ASBU Director General Praises the Iraqi Media Network's Efforts in Hosting the Arab Media Conference

The Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union ASBU, Abdelrahim Suleiman, expressed his appreciation on Thursday for the efforts of the Iraqi Media Network in hosting the Arab Media Conference.
In his remarks during the conference attended by an Iraqi News Agency INA reporter, Suleiman extended his 'gratitude and appreciation to Iraq, its leadership and people for the warm welcome and generous hospitality.' He also conveyed 'sincere respect and appreciation to the Prime Minister of Iraq for his direct supervision of the conference proceedings.'
He added that 'four years ago, the Union launched its first initiative with a strong will to solidify its media mission. Through the annual forum, we aim to establish a space for in-depth reflection and a platform for dialogue on the most pressing contemporary issues.'
Suleiman noted that 'in a short period, the conference has achieved tangible results,' emphasizing 'the importance of keeping pace with the challenges of the present reality, especially regarding climate change and the role of media in addressing it, given that it poses a real threat to human life.'
He also commended 'the joint efforts in organizing this conference, which began early in collaboration between the Arab States Broadcasting Union and the Iraqi Media Network under the leadership of Karim Hammadi.'
He concluded, 'I can only highly value the tremendous efforts made to ensure the success of this important event. We are confident that the conference, along with the rich discussions it generates, will pave the way for achieving impactful and meaningful outcomes.'

Organized by the Iraqi Media Network with the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), the conference, themed The Role of Media in Confronting Climate Change, has drawn wide official and media participation from across the Arab world. The event is seen as a milestone in Iraq's return to the regional media landscape. Iraqi musician Mustafa Zayer, who performed at the opening, noted Baghdad's exceptional days, with even its music turning more joyful. Tunisian journalist Duha Tliq, on her third visit, remarked, 'Iraq has changed a lot; I saw reconstruction and restored hope… Iraq is on the right path.' Samah Mawzelati, also from Tunisia, praised the organization, generosity, and welcome, highlighting the media's crucial role in simplifying complex climate issues. Ahmed Yahya from Comoros was impressed by the advanced level of topic presentation. Discussions have covered desertification, water scarcity, and AI in climate reporting. In his speech announcing the conference's closing statement, attended by a correspondent for the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Karim Hammadi, head of the Iraqi Media Network, said, "Thank you for organizing this successful conference, and thanks and appreciation to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani for his unlimited support for this conference and all initiatives that bring Arabs together in Iraq and Baghdad, as well as for their unlimited support for the Iraqi Media Network." He added: "Thanks and appreciation to the Arab League and the Arab States Broadcasting Union for their participation and support in holding this conference.
