Man's body chopped into pieces by his mum and girlfriend who then put remains in bin

Daily Record3 days ago
The body of 35-year-old man Alessandro Venier was found in a bin at his home near the north-eastern city of Udine in Italy after being drugged and hacked to bits with an axe
A man was reportedly drugged and then gruesomely dismembered with an axe, with suspicion cast upon the victim's own mother and girlfriend. The blood-soaked remains of 35 year old Italian Alessandro Venier were discovered in a bin at his residence near Udine in the north-east of Italy.

His body had been sprinkled with quicklime to mask the odour.

Authorities believe he had been deceased for several days before they located him. According to local reports, the suspects - his mother Lorena Venier and his 30 year old partner - surrendered themselves to the police.

The motive behind the crime has yet to be disclosed.
Venier was employed in a junior position at a nearby hospital. It is suspected that the women sedated him before chopping him up with an axe, reports the Mirror.
The two accused women lived with the victim and his six-month-old baby girl.

The local community has been left in shock by the murder, particularly as they grapple with how the man's own mother, a respected nurse in the town, could be implicated.
Venier's remains were found on Thursday after one of the women alerted the authorities. Both women have been apprehended and taken into custody at the local police station.

"Nothing like this has ever happened here before," stated Roberto Revelant, the mayor of Gemona del Friuli, where the murder occurred. "It's a terrible thing, it's heart-wrenching."
The mayor also shared that Venier had aspirations of relocating to Colombia.
The infant has been placed in care, with the mayor commenting: "The whole community is rallying around the baby. We are working with social services to make sure she is safe."

Authorities are continuing their investigation and anticipate bringing charges within the next few days.
This incident follows a macabre discovery where the severed head of a man was turned over to the authorities by a student, who was then taken into custody.
In a shocking turn of events, the young individual presented the detached head, encased in tin foil, from his rucksack, stunning medical staff at São José Hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, prompting them to immediately alert the police. The decapitated corpse had been discovered sprawled on a central street in Lisbon earlier on Wednesday.
Following the grim find on Patio Salema, a narrow lane close to a key tourist attraction and scenic plaza, at approximately 6.45am local time, police initiated a homicide investigation.

Mum left toddler home alone to die while she went on holiday

Kristel Candelario's baby Jailyn tragically died in her playpen after screaming for days. A mum who was jailed for life after leaving her baby home alone while she went on holiday has spoken out from her prison cell. ‌ Kristel Candelario left 16-month-old Jailyn by herself at her home in Cleveland, Ohio, for 10 days in June 2023. She was left in her playpen with only a few bottles of milk. ‌ When she returned from her trip to Michigan and Puerto Rico, she found the tot unresponsive and called emergency services. Jailyn was "extremely dehydrated" and covered in faeces and urine inside the dirty playpen. ‌ She was tragically pronounced dead after police attended, with investigators branding the case as the most harrowing they had dealt with during their careers, the Mirror reports. Candelario admitted she had "committed a diabolical act" and ultimately pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated murder and another of child endangerment. She was sentenced to life behind bars without the possibility of release. She has since told her side of the story, revealing she had suffered from mental health issues in the months leading up to her daughter's death. ‌ Speaking from the Cleveland prison where she is serving her sentence, she told NBC News she had been admitted to hospital in January and February 2023 due to her mental health. She told the outlet: "For that reason, I was in the hospital without being able to walk for exactly almost two weeks. And in the month of March, I mean, my [now] ex-boyfriend and I wanted to take a vacation." She claimed to have told him she would leave Jailyn being looked after by her mother. She added that her mental state was behind her sudden decision to travel: "Actually, I left for the trip as a result of an impulse that I had, that I took, grabbed my four things, and ran out of the house like when someone is being chased. ‌ 'It's not that at that moment I thought that, 'Ah, I was going to Puerto Rico ... I was going to be super comfortable.' No, I never thought that. I simply wanted to get away from a life of stress, depression, and anxiety. I didn't want to continue living, because I had had a lot of problems in my life.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! When her then-boyfriend asked about her daughter, she told him she was fine, recalling: "When he mentioned [the girl] to me, it was like when someone reminds you of someone who's not with you at that moment." ‌ She considered asking a neighbour to check on her but never did, which she now sees as a "mistake". Her parents believed she was still at home with her, while they took their own trip with her older daughter, aged seven at the time. Recalling the moment she found Jailyn unresponsive, Candelario said: 'That's when my world fell apart. Not because maybe I was thinking about going to prison. That's the least important thing, because one is an adult and one can accept one's mistakes. [I was in] despair. I felt she could be saved; things didn't have to happen that way because my daughter was doing well, I always took care of her.' CNN reported during her sentencing that the court was told how the tot's screams were picked up by a neighbour's doorbell camera. Forensic pathologist Elizabeth Mooney explained: 'The pain and suffering she endured lasted not only hours, not days, but possibly even a week. ‌ "This feeling of abandonment for days on end, coupled with the pain of starvation and extreme thirst, is a type of suffering I don't think any of us could ever fully fathom.' Passing sentence, Judge Brendan Sheehan told Candelario: 'The bond between a mother and a child is one of the most purest and most sacred bonds. It's a relationship built on love, trust, and unwavering protection. … You committed the ultimate act of betrayal. 'That little baby persevered, waiting for someone to save her. And you could have done that with a simple phone call. Instead, I see photos of you on a beach while your child was eating her own faeces in an attempt to survive.' He added: 'Just as you didn't let Jailyn out of her confinement until she died, so too you should spend the rest of your life in a cell without freedom. The only difference is that prison will at least feed you.' If you're strugglin g and need to talk, the Samaritans operate a free helpline open 24/7 on 116 123. Chloe Ayling reveals damaging toll of people not believing her terrifying kidnap plot

