Rajasthan government official arrested for spying, links to Pakistan ISI under probe
Police say Khan was in contact with several former officials of the Pakistan High Commission, including a man named Ehsan-ur-Raheem, also known as Danish. Investigations show Khan had links with multiple operatives connected to Pakistan's spy agency ISI. He reportedly met Danish several times at the Pakistan Embassy and was also in touch with another individual named Sohail Qamar.
According to intelligence sources, Khan visited Pakistan seven times in recent years, with visa help from his contacts in the Pakistani embassy. He was in regular contact with at least 13 people linked to ISI through WhatsApp and other encrypted messaging apps. He is also accused of sharing sensitive information about Indian Army movements and helping send other people to Pakistan.
Inspector General of CID-CB (Security), Vishnukant Gupta, said, 'He has been in contact with multiple Pakistani nationals through encrypted messaging apps. His phone revealed several unknown Pakistani numbers, which he failed to provide satisfactory explanations for.'
Khan was presented in court on Tuesday and has been sent to police custody until June 10 for further questioning. Officials are also looking into his family connections in Pakistan's Sindh province, especially in places like Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Ghotki.
The arrest has sparked a political controversy in Rajasthan. The BJP has targeted the Congress party over Khan's past links to former minister Saleh Mohammad. Congress has not yet issued a statement. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has demanded a full investigation. 'Anyone compromising national security must be punished, regardless of their political affiliations,' he said.
The case has raised fresh concerns about internal security and the lack of proper background checks before appointing people to sensitive government posts.

"It is not just about 52 lakhs. It is not just about Bihar, they cheated in Maharashtra. We have asked questions of the Election Commission, asked them to show us the voters list, but they did not show us the voters list. We asked for videography, they changed the law. One crore new voters had come in Maharashtra, and the election was stolen," Mr. Gandhi told reporters in Parliament House complex. 'In Karnataka, we have found out 'bhayankar chori' (massive theft). I will show it in black and white to you and the Election Commission. I will show in black and white how the 'chori' is done and from where. We have it in black and white in Karnataka,' the former Congress president said. In Bihar, votes of SC, ST, OBC, and minority brothers and sisters are being stolen in the name of SIR , he claimed. "We will not sit quietly. The INDIA bloc will fight the battle for people's rights from Parliament to the streets," Mr. Gandhi said. The Opposition has been protesting in both houses of Parliament against the SIR, alleging that the EC's exercise was aimed at disenfranchising voters in Bihar ahead of the Assembly elections.

'Threatened with impeachment': TMC says Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned under NDA government pressure; claims Rajnath Singh to be next VP
TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee (Image credits: PTI) NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee on Wednesday claimed that former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was forced to resign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior cabinet ministers. He further alleged that Dhankhar was 'threatened' with an impeachment motion if he did not step down. The TMC leader also said that Union defence minister Rajnath Singh "would be made" the next Vice President of India. "Jagdeep Dhankhar was forced to resign by the Prime Minister and other Cabinet ministers. He was threatened that if he didn't resign before 9 pm on that day, an impeachment motion would be brought against him. This is a pressure tactic by the PM and other Cabinet ministers,' he said as quoted by ANI. 'Earlier, one Election Commissioner resigned just before the elections... It is being heard that now Rajnath Singh will be made vice president," Banerjee added. Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation was announced on Monday evening, coinciding with the opening day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament . Dhankhar, in his official resignation letter, cited health concerns as the reason for stepping down. "To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as the Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the constitution," he wrote. Following the resignation, several political leaders questioned its timing and the official explanation, calling the move suspicious. The Congress described the abrupt exit as a 'forced resignation.' Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, as reported by ANI, "The government should answer why he resigned. I can see 'dal mein kuch kaala hai.' His health is fine. He used to defend RSS and BJP always. Who and what is behind his resignation should be known to the country." Deputy leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, also commented on the issue, alleging that PM Modi's remark on Dhankar's exit indicated the decision was political in nature.
