Don't pretend persecution when you are probed for corruption: Congress to KTR
Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, along with Rohin Reddy and Malreddy Ramreddy, he asked Mr. Rama Rao to stop playing the role of a film hero and behave like a responsible politician. 'The film dialogues uttered will not make you a film star like Mahesh Babu of the movie Bharat Ane Nenu and stop drawing inspiration from movie dialogues. '
The MP also took a jibe at KTR's apparent belief that going to jail will get him to the top post. 'You are not a revolutionary like Alluri Sitarama Raju or Bhagat Singh but a politician involved in corruption,' he reminded. 'Don't pretend as if you are persecuted while actually being probed for misuse of power and corruption.'
Mr. Kiran Reddy claimed that KTR was linked to a series of controversial incidents abroad. 'KTR's close friend Kedar died mysteriously overseas. Another associate, Prabhakar Rao, fled to America. These things cannot be ignored,' he remarked.

Patel power play as AAP challenges BJP Gujarat citadel
AHMEDABAD: The political battleground in Gujarat is witnessing a renewed churn around the influential Patidar community, with multiple players vying for dominance in this electoral bloc. While the BJP continues to command a grip on the Patel vote bank, bolstered by its top leadership comprising influential Patidar figures, emerging challenges from the AAP and internal lobbying within the Congress are beginning to shift the political discourse. The AAP, under the leadership of Gopal Italia, has stepped up efforts to erode the BJP's dominance in the Patidar belt. Though the Congress has failed to make a lasting dent in the BJP's support among Patels, it is currently witnessing a power tussle within its own state unit. While its Patidar leaders are pushing for a Patel to be appointed as the new state Congress president, a counter-lobby led by the OBC bloc is pressing for an OBC leader to take charge. A political confrontation has turned Morbi into the epicentre of Gujarat's electoral drama. The spark came when BJP MLA Kanti Amrutiya, during a public event, challenged AAP's Gopal Italia to contest elections from his Morbi seat. Amrutiya vowed to resign from the assembly on Monday and even pledged Rs 2 crore to Italia if he managed to win. 'If he has the support of the Patidar community, let him prove it in Morbi,' Amrutiya asserted. Vankaner BJP MLA Jitu Somani threw his weight behind Amrutiya's challenge. 'If Italia wins from Morbi, I will resign from my seat in Vankaner. Let him put in his papers on Monday and enter the ring,' Somani declared. Gopal Italia accepted the challenge in a video response. 'If the BJP MLAs truly resign, I'm ready to contest. One must not go back on their word. I accept this challenge,' Italia expressed.

Taiwan says it detected 11 Chinese aircraft, 7 naval vessels, 1 ship as it prepares to resist China's invasion
The Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence (MND) said on Sunday it detected 11 Chinese military aircraft, seven naval vessels, and one official ship operating around Taiwan until 6 am (local time) on Sunday. '11 sorties of PLA [China's People's Liberation Army] aircraft, 7 PLAN vessels and 1 official ship operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today,' the ministry said in a post on X. The ministry further claimed that nine out of 11 sorties crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's southwestern and eastern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). '9 out of 11 sorties crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's southwestern and eastern ADIZ,' the ministry said. Taiwan's ministry said it has monitored the situation and responded. In response to China's action, Taiwan's armed forces deployed aircraft, naval ships, and coastal missile systems to monitor the situation. Earlier on Saturday, the Taiwanese MND detected 34 PLA aircraft, eight PLAN vessels and one official ship operating around itself. In a post on X, it said, "34 PLA aircraft, 8 PLAN vessels and 1 official ship operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC 8) today. 25 out of 34 sorties crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's northern, central and southwestern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded." China considers Taiwan its own territory and uses such deployments to advertise its threat to encircle and possibly invade the self-governing island. China also hopes to intimidate Taiwan's population of 23 million and wear down its equipment and the morale of its armed forces. China has even warned time and again that it would control Taiwan by force if necessary, Earlier, on June 28, Taiwan President Lai Ching-te highlighted China's use of influence warfare and military intimidation aimed at annexing Taiwan as part of its broader "great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation" policy and expanding hegemony in the western Pacific, Taipei Times reported. He warned that this threat would persist regardless of changes in Taiwan's government leadership. While addressing DPP's national congress in his role as party chairman, Lai identified the greatest challenge in domestic politics as the opposition-controlled legislature has bypassed proper procedures, passed bills contradicting the Constitution, and undermined government operations by drastically cutting central government budgets. At the Congress, held under the theme "Better democracy, better Taiwan," he emphasised that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) must stand united with the public in their mass recall movement to protect Taiwan's sovereignty and democracy, Taipei Times reported. Emphasising the vital role of civil society, Lai credited Taiwan's vibrant democracy to the enduring strength of its citizens, recalling movements like the Wild Lily protests in 1990 and the Sunflower movement in 2014, where Taiwanese rallied against policies perceived as pro-China and harmful to Taiwan's sovereignty. On July 12, Reuters reported that Taiwan's military began deploying one of its newest and most precise strike weapons as part of intensifying drills meant to showcase the island's determination to resist any Chinese invasion. Two armoured trucks with HIMARS - High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems - were seen manoeuvring around the city of Taichung near Taiwan's central coast on the fourth of 10 days of its most comprehensive annual Han Kuang exercises yet.

Shehbaz Sharif Denies Use Of Nuclear Weapons During Conflict With India, Says Paks Nuke Not For Aggression
New Delhi: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday categorically rejected suggestions of a potential nuclear exchange with India during the recent military standoff, asserting that Pakistan's nuclear arsenal is intended solely for peaceful purposes and national defence. Speaking to a gathering of Pakistani students in Islamabad, Sharif addressed concerns about the use of nuclear weapons amid the four-day military escalation triggered by the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, India, which claimed 26 civilian lives. In response to the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, a major military offensive targeting terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Indian armed forces conducted strikes on May 7, hitting nine terror sites, including locations in Bahawalpur, reportedly a stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist group. Sharif confirmed that 55 Pakistani citizens lost their lives during the Indian strikes, but emphasized that Pakistan had responded 'with full might.' However, he ruled out any consideration of nuclear retaliation. "Pakistan's nuclear programme is designed for peaceful purposes and national self-defence. It is not intended for aggression,' he reiterated. The Prime Minister also addressed swirling rumors of a brewing power struggle within the country's top leadership. Dismissing speculation that President Asif Ali Zardari might be forced to resign and that Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir was eyeing the presidency, Sharif called such claims "baseless." 'Field Marshal Asim Munir has never shown any interest in becoming the president, and there is no such plan under consideration,' Sharif told The News in a separate interview. The comments come amid heightened political tension and a recent surge in military activity, raising international concerns about regional stability in South Asia. Sharif's remarks appear aimed at both reassuring the public and signaling restraint to the global community.
