'This is my first time here, and I'm really excited and motivated. After seeing the venue and training here, I feel even more pumped and ready to compete. The atmosphere is very different from events like the SEA Games, and this is my first time competing on the world stage. 'We've been preparing for quite a while. Before coming here, we underwent a two-week centralised training camp in Thailand, which has made me more ready for competition,' said the Universiti Malaya student when met here. KUALA LUMPUR: Men's doubles shuttler Fazriq Razif is gunning for a podium finish on his debut at the World University Games in Germany from July 16-27. The 21-year-old, who is the son of badminton legend Datuk Razif Sidek, will partner Bryan Goonting at the event and is determined to bring home a medal for Malaysia. "The target is definitely to win a medal," said Fazriq. "It's my first outing at the World University Games, and I know it's a big tournament. Training has been intense, we've been doing a lot of pressure sessions." Still, Fazriq remains upbeat about their prospects. "Bryan and I are in good condition physically, but tournaments are a different challenge - there are many factors at play," he said. It's a slow process, but he's getting better."
