davids, Jordan Jooste (all WP), Ethan Adams, AJ Meyer (both Free State), Zekhe Siyaya (KZN), André Poulton (Lions), and Joshua McKenzie (EP).
At the conclusion of the tournament, the SA Schools and SA Schools 'A' teams will be announced.
They will face each other at Hoërskool Middelburg on Thursday, 17 July, while the U18 International Series will follow in August.
This year's U18 Craven Week will run from 7 to 12 July.

Currie Cup result: Visagie gets a double as Lions maul WP
Next up for the Lions is a tricky away fixture against Boland in Wellington while WP hit the road to battle Griquas in Kimberley. Captain Jaco Visagie led from the front and scored two tries as the Lions raced to an impressive win over Western Province at Ellis Park. The Lions followed up a 46-5 demolition of the Sharks in round 1 with a 40-19 victory over the visiting Capetonians on Saturday to move up to a perfect 10 points on the log. It was a bright start for Western Province when No 8 Louw Nel crashed over within the first five minutes of the game. The Lions then hit their straps and roared back just a few minutes later through a try by flyhalf Lubabalo Dobela followed by a penalty try to stretch their lead. Dobela put in another assured performance in the No 10 jersey and was named Man of the Match. Winger Rabz Maxwane darted over for the Lions' third in the 21st minute. But loose forward Gideon van Wyk registered Province's second try to bring them to within nine points of the Lions going into half time. It was however one-way traffic in the second half as the Lions mauled Western Province through tries by WJ Steenkamp and the brace for captain Visagie, despite a second try of the afternoon by WP's Nel. Next up for the Lions is a tricky away fixture against Boland in Wellington while WP hit the road to battle Griquas in Kimberley. Bulls coach Nomlomo makes bold move by shifting Chamberlain to fullback for Currie Cup clash
Bulls coach Phiwe Nomlomo has made a significant change to his team for Saturday's Currie Cup encounter with the Sharks by shifting Boeta Chamberlain from flyhalf to fullback. Chamberlain was the Player of the Match last week when the Bulls crushed Western Province, but his reward is a move to fullback, with Jaco van der Walt starting in the key position. With a handful of players nursing injuries, Nomlomo also opted for a front-row change — Juann Else comes in for Joe van Zyl at hooker. In a notable selection, former Springbok Aphiwe Dyantyi starts in the No. 14 jersey. Dyantyi has been working to relaunch his career after a two-year ban incurred when he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. The former Lions player made a comeback for the Sharks last year, but after failing to make their United Rugby Championship squad, he moved to the Bulls.

Currie Cup round two preview: Pressure already on some teams
It's only round two of this year's Currie Cup and already some teams are under pressure to win this weekend. Because all the teams will only play seven regular competition matches over one round and there not being home and away legs the pressure is already on for some teams in this year's Currie Cup competition. And we've only had one round of action. For the teams who lost last weekend – Western Province, the Cheetahs, Griquas and the Sharks – it's just about must-win this weekend when round two is played across the country. No team will want to have two defeats to their name with five to play, so it's all set to be a big weekend of action. Friday night action Kicking things off on Friday night (7pm) are the Cheetahs and Pumas who clash in Bloemfontein. Frans Steyn's Cheetahs will be ruing their missed opportunity in Wellington last weekend when they allowed Boland to snatch the win well after the final hooter, and will look to hit back at home this weekend. The Pumas though have proved to be tough Currie Cup competitors in recent years and go into the game on the back of an impressive win at home against Griquas. Saturday fixtures The first match on Saturday sees the Lions, fresh off picking up a big win against the Sharks at Ellis Park last weekend, going up against Western Province, who looked a well beaten side against the travelling Bulls in Cape Town last weekend. Another win for the Lions will set them up nicely for the remainder of the competition, while for Western Province alarm bells could be ringing on Saturday night if they don't win, as will be the case for the Cheetahs. In the late game on Saturday (5.10pm) the Bulls host the Sharks at Loftus and taking into account how things went for these two teams last weekend, the Bulls be favoured to win this one. They won comfortably against Province away, while the Sharks were hammered in Joburg by the Lions. In the final match of the round, Griquas host Boland in Kimberley at 3pm Sunday. The home team will be desperate to pick up a win after their struggles in Mbombela last week, but a second consecutive win for Boland will give them a lot of hope of making the playoffs this season.
