Bob Dylan fans will be forced to follow controversial rule at UK 2025 tour
Following a successful run of gigs last year that included three nights at the Royal Albert Hall, the 84-year-old has announced performances in Dublin, Glasgow and Swansea, as well as Brighton, Leeds and Coventry as part of his Rough And Rowdy Ways world tour, which has been running since November 2021.
As is tradition for the Blowin' In The Wind hitmaker, shows will be phone-free, and people will be asked to put their phones in a Yondr pouch, which closes automatically when in the venue and unlocks in the venue's concourse.
He is not the only musician to oppose incessant phone use at gigs, as Nick Cave and Pretenders lead singer Chrissie Hynde have both spoken out against the trend, advocating for a true live experience.
Other musicians including Jack White and Alicia Keys have also taken steps to reduce smartphone usage at their concerts.
Phones were discussed this last week in relation to Oasis' historic return to the stage after 16 years, which saw fans film key moments and plaster them on social media.
Research from UK electronics website Compare and Recycle estimated 17.3million minutes of Oasis' 33-gig tour will be recorded on phones.
That's the equivalent to 33 years of non-stop Oasis recordings.
Dylan's announcement comes amid a surge in interest in the Hurricane singer's career, following the release of the biopic A Complete Unknown last year, which starred Timothee Chalamet as Dylan and followed the story of his career beginnings and infamous decision to go electric in the mid-1960s.
His recent setlists from Texas gigs last week include songs like Don't Think Twice It's Alright, I Can Tell and Under the Red Sky.
The singer is one of the most acclaimed songwriters of all time, winning 10 Grammys and being nominated on 38 further occasions. Dylan has had six UK top 10 singles and nine UK number one albums.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale on Friday July 18 at 10am.

'I saw Oasis at Heaton Park and one thing really left me shocked'
Liam and Noel Gallagher played to 400,000 Oasis fans in Manchester over the last week It was the reunion gig we'd waited two decades to see. It feels like a lifetime ago myself and four of my closest friends spend a VERY nervy Saturday glued to our phones and laptops in the scramble for tickets. Then, on Saturday at Heaton Park, the night was finally here. The gig we'd all been waiting years to see, the Gallagher brothers back together on stage, performing Oasis bangers to a crowd who could not have been happier to be there. Even Manchester's earlier downpours hadn't dampened the atmosphere. The whole thing felt like a festival with everyone in the absolute best of moods. It was almost exactly 20 years since I'd last seen Liam and Noel Gallagher take to the stage in what would be one of their final live performances before the band imploded with one final huge row. As I was singing (I use that term very loosely, it's not unfair to say I have a voice that only a mother could love) it struck me just how different the two experiences were. It could have been the sunshiiiiine, it could have been spending the night with three of my best pals, it could have been the sheer nostalgia, but I honestly believe Oasis have never sounded better. Yes, the brothers Gallagher are light on banter but Liam's vocals were off the scale and it really was everything I'd hoped it would be, from the opening chords the final fireworks, it would only be a slight exaggeration to describe it as up there as one of the best nights of my life. Don't get me wrong, 20 years ago Oasis were still a sight to behold. Packed into the Etihad Stadium with tens of thousands of other fans was incredible, but this time round the atmosphere was very, very different. Heaton Park was filled with joy, complete strangers were hugging each other, there was no jostling, pushing, or aggression. The queues for the bar were orderly - I'm London-based now so the £6.50 pints didn't appall me as much as some others - and everyone was in the very best mood. Sadly, not quite the same vibe two decades ago. As slightly shorter than the average person (OK, a LOT shorter than the average person), I'm used to not getting a great view of live music but after spending two hours being trampled and stood on 20 years ago, I left covered in bruises. Horrifyingly, I also left covered in something else... wee. Pints and pints of the stuff were being chucked across the crowd. I can't lie, that was not a pleasant walk home. However, this time round it seems us Oasis fans have finally grown up. Nothing but love and laughter and very loud singing along. I'd even packed a poncho just in case, but it wasn't needed - for either the weather or the disgusting pint pot missiles being chucked last time. It shouldn't come as a shock. Afterall, those of us who have been fans since the very beginning are all now well into our 40s but it was a very pleasant surprise and made what was already an absolutely epic night even better.

Liam and Noel's epic gift to Manchester Gallagher Hill fans resold for huge amount Despite this, the pair were snapped posing with two excitable fans, sporting Oasis shirts backstage after their glittering gig in Manchester on Sunday. Sporting sunglasses, Noel stands next to the fan, as Liam puts his arm around his friend, punching the air after the band's thrilling performance in his hometown. 'Never thought I'd see a picture of Noel and Liam where they are more excited than anyone else in it,' one fan joked on Reddit. Another said: 'Those lucky lads, im happy they met their heroes,' and a third penned: 'Love that they still pose the same way it's adorable.' Others speculated that things 'must be going well on tour' between the two brothers. However, according to The Sun, a source said the Don't Look Back in Anger stars 'don't want to over-expose themselves to each other,' during the tour. As a result, Liam and Noel have reportedly been staying in separate residences after their gigs. The source said: 'Having separate residences is the best option so they can relax in their own space. 'They stayed in separate locations outside the city around half an hour away from each other. 'They're happy families at the moment and they want to keep it that way." Liam and Noel thanked fans for coming to Oasis' gig on Sunday, even though they didn't have a ticket. Those not lucky enough to bag a place for the reunion have been gathering on the newly-named Gallagher Hill in Heaton Park to try and catch a glimpse of the gig. And last night, a thousand were given an exclusive Oasis t-shirt, branded with 'Gallagher Hill', which went down a storm with the fans as they soaked up the electric atmosphere. Sisters Claire and Kerri Davis told the Manchester Evening news the were handed out by a man on a golf buggy. They said: 'He just came and was handing them out, he looked official. He said 'they're from Liam but I've only got a thousand.'"
