Wendy's adds old-school toys to take on McDonald's Happy Meal
As little kids, nothing was better than getting a "free" toy with your food. It didn't matter if the toy was a simple collectible baseball card inside a cereal box or an exclusive Tamagotchi inside a McDonald's Happy Meal. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter Sometimes, we would only take a few bites of the food, because at the end of the day, we were too distracted playing with our new toy to eat, unless you had strict parents who wouldn't allow you to open the toy until you had finished all your food. Nonetheless, kids are very persuasive, and because many restaurants and fast-food chains know kids love receiving a surprise with their meal, they have invested time and resources into launching exciting limited-time toys. Related: McDonald's brings back experimental menu item 13 years later As the pioneer of the fast-food kids' meal trend, it's no surprise that McDonald's sells over 1 billion Happy Meals annually worldwide, which accounts for a big part of its sales. Others have followed in the fast-food giant's footsteps by launching their own versions of the iconic Happy Meal, but none have yet to reach McDonald's fame. However, a long-time player has begun prioritizing its Kids' Meal by joining forces with a popular toy maker that kids love. Image source:Wendy's (WEN) is partnering with toy company Hasbro (HAS) to launch a new line of Kids' Meal toys featuring Potato Head, a beloved character from the Disney (DIS) film Toy Story. This new collection of toys comprises 12 different Potato Head characters dressed in various costumes. However, this launch is unlike any others, because Wendy's is giving customers two toys, which can be mixed and matched, per meal purchased. Related: McDonald's menu adds new version of a much-mocked classic This move might be a savvy way for the fast-food chain to encourage people to visit Wendy's more often. If each purchase comes with a different set, collecting all six would only take six visits or six Kids' Meals. The new Wendy's Potato Head Kids' Meal collection is available for a limited time at all participating U.S. and Canadian restaurants while supplies last. Wendy's knows consumers' budgets have been a bit tighter due to the current uncertain economy. So the fast-food chain has unlocked a new in-app deal to make purchasing a kids' meal more affordable for parents. Fans of This Iconic Fast Food Giant Are Pleading for Its International Summer Lineup to Come to the U.S. originally appeared on Parade. Here in the U.S., we're no strangers to spotting international menu items that never make it stateside. And when it comes to our favorite fast food chains, some of these wild global creations look—and sound—way too hard to resist. Most recently, we've learned about McDonald's Hello Kitty Swirl in Hong Kong, Costco Tokyo's combo pizza slice (they're just teasing us now) and Wendy's otherworldly Mango Sticky Rice Frosty. Each mouthwatering item stirred up plenty of online buzz—though there's no telling if we'll ever get a taste. Which brings us to a truly controversial post shared online by @snackbetch, who rounded up four of this summer's wildest fast food burgers—one of which won't be hitting U.S. menus, at least for now. 😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔 'The 2025 Summer Burger Lineup is here and it's wild,' @snackbetch wrote, breaking down the details of each burger's debut for eager four juicy burgers from four different brands in the lineup, fans were naturally frustrated to learn that one would be exclusive to the UK—despite swirling rumors of a U.S. release. The culprit? McDonald's Big Arch Burger: a massive double-stack with two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of white cheddar, crispy and slivered onions, pickles, shredded lettuce and a tangy new 'Big Arch Sauce' (not to be confused with Mac sauce), all on a sesame–poppy seed bun. 'Neeeeed the Big Arch in the U.S.,' one fan pleaded. 'That Big Arch Burger is so damn good,' another added. Also included in the summer lineup: Sonic's Big Dill Smasher made with Grillo's Pickles (available now in the app, nationwide June 30), Burger King's Fiery Dragon Flame-Grilled Whopper (available now) and Wendy's bold Takis Fuego Chicken Sandwich (also available now). Rihanna Uses a Limited-Edition $3,300 Goyard Hobo Bag as Her Airport Carry-on
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Rihanna's Goyard bag collection is the envy of all It girls. She owns eight bags from the French atelier (that we know of) in various shades and silhouettes. But, as of yesterday, it seems her handbag arsenal has grown one bigger. On June 24, the pregnant pop star was snapped by the paparazzi at LAX. While some A-listers dress up for the airport, Rihanna's private jet 'fit prioritized comfort. She sported a tan hoodie, courtesy of her loungewear label, Savage x Fenty, which she kept unzipped. She styled it with a taupe tank top and Heather gray sweatpants. Rihanna continued her Speedcat streak, reaching for a beloved lavender pair from her Jan. 2025 Puma collab, distinguished by their elongated tongue. Pumas are a maternity must-have for the mom of three, having worn the pregnancy-friendly sneakers four times this month. Over the years, Rihanna has become a vintage bag connoisseur, collecting relics from Dior, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Goyard. Naturally, she rounded out this look with one of her best finds. The beauty mogul carried the Goyard's Bohème Hobo in silver, choosing the style over her Croisiere, Anjou, Alto Hatbox, or St. Louis bags. The spacious style is available in 11 hues, but Rihanna's metallic canvas colorway is the rarest of them all. The sweatsuit/Speedcat combo is one of Rihanna's calling cards. Last April, she wore the same Puma sneakers with a simple, cloud gray hoodie and oversize joggers. Then, Rihanna chose a different designer monogram, augmenting her 'fit with the Louis Vuitton's Murakami Speedy bag. Up until now, my sweatsuits have felt utterly underwhelming. Turns out, all I needed was a vintage Goyard bag to spruce things up. View Deal $74 at Savage x Fenty View Deal $39.90 at Uniqlo
