Man dies after being pulled from sea at beach on ‘first holiday with pals'
Lifeguards rushed to the scene and brought Aaron Keightley, who was unconscious, from the sea south of the central beach in Skegness, Lincolnshire - but he could not be saved. It is believed the 29-year-old got into difficulty in the surf and he was pulled away by the current.
A spokesperson from RNLI Lifeguards Lincolnshire confirmed: "At 3:30pm yesterday, lifeguards in Skegness recovered an unconscious member of the public from the water south of central beach, after he got into difficulty in the surf.
"Despite their best efforts to resuscitate him, the casualty sadly passed away at the scene. Our thoughts go to the family and friends affected by the incident, along with many of the beach visitors who witnessed the tragic events at the time."
A fundraiser has been setup by Aaron's sister Shannon to give him a fitting send off. She wrote on a GoFundMe page: "On 30/06/2025 my brother lost his whole future, he went on his first friends holiday and lost his life to the sea on skegness beach! The current took him so quickly and there is no fight against the sea!
"Not only do we as a family have to get through this heart wrenching pain but we have to now somehow get him back home from hull before we can even start to grieve his loss which can cost us thousands.
"We really want to give him everything and more and show him how loved and adored he is and always will be, there will never be another person like him so selfless and loving, everyone who ever met him loved him and we as a family would really appreciate any help you can give!
"Aaron would give anyone his last £ and nobody deserves a great send off like him! He will forever be 29! No age to loose your life, his mum, dad and siblings are hurting beyond belief and we thank anyone who has taken the time to read his story ! Please be careful in the sea no matter your size or strength there is nothing more powerful than the sea."

Convenience store worker dies after ‘manager sat on and suffocated her'
A 7-Eleven worker has died after her manager allegedly sat on her and cut off her breathing. Jessica McLaughlin, 24, walked into work at a convenience store in Los Angeles on June 24 'expecting a normal day' but was 'violently and senselessly attacked by one of her managers', her brother said in a GoFundMe page for her. The assistant manager 'held her down, sat on top of her, and didn't let her breathe,' wrote Sean McLaughlin. 'While some coworkers tried to help and stop it, they were attacked too. When she finally got free, she collapsed. She wasn't breathing.' Jessica's co-workers performed CPR on her and called for help. 'Meanwhile, the manager ran to the back room to try and delete the security footage,' Sean claimed. Officers responded to the 7-Eleven on the 5700 block of Melrose Avenue in Hollywood around 2.15pm and found Jessica unconscious on the floor and with serious injuries, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The manager had already fled on a bicycle, and no arrests have been made. Jessica was rushed to a hospital, where she was placed on life support and kept alive for the past few days. Her family, boyfriend and friends stayed by her side at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital and prayed for a miracle, but she was declared clinically dead. 'But the damage from the lack of oxygen was too much. Her brain had stopped functioning,' Sean said. 'After getting second opinions and doing everything we could, we have to make the impossible decision to let her go.' A 7-Eleven spokesperson said that the suspect has been terminated and that the company is cooperating fully with police. 'Our hearts are with those impacted during this difficult time,' the spokesperson told KTLA. Jessica 'had a way of making people feel safe, accepted, and loved', Sean said. 'She was the kind of person who rooted for the underdog, who lifted people up when they were down, and who truly saw the good in everyone,' he said. 7-11 worker, 26, dies after 'manager sat on top of her and cut off air supply'
A 7-11 worker died after her female manager allegedly suffocated her by sitting on top of her in a violent attack. Jessica McLaughlin, 26, died Wednesday morning, days after her family say she was violently assaulted by her boss in a convenience store in Hollywood, California. She suffered traumatic brain injuries after allegedly being set upon by her boss when they got into a heated argument at the end of a shift, her family told KTLA. They said the manager, who has not been named, threw a bottle at McLaughlin, pinned her to the ground then, 'sat on top of her, and didn't let her breathe.' In a GoFundMe set up by her brother, her family claimed that when her coworkers tried to step in and stop it, they were also attacked by the manager. 'When she finally got free, she collapsed. She wasn't breathing,' the fundraiser read. The manager then 'ran to the back room to try and delete the security footage', McLaughlin's family claimed, before fleeing the scene on her bike. The Los Angeles Police Department said they have identified the suspect, but have yet to make an arrest as of Thursday. The manager had already fled by the time they arrived at the scene. The LAPD did not immediately respond to a request for an update on the investigation. McLaughlin suffered brain damage due to a lack of oxygen during the ordea, and was hospitalized for several days before she passed away Wednesday. Her heartbroken family wrote in their fundraiser that they stayed by her side throughout her time in hospital, 'praying for some kind of miracle.' 'But the damage from the lack of oxygen was too much. Her brain had stopped functioning,' they wrote. On Wednesday they made the heart wrenching decision to switch off her life support machine. 'After getting second opinions and doing everything we could, we have to make the impossible decision to let her go,' the family explained. Her father Clancey told KTLA that his daughter was bullied while working at the 7-11, specifically by the manager who is accused of causing her death. A 7-11 spokesperson told the outlet that the company is fully cooperating with the police investigation, and said the suspect was fired. 'Our hearts are with those impacted during this difficult time,' the company said in a statement. McLaughlin's family described her as someone who, 'had a way of making people feel safe, accepted, and loved'. 'You could come to her with anything and know you wouldn't be judged,' their statement read. 'She was the kind of person who rooted for the underdog, who lifted people up when they were down, and who truly saw the good in everyone. 'She had such a beautiful soul and deserved so much better than the way her life was taken from her.' In an update on Wednesday after McLaughlin's family decided to take her off life support, her brother Sean wrote that her family's 'hearts are shattered'.

Lincolnshire Police investigate fourth arson attack in Grantham in two weeks
Police said there could "easily" have been fatalities in the latest in a series of arson attacks in a Lincolnshire town. Lincolnshire Police said it was currently treating the fire on Dysart Road in Grantham as an isolated incident - but has not ruled out potential links with three previous attacks. The blaze, which happened at about 11.30pm on Tuesday, damaged the roof and first floor of the property and the fire fight left the interior flooded. A neighbouring property was also damaged. An online fundraiser said a woman and her daughter who lived in the semi-detached property "lost everything" in the fire. A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: "The family of the property affected have been displaced indefinitely as a result of this fire, which thankfully did not cause any injuries. "This is largely down to the swift actions by the neighbours in Dysart Road who acted very quickly in alerting the fire service and banging on doors to get people to safety. Had they not, we could easily have been talking about fatalities." Kira Louise, who organised a Go Fund Me page for the affected family, said: "Due to this unfortunate circumstance, they are now left with nothing but themselves and the clothes that are on their back." The latest fire followed arson attacks on two properties on Manthorpe Road in Grantham in the early hours of 23 and 26 June. A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson on 26 June. A fire was also started in hedges at the rear of a property in Bedford Close, Grantham, just after 5.30am on 29 June. Lincolnshire Police said detectives investigating the latest incident were "keeping an open mind" about possible links to the other fires. Officers want to speak to two young men who were seen in balaclavas on electric bikes in the area of Dysart Road.
