CM Yogi warns against defaming Kanwariyas, Kanwar Yatra

LUCKNOW: Cautioning against 'defaming' Kanwariyas or Kanwar Yatra, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said his government would act strictly by naming and shaming them publicly those who would be caught creating ruckus during the Yatra.
Speaking at an event near Dulhera Chowki in Meerut on Sunday, the UP CM also urged the devotees to practise restraint and desist from taking the law into their hands. However, the CM showered flowers on kanwariyas during his Meerut visit while returning from Delhi.
Meanwhile, the CM's assertion came a day after seven kanwariyas were booked for assaulting a CRPF personnel in Mirzapur. On Sunday, three of the Kanwariyas were held by the district police.
However, smelling a rat in the entire controversy, the CM said: 'If anyone creates ruckus to defame the Kanwar Yatra, then we have CCTV footage of all of them. After the Kanwar Yatra is over, their posters would be displayed in public.'
'Where there is enthusiasm, excitement, faith and devotion, some elements will constantly try to disturb that bonhomie and defame the devotion and faith…Unmask them, keep them away from you at all costs. Do not allow them to enter your circle. … approach the administration instead of taking the law into your hands,' added CM Yogi.
'Sayiyam banana chahiye.. Hum Kanwar Yatra jo leja rahe hain..Hum dusaron ki bhi pareshaniyon ko samjhen (Show restraint… We need to understand the problem of others),' he said while asking the Kanwariyas to be within the limit of law and order.

Yogi govt hikes minimum wage to ₹252 for agricultural workers

Lucknow: In a landmark decision aimed at empowering agricultural workers, the Yogi govt has significantly revised the minimum wage rates, fixing them at Rs 252 per day across the state. The move is intended to ensure that adult labourers engaged in agricultural activities in all districts earn at least Rs 6,552 per month. The revised wage structure is set to benefit lakhs of workers involved not only in traditional farming but also in allied sectors such as animal husbandry, beekeeping, and poultry farming. "By guaranteeing fair compensation, the government aims to provide greater financial security and a more dignified standard of living for rural labourers," said principal secretary, labour and employment department, MK Shanmuga Sundaram. "The revised minimum wage will apply to all types of farming activities across Uttar Pradesh. This includes traditional farming, mushroom cultivation, and labour involved in transporting crops to markets. It also covers allied sectors like dairy farming, animal husbandry, beekeeping, poultry farming, and all related support work," he added. The Yogi government has also clarified that wages may now be paid in cash, partly in cash, in kind (such as farm produce), or through digital modes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top 15 Most Beautiful Women in the World Undo However, in every case, the total wage must not be less than the newly set minimum rate. This step is expected to promote digital transactions in rural areas and improve transparency in wage payments. To protect short-term workers, the hourly wage rate must not be less than one-sixth of the daily wage. The govt has also stated that if a worker is already being paid more than the new minimum wage, the higher amount will continue to be paid and will be treated as their new personal minimum wage. An official spokesperson said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has consistently emphasised that protecting workers' rights is a top priority for his govt. The spokesperson noted, "Previously, the state registered crores of unorganised workers through the e-Shram portal and connected them to government welfare schemes. This new wage notification is another important step in that direction. By encouraging fair wages and digital payments, this move aims to make Uttar Pradesh not only a top agricultural producer but also a welfare-driven state for agricultural labourers. "

HC orders status quo on process of govt schools' pairing in Sitapur till Aug 21

Lucknow: A Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court on Thursday directed the UP govt to maintain the status quo on the process of pairing of primary schools in Sitapur district till Aug 21. The court passed the interim order after observing some discrepancies in pairing of the schools in the district. The bench, however, clarified that its interim order neither questions the merit of the schools pairing policy nor its implementation. A bench of Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Justice Jaspreet Singh passed the interim order on two special appeals filed separately by Master Nitish Kumar and Master Dharm Veer through their guardians. The bench observed: "Till the next date, only in respect of district Sitapur, on account of the fact that certain glaring discrepancies have been noticed by the court which are sought to be explained by the respondents, status quo as it exists today, qua the implementation of the exercise undertaken by the respondents for pairing of schools shall be maintained. " The special appeals were filed against the single judge bench's order of July 7, which had dismissed the writ petitions against the state govt order (dated June 16, 2025) on pairing or merger of primary schools which had poor strength of students. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top 15 Most Beautiful Women in the World Undo The appellants pleaded that paired schools violate the norm of having a school in the neighborhood under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, and in violation of Article 21-A of the Constitution of India. In the course of hearing, the bench found that the single judge had relied on some documents produced by the state govt. As the said documents were not part of record, the state counsel filed them on affidavit. Taking them on record, the bench asked the appellants' counsel to respond to them as well by next hearing.
