warned that the convergence of global tariff conflicts, AI disruption, and the energy transition is creating a "perfect storm" for businesses, urging companies to prioritise innovation and supply chain diversification.
Speaking at Infosys' 44th Annual General Meeting, Nilekani said businesses now face the challenge of navigating fragmented global markets amid rising regional trade barriers.
'Clearly, the world is shifting from a single global market to fragmented blocks, forcing companies to make strategic choices and navigate between regions,' he told shareholders virtually, as cited by ET.
Nilekani highlighted that bilateral and regional trade pacts have become dominant, necessitating urgent derisking strategies.
He also said the accelerating energy transition, driven by innovations in solar, wind, hydrogen, batteries, and nuclear, has added 'another layer of uncertainty,' particularly with the increased role of electricity requiring massive investments in grid infrastructure.
Addressing the impact of AI, Nilekani stated that companies must embrace foundational changes to their digital architecture to stay competitive.

'Legacy system modernisation and data architecture overhauls... are becoming increasingly unavoidable,' he said. He underscored the need for firms to develop both 'AI foundries for innovation and AI factories for scaling.'
Infosys, positioning itself as an AI-native company, has trained over 275,000 of its 320,000 employees in AI. CEO Salil Parekh, whose reappointment until March 2027 was approved by shareholders, revealed that Infosys is currently working on 400 generative AI projects.
'Using AI technologies, we have generated 10 million lines of code… and built 200 agents internally,' he said, as per ET.
Infosys is also involved in 30 AI agent-based client engagements and is actively expanding into tier-2 and 3 cities like Gandhinagar, Hubli, Coimbatore, Vizag, and Guwahati to tap regional talent pools.
Responding to shareholder concerns, Nilekani clarified that the new wave of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India is driven not by cost benefits but by innovation needs.
'GCC is no longer our competitor. They're critical clients for us on AI,' he said, affirming Infosys' strategic alignment with global R&D efforts.
On the financial front, Nilekani assured that Infosys remains committed to returning 85% of its free cash flow to shareholders during FY25–29, addressing repeated shareholder queries on buybacks and bonuses.
'Infosys offers the stability that organisations need to survive and thrive,' Nilekani concluded, reiterating that the company remains deeply relevant to clients amid sweeping industry transformations.

FII holdings in IT at 13-year low: Time to buy or brace for more pain?

Investor sentiment in India's IT services sector continues to remain bearish as foreign institutional investor (FII) holding has plummeted to a 13-year low. Domestic institutional ownership has also seen a marked decline. According to BNP Paribas, such pessimism could signal a contrarian buying opportunity — historically, low investor holdings have often preceded IT sector outperformance. The brokerage notes that the Indian IT sector is currently trading at a dividend yield of 3.2%, among the highest in the last decade, providing a cushion to valuations amid uncertainty. Despite weak sentiment, key indicators such as deal wins, pricing improvements, and hiring trends point to a relatively stable demand environment. Infosys, Persistent Favoured; Wipro, TCS Expected to Lag BNP Paribas expects Q1FY26 performance to diverge across Tier I IT firms. Infosys and Persistent Systems are forecast to post strong numbers, while TCS and Wipro may report weaker results. Infosys is projected to deliver 2.1% constant currency (CC) revenue growth, defying seasonal headwinds, whereas large-cap peers could see a -1% to -2.5% QoQ CC revenue decline. Mid-cap players like Persistent may see QoQ dollar revenue growth of 1%–4%, supported by operational efficiency and favourable currency movements. EBIT margins are likely to remain flat or decline among large caps, while mid-caps could witness improvement. Recovery Signs from Global Peers Encouraging signals from global players also fuel cautious optimism. Accenture's Q4FY25 guidance, placed at the higher end of its range, implies a rebound in organic growth. BNP Paribas highlights a shift in client conversations from 'pause' to 'leapfrog' initiatives. The brokerage maintains a positive outlook on Infosys, TCS, Persistent Systems, and HCL Technologies, while downgrading LTIMindtree to neutral following recent stock gains. It remains wary of Tech Mahindra and Wipro, citing continued underperformance risks. Sector Guidance and Outlook For FY26, Infosys may revise its growth guidance to 1.5–3.5%, while HCL Tech is expected to retain a 2–5% CC growth outlook. Wipro could project a modest -1% to +1% QoQ CC growth for Q2FY26. BNP Paribas concludes that despite short-term headwinds and the possibility of trade tension escalations, the bearish investor positioning is already pricing in much of the downside. If macroeconomic indicators stay supportive — particularly in the US — the current levels could offer long-term accumulation opportunities in select IT names. Where are silver prices headed? Rich Dad Poor Dad author sees ‘explosion' in July; here's the outlook

