Strictly legend says Bruce Forsyth 'would have been furious' over decision
Strictly Come Dancing legend Bruce Forsyth's ashes were laid to rest beneath the stage of the London Palladium, a decision that would have left him "furious", according to Anton Du Beke
Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke says Bruce Forsyth"would have been furious" about a decision made after his death. Speaking on the My Time Capsule podcast earlier this year, Anton reminisced about a captivating show he did at the London Palladium – the very site he regards as the "home of Brucie".
Reflecting on the sad passing of his "great hero" Bruce in August 2017 at the age of 89, Anton noted his ashes were interred beneath the stage of the Palladium along with a blue plaque.
He described exactly where Brucie's final resting place is situated, sharing: "So, if you're looking out into the auditorium from the stage, right directly below there, there's obviously a wall there holding the whole place up. But in that wall, they've buried Brucie's ashes, and there's a plaque underneath, 'Here are the ashes...'".
Anton went on to talk about how Brucie is now joined nearby by comedy legend Des O'Connor, who he believes held the record for the most performances at the Palladium. He hinted that Julian Clary is aiming for the same accolade, saying: "To the left now of Brucie is the wonderful Des O'Connor, who's done more shows, I think, at the Palladium than anybody else.
"I think Julian Clary is hoping to take that crown soon, but I think Des O'Connor has done more shows at the Palladium than anybody else. Now, I know that Brucie would have been furious about this because Brucie was never a double act. He was always a single act, so I know Brucie would have been furious about this."
When he passed away, his manager Ian Wilson noted he died "peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Wilnelia and all his children".
The entertainment world overflowed with tributes for Brucie after his death, with co-host Tess Daly confessing she was "heartbroken" over the passing of the man who became the UK's top-earning TV star.
The memorial plaque carries an inscription mentioning Sir Bruce first presented Sunday Night At The London Palladium back in 1958 and did his last show in 2015. It reveals his reputation as "without question the UK's greatest entertainer".
The plaque also states: "He rests in peace within the sound of music, laughter and dancing... exactly where he would want to be."
Sir Bruce stepped back from presenting Strictly in 2014, after a decade which included his tenure from the very first episode of the show in 2004, known for hosting hit programmes such as Play Your Cards Right and The Price Is Right.
Brucie, who handed over the Strictly reins to Claudia Winkleman, said at the time: "After 10 wonderful years and 11 series, I believe it is now the right time to step down from the rigours of presenting the Strictly live shows."

Arlene Phillips reflects her 'tough' axe from Strictly amid ageism row as she weighs in on show's bullying scandal and her own 'strict' teaching style
Arlene Phillips has opened up about her 'tough' departure from Strictly Come Dancing and the accusations of bullying on the show. The former judge, now 82, was replaced with a then 30-year-old Alesha Dixon in 2009 with no explanation, despite having decades of experience as a dancer and choreographer. The BBC was subsequently accused of ageism after Arlene, who rose to fame with the dance troupe Hot Gossip in the 1970s, found out she had been axed on the radio instead of being approached directly. The controversy surrounding the long-running TV staple was amped up a gear in 2023 when Amanda Abbington, 51, accused her dance partner, Giovanni Pernice, 34, of bullying. Arelene told The Sunday Times: 'I loved my time on Strictly and it was tough when I left, but I got up and carried on with life. 'I wasn't there when accusations of bullying were made against some of the dancers, but I was quite strict when I started teaching.' Arlene, who had two children at ages 18 and 47, explained that her offspring taught her how to communicate without losing her temper. She said: 'I realised there was a different way to talk to people when I had a child - I didn't want to lose my temper. 'There are ways to get people to do as you want without shouting.' Arlene, who most recently worked as a choreographer on Guys and Dolls, made the revelations in a new interview when she reflects on her life a decade and a half after her Strictly departure. Describing her granddaughters as the biggest joy in her life now, she said that when her mother passed away when she was just 15, she quickly learned that she had to fight for the life she wanted. Arlene said the best piece of advice she has ever been given is to 'think carefully about what you say and do to others.' Her comments come after the accusations against Giovanni were partially upheld and others came forward to share similar stories that painted a picture of a toxic working environment on Strictly. Giovanni later admitted that while he is a strict teacher, he is not a bully, telling ITV's Lorraine in September: 'Bully is a big word and there's a difference between being a bully and caring about what you do.' After six months of investigating the Sherlock actress' claims after she previously branded Giovanni 'abusive, cruel and mean', in September, the BBC announced that they did not find him physically abusive, but upheld some claims of verbal bullying and harassment and did issue an apology to Amanda. Out of 17 complaints, they upheld six, some of which are for Giovanni using swear words. The report says that his language could be 'belittling.' Sources say they found 'instances of it.' The BBC also agreed with Amanda that at times he appeared to be giving her overly negative feedback. It also concluded that there were two moments of 'inappropriate behaviour of sexual banter in the workplace' which were found to be made and received as jokes, humour and compliments of Amanda's dancing. The review has found this was a two-way, consensual way of talking and behaving. However, her complaint that he sent her a video on WhatsApp which she deemed to be inappropriate was also not upheld. The BBC did not find anything sexually inappropriate either. Arlene claims to this day that the broadcaster has still never given her a reason for axing her from the show.

