Body found by police investigating disappearance of woman
Yajaira Castro Mendez, 46, was reported missing to the Metropolitan Police on May 31 having left her home in Ilford on the morning of May 29.
Her family has been told about the discovery of the body, which was found during searches in Hampshire's Bolderwood area on Saturday, but formal identification has yet to be made.
Detective Inspector Jay Gregory, who is leading the investigation, said: 'This is a very sad development in the investigation and our thoughts are very much with Yajaira's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
'We continue to appeal to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to please come forward.'
A post-mortem examination has yet to take place.
The police said a man who was known to Ms Castro Mendez appeared in court on Friday charged with her murder and was remanded into custody.
Her disappearance was initially treated as a missing person investigation led by local officers.
The investigation was then transferred to the Met's Specialist Crime Command on June 5, after a range of extensive further inquiries suggested she had come to harm.
Police were at a scene in Gray's Inn Road, Camden, on Friday as part of their investigation.

More than 20 arrests at protest in support of Palestine Action after UK ban comes into effect
LONDON (AP) — More than 20 people were arrested Saturday on suspicion of terrorism offenses after protesters gathered in central London in support of Palestine Action. The protest in Parliament Square came hours after the pro-Palestinian activist group was banned in Britain under anti-terrorism laws. The group lost a last-minute court battle late Friday seeking to block the British government's ban, which came into effect at midnight. Activists and their supporters have said the group is non-violent and advocates civil disobedience, and condemned the government decision as authoritarian. A small group of protesters stood beneath a statue of Mahatma Gandhi and held placards reading, 'I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.' Police surrounded them and several people were taken away. One woman seen lying on the ground in handcuffs was carried by officers to a police van. Colombian police capture suspected leader in senator's shooting
By Luis Jaime Acosta BOGOTA (Reuters) -Colombian police have captured a fugitive accused of planning last month's gun attack on Senator Miguel Uribe, a potential presidential candidate, the head of the country's national police said on Saturday, marking the fifth arrest in the case. Elder Jose Arteaga, known as El Costeno, was arrested on suspicion of organizing and coordinating the politician's shooting at a rally in Colombia's capital Bogota on June 7 to commit the crime, police said. This includes handing over the gun used in the attack to the 15-year-old charged with shooting Uribe, the police added. "We are going after the intellectual authors of this act," National Police Director Carlos Fernando Triana told a press conference," adding that Arteaga had a criminal history going back more than 20 years. Footage on social media showed armed officers cuffing the suspect during a morning raid on a house police said was in a western neighborhood of Bogota, a day after Triana announced that Interpol had issued a red notice for his arrest. Reuters was not immediately able to reach Arteaga, 41, for comment. Triana said in a post on social media on Friday that he was wanted for "aggravated attempted homicide; manufacture, trafficking and carrying of firearms or ammunition; and use of minors for the commission of crimes." On Saturday, Triana told reporters police were investigating several theories about who was intellectually responsible for the attack, without giving more details. There is reward of up to 3 billion pesos (over $750,000) for information leading to the identification and capture of those responsible, Defense Minister Pedro Sanchez said in a post on X.
