Wyn Davies 1942-2025
Known affectionately as 'Wyn the Leap' and 'The Mighty Wyn' due to his aerial prowess, the Welshman spent five years at St. James' Park, scoring 53 goals in 216 appearances for the Magpies whilst wearing the famous nine shirt, and was part of the United team which won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969 under Joe Harvey's management.
Davies then enjoyed spells at Manchester City, Manchester United and Blackpool during the 1970s before finishing his career with Bangor City in 1979 as well as gaining 34 senior international caps for Wales, scoring six times.
The club's thoughts are with Wyn's family and friends at this difficult time.

Newcastle's owners could end up indirectly helping Liverpool to sign Alexander Isak. That's because Al-Hilal, the club that is interested in signing Darwin Nunez from the Reds, is majoratively owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund — the same group that majoratively owns Newcastle. Nunez could leave Liverpool before the transfer window closes after three underwhelming seasons on Merseyside, and after Napoli dropped its interest several weeks ago due to Nunez's price tag, there are not many top-level European options remaining for the Uruguayan. The riches on offer in Saudi Arabia could appeal to Nunez, and it is reported by The Athletic that Al-Hilal has made the 26-year-old its top striking target after seeing Victor Osimhen move to Galatasaray. Over $12,000 in equipment stolen from south suburban Chicago youth football team
A south suburban youth football team is missing over $12,000 in equipment after they say it was taken from the team's storage container. This all happened weeks before the start of the season. The storage container for the Robbins CalPark Eagles sits off a main road in empty lot right next to a school, where the team's president says police are looking into surveillance cameras facing toward the lot. "We started rallying, started coming over to find out somebody had basically pried the lock off one of the doors and went in there," said Glen Hampton, president of the Robbins CalPark Eagles. Hampton said more than $12,000 in equipment was stolen from the storage unit sometime Saturday night. He said the team has no idea who did it or why. "They scrounged through the equipment, and they were very selective in what they took," said Hampton. "Helmets and shoulder pads, primarily. And then they also took some, you know, training equipment." A hit like this is a first for the program that serves over 280 kids and has been around for over 40 years. "And now I have no equipment to put on them," said Hampton. "The season starts in just over two weeks." It is a real concern for 10-year-old Eagles football players Blake Ross and Ezekiel Tolbert. "Our season is about to start," said Blake. "What are we going to do?" Given the circumstances, the team is staying positive and hopeful for another undefeated season ahead. "We're going to go 9-and-0 this year — same thing," said Ezekiel. "We're going to repeat it." A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the teams get equipment before the season starts in a few weeks. "We're disappointed, I mean, that somebody would go to this level," added Hampton. "The Eagles will fly high again."