Chloe Ayling was kidnapped in 2017 after she flew to Italy for a modelling job but was drugged and taken to a remote farmhouse where she was held for a seven days Model Chloe Ayling has revealed the toll of not being believed over her harrowing kidnap eight years ago. Addressing the criticism, Chloe said: "It never ends." ‌ In 2017, Chloe suffered a week-long kidnapping ordeal after travelling to Milan, Italy for a photoshoot. However, when she arrived at the "studio", it was unusually "silent". ‌ Chloe, who was 21 at the time, was drugged, kidnapped and driven 120 miles to a remote farmhouse near Turin, where she was held hostage by Lukasz Herba, a 30-year-old Polish computer programmer from Oldbury, West Midlands, who was later jailed. It comes after one Mirror writer claimed 'the new Bonnie Blue documentary may be the worst thing I've ever seen on Channel 4'. ‌ Chloe revealed that a gang calling itself the Black Death Group demanded £270,000 or she would be sold as a sex slave on the dark web. But six days later she turned up at the British consulate in Milan to reveal her ordeal, despite no ransom demand being paid. The model was eventually allowed to return home three weeks after her release. However, Chloe has since faced doubts about her story as she has been hit with claims of wanting fame or profit. ‌ "It is always people who don't know the facts, they judge too quickly and jump in before knowing the full story," Chloe revealed of the backlash. "You can never get offended by it really because they don't know." Speaking about reliving the ordeal for her new documentary while on Lorraine, Chloe said: "I thought it would be easy, I am really not good at talking about my feelings. I had to relive it again and I got emotional about things I hadn't before." Revealing how the backlash affected her, she added: "I was constantly having to talk about his crazy decisions as if they were my own. It was my calmness that saved me." ‌ "I had to get him on side to be able to get out," Chloe said as she explained how she came across as calm in initial interviews and CCTV footage. "I want to show a victim doesn't have to fit into a typical box to be believed." She is now taking part in a BBC documentary, My Unbelievable Kidnapping, as she recalls the harrowing experience. It comes a year after the BBC released a drama series based on Chloe's kidnap. ‌ When she returned home Chloe gave an interview to TV reporters outside her home. She said: 'I feared for my life, second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour." Yet her story was still scrutinised as footage showed Chloe on CCTV footage in an Italian village, holding her kidnapper's hand. She ended up being grilled by Piers Morgan who told her: 'It's not insignificant to be going shopping with the alleged kidnapper and buying new shoes. "If you're going to conduct media interviews where you're being paid money, and you're doing a book for thousands of pounds before there's even been a trial, I think we're perfectly entitled to ask you difficult questions.' Chloe told him: 'It will all come out in the end." She was right, as Herba was convicted of kidnapping and extortion, and sentenced to 16 years and nine months in jail.

British pensioner found dead in Greek hotel swimming pool as three arrested

A young lifeguard is among those taken into police custody. A 78-year-old British tourist has died after falling ill while swimming in a pool on the Greek island of Crete. ‌ The woman was pulled from the water at her hotel in the town of Hersonissos. Despite being given first aid, emergency crews were unable to save her. ‌ She was sadly pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later. Three people have since been arrested on suspicion of negligent manslaughter, including a 21-year-old lifeguard who was meant to be watching the pool, the Mirror reports. ‌ Two hotel managers, aged 51 and 41, were also taken into custody. Last month, another British tourist was found dead on a beach sun lounger. The 74-year-old man was found unconscious on Crete's Stalis Beach. A few days later, a young girl was found dead on another beach by a man going for a late-night swim. The tot, believed to only be around two or three years old, was found in the sand on Eden Beach in Paleo Faliro, near Athens. ‌ The man called emergency services, who rushed her to Agia Sofia Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination revealed disturbing details about what happened to her prior to her death. A forensic doctor found bruising to her lips, and injuries to her head and body suggesting she had been abused. Some local media reported she was found to be "very thin". It is suspected she came to harm about three to four hours before her death.
