Basis Signs Strategic Collaboration Agreement with AWS to Accelerate Generative AI Innovation for Customers
The SCA is a multi-year collaboration that includes investment and operational support from AWS, aimed at accelerating the deployment of GenAI solutions for Basis clients. This agreement allows Basis to allocate strategic investment for customer GenAI initiatives, such as customer Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs), enhance internal marketing efforts, and utilize AWS resources to explore and develop new offerings.
"We are incredibly honored to be collaborating with AWS on this SCA," said Landon Meserve, AWS Alliance Lead at Basis. "This reflects our deep commitment to innovation, customer success, and delivering tailored AI solutions that move businesses forward. Our collaboration with AWS enables us to further empower organizations to embrace GenAI digital transformation with confidence and speed."
'Partners like Basis play a crucial role in helping customers successfully implement generative AI solutions that address real business challenges at the right cost, and with security in mind,' said Rima Olinger, Managing Director, North America Partners, AWS. 'With Amazon Bedrock, organizations can safely harness generative AI with enterprise-grade security while maintaining complete control of their data. This strategic collaboration agreement represents our commitment to providing customers with both secure, scalable infrastructure and the expert guidance they need to accelerate their AI transformation journeys with confidence.'
This SCA builds on the work Basis is already doing to help customers, including OneLine Health and Reklaim move from OpenAI to Amazon Bedrock for secure, scalable GenAI workflows:
Basis worked with OneLine Health to migrate its AI Physicians Copilot, an end-to-end clinical documentation automation platform, enhancing its medical conversation transcription, summarization, and structured data extraction capabilities. Basis will continue to build with AWS services, like Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, as well as large language models including Amazon Nova, to help clients transition and scale their AI workloads with secure and cost-effective solutions.
Reklaim, a leader in the luxury resale space, worked with Basis to migrate product identification and classification workflows to Amazon Bedrock to meet production scale requirements, as well as improve security and price-performance.
'Switching from OpenAI to Amazon Bedrock was a pivotal moment for OneLine Health. With Basis guiding the migration, we gained a platform that delivers enterprise-grade security, cost-efficiency, and the flexibility to integrate new large language models as they become available. This has empowered us to scale our Clinical Reasoning AI more rapidly and securely across diverse care environments. The partnership has enabled us to automate clinical documentation and decision support with greater precision and reliability, reducing physician burnout and improving patient care outcomes across the board.'
— Dr. Karan Gill, Founder and CEO of OneLine Health.
This SCA further strengthens Basis' collaboration with AWS and reinforces Basis' position as a trusted technology partner for companies navigating the evolving GenAI landscape.

Why AI is causing summer electricity bills to soar
If your electricity bill seems shockingly high, you're not imagining it. A big part of the spike is being driven by rising artificial intelligence electricity demand. PJM Interconnection, the largest power grid operator in the United States, says electricity usage is climbing sharply this summer. Some areas may see bills increase by as much as 20%. One of the main drivers behind this trend is the growing power consumption from data centers that support AI systems like ChatGPT and other generative tools. Sign up for my FREE CyberGuy ReportGet my best tech tips, urgent security alerts and exclusive deals delivered straight to your inbox. Plus, you'll get instant access to my Ultimate Scam Survival Guide — free when you join my PJM supplies electricity to 67 million customers across 13 states: Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia. It manages a vast and complex network of power distribution. This summer, the grid is showing signs of strain. In just the past year, data centers running AI have started using much more electricity. These centers can consume up to 30 times more power than traditional data centers. Most of them are connected to the same grid that serves homes and businesses, which means the cost of that power growth is shared by everyone. AI took off in 2023 when tools like ChatGPT became widely adopted. Since then, companies have been racing to build more infrastructure to keep up. PJM's territory now has the largest number of data centers in the world. Between 2024 and 2025, electricity demand from AI and data centers in the PJM region contributed to a $9 billion increase in power costs. PJM expects peak usage this summer to reach over 154,000 megawatts, with the potential to exceed all-time records during heat waves or emergencies. While demand is rising quickly, the power supply is not keeping up with the pace. Many fossil fuel plants are shutting down due to state regulations, aging infrastructure or market conditions. More than 9,000 megawatts of coal capacity will retire or convert to gas in 2025 alone. Clean energy options like wind and solar are often the cheapest ways to add new power, but developers are struggling with permitting delays, rising costs and a loss of federal incentives. For example, the 30% federal solar tax credit for homeowners will end after 2025. That change is already slowing down new installations. Even if you never use AI tools yourself, you are still likely paying for their growth. The cost of expanding the data center's power supply is spread across all grid users, including regular households. PJM customers have been warned to expect electric bills to increase by $25 or more per month. Commercial users may see prices climb nearly 30%. To help prevent rolling blackouts, PJM is rolling out demand response programs that pay large businesses to temporarily reduce their electricity use during periods of extreme demand. Still, if electricity usage exceeds 166,000 megawatts, some regions may not have enough reserve power to maintain reliability. Looking for ways to lower your electricity bill as prices surge? Here are some effective tips you can start using today: For more tips and expert advice, check out the 7 best ways to save money on your electricity bill AI electricity demand is growing faster than the grid can handle. As more data centers come online to power tools like ChatGPT, the strain is showing up on your utility bill. Without major upgrades to infrastructure or smarter energy policy, prices could keep climbing. The tech may be smart, but the cost of keeping it running is getting harder for everyone else to ignore. Why Google should 'walk away' from Waymo
Needham & Company senior media and internet analyst Laura Martin joins Market Domination with Josh Lipton to explain why Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) should ditch Waymo and focus on generative artificial intelligence (AI) instead. To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Market Domination here. I also want your take on robo taxis, Laura, because Google's Waymo, of course way ahead of of Tesla right now. How do you think about about that business? You know, so Waymo gets caught up in something called like other bets and they just lose a fortune. They make no money, I mean, they make no revenue and they lose a fortune. So from my point of view, these companies, and this includes meta and Amazon, they should cut all this stuff out, in my opinion, and put it towards generative AI where I see the clear benefits and cost cutting and new product introductions. So if it was me, I would walk away from Waymo. However, that is not a consensus point of view. I think to your point, they are way ahead in this sort of driverless car taxis in certain markets. So, I mean, I wish they'd sell it then and monetize it because I think the future of this company is data driven and that has to do with generative AI and not you know, you know, automated taxis. That's my point of view.