ITV's Lorraine Kelly rules out BBC Strictly stint after four-word dancing 'jibe'
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Lorraine Kelly has admitted that she wouldn't brave an appearance on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing after being unfavourably compared to "dancing with a wardrobe" by one of the show's professional dancers. On her popular ITV chat show, Lorraine sat down with Emmerdale's recent cast member Jaye Griffiths, who steps into the role of tough farmer Celia in the iconic soap. When chat touched upon reality TV pursuits for Jaye post-Emmerdale, Lorraine asked: "If you're going to start doing shows, SAS would you do that one?" Jaye responded with enthusiasm, stating: "Yes, in a heartbeat. I love it because it's pointless, you can't win anything. There is nothing except to hurt yourself." Jaye went on to explain: "It's to see if you have a back bone. Sometimes I watch it and on day one someone will pull out and I think 'what happened instead of your head to give up', would that be me." Discussing the terror of other reality programmes, Lorraine realised: "Now that I think about it, the scariest one would be Strictly," reports Wales Online. Looking at Jaye, she enquired: "Would you ever do Strictly?" Jaye was keen, replying: "Oh yes. I would love to learn those dances." Lorraine then revealed: "See I couldn't not in a million years. No, no." Prompting Jaye to inquire: "Why not, what's scary to you?". Lorraine shared her fears about dancing: "Everything about it is scary. I would run away. You know when they say 'and now the tango la la la' and I would just go 'no you're alright' and I'll just run away because it's too scary." Reflecting on a past encounter, Lorraine recalled how Strictly Come Dancing's Anton Du Beke once offered to teach her to dance during a break. She narrated: "I always say this but Anton Du Beke one time during a break he said 'I can teach you how to dance' and he said 'stand up, stand up'". Imitating their dance attempt, she continued: "Then he said 'nah, nah' he said it was like dancing with a wardrobe." The studio audience couldn't contain their laughter after her anecdote, with Jaye remarking: "That's mean." Lorraine quickly responded: "No, no but you would be fantastic." Later in the show, Jaye opened up about her new role as Celia in Emmerdale, who has already caused a stir despite being the newcomer. Jaye hinted at more drama involving her character, suggesting that Celia might "shake things up" in the beloved village, calling her "She's (Celia) fierce and complex shall we say." Discussing the resolve of her character, Jaye remarked: "She just wants what she wants, and doesn't understand why people don't just give it to her immediately. When you don't give her what she wants, there's part of her that goes, 'Oh, good, we're going to dance then'. Because she knows ultimately she always gets what she wants, and loves the game."

Strictly hunk signs up for Celebrity SAS just weeks after shock split and debt misery
A STRICTLY hunk has signed up for Celebrity SAS just weeks after his shock split from wife and his debt misery. Ben Cohen, 46, might be best-known as a Rugby player, but he is also known for his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing more than a decade ago. 4 And now Ben is gearing up for another television appearance after signing up for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. A TV insider told The Sun: "Ben has had a difficult few months with his split from Kristina, having to sell their home and also having spiralling business debts. "Celeb SAS is not only a good pay day for him, but it's a new challenge to throw himself into. "Ben is obviously a sportsman and a very physical, competitive player so if anyone can handle the SAS recruitment process, it's him." This won't be Ben's first brush with reality television. As mentioned, in September 2013, Ben took part as a contestant in the eleventh series of Strictly Come Dancing. Then, in January 2016, he took part as a contestant on the third series of The Jump. He won the series in March 2016, beating Dean Cain. In 2017, he was a contestant on season 7, episode 8 of The Celebrity Chase. In January 2018, he participated in And They're Off! in aid of Sport Relief. What goes around comes around, says Ben Cohen's ex after Kristina Rihanoff split & reveals 'why Strictly pair broke up' tweaked head And in December 2023, Ben participated in ITV's The Real Full Monty to raise awareness of cancer. While Ben was on Strictly, he met and fell in love with his professional dance partner Kristina Rihanoff. Back in March of this year, The Sun told how Ben and Kristina's marriage ended. The ex-England rugby star dumped his wife Abby to date Russian pro Kristina after being paired on the dancefloor in 2013. But pals confirmed they had parted after financial difficulties tore the relationship apart. A friend said: ' Ben left his wife Abby for Kristina, only to now split with her. 'It's like the curse in reverse. 'This will be like karma for Abby, she was so upset when Ben left her. 'It's like he has got his comeuppance.' The former couple. who have an eight-year-old daughter, have put their £1.75million house in Northampton on the market and Ben has been removed as a director of their joint yoga business. A pal said: 'The past six months have been hell for them and it has torn the love they had apart. 'For the sake of their family, they have chosen to go forward as separate individuals. 'Those close to them who know them as a couple had hoped they would be able to work things out but for now it's over and it looks like there's no going back.' We also revealed the full extent of their financial difficulties. The issues started when the pair went into business together, with Kristina also working as a dance instructor. Kristina said the pair had 'invested everything we've ever had' into their company Soo Yoga, after turning her passion for the exercise into a business. However after the pandemic hit, they ran into serious trouble. Their financial difficulties were made public in court last September, when Kristina was caught driving her £30,000 Audi without insurance. 4 4