Best-selling author Robert Kiyosaki has once again stirred the investment world, this time with a forecast that silver prices are set to 'explode in July.' Taking to social media platform X, the Rich Dad Poor Dad author called silver the 'best asymmetric buy' currently available, highlighting its high reward-to-risk ratio. 'Silver is the best 'asymmetric buy' today. That means more possible upside gain with little downside risk. Silver prices will explode in July,' Kiyosaki wrote. He further added, 'Everyone can afford silver today… but not tomorrow,' urging followers to act while prices remain accessible. 'Your profits are made when you buy… Not when you sell,' he said. Kiyosaki's dramatic prediction comes as market analysts also turn bullish on silver's prospects, citing a combination of geopolitical tension, industrial demand, and favourable market dynamics. Jigar Trivedi, senior research analyst, currencies & commodities at Reliance Securities, highlighted silver's growing appeal as a safe-haven asset amid rising geopolitical tensions and trade uncertainties. He told ET that while gold continues to hold its ground as a traditional safety net in times of crisis, Trivedi pointed out that silver is gaining an edge due to its increasing industrial demand, particularly from the electric vehicle and solar energy sectors. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Official IQ Test - Updated 2025 IQ International Undo Trivedi also expected COMEX silver prices to climb to $36–$37 per ounce, with MCX silver potentially reaching Rs 1,10,000 per kg within a month. He attributed the projected gains to a weaker dollar and rising safe-haven demand and urged investors to maintain a diversified portfolio, suggesting an allocation of 12–15% in silver. Jateen Trivedi, VP research analyst at LKP Securities, expected a structural turnaround in the white metal's price trajectory. He pointed out that silver, after a prolonged downtrend since its 2011 peak of $49.50, began a significant upward reversal in 2020. Silver has seen a sharp rally of nearly 60% over the past two years, with prices rising from Rs 87,000 to Rs 1,04,500 in 2025. According to Jateen, the metal could climb further to Rs 1,10,000–Rs 1,20,000 this year, driven by consistent demand from green energy industries and the ripple effects of global geopolitical tensions. He continues to favour a buy-on-dips strategy for investors aiming to tap into the current upward trend. Naveen Mathur, director, commodities & currencies at Anand Rathi Shares and Stock Brokers, highlighted that silver's rally to 13-year highs may be part of a larger, multi-year trend. The recent surge in silver prices has been fuelled by a combination of strong industrial demand, safe-haven buying, and persistent trade-related uncertainties, according to Mathur. He believed that silver is poised to outperform gold in the second half of 2025, forecasting a trading range of $38.70–$41.50 per ounce, roughly Rs 1,15,000–Rs 1,23,000 per kg in MCX futures. Looking ahead, Mathur expects silver to climb as high as $50 per ounce globally, or Rs 1,50,000–Rs 1,70,000 per kg in the Indian market over the next three to five years. He attributes this bullish long-term view to ongoing supply deficits, with 2025 marking the fifth straight year of market shortfall. While Kiyosaki's prediction of a sharp spike in silver prices this July may seem ambitious, the current momentum, underpinned by macroeconomic trends, strong industrial use, and tightening supply, suggests silver is likely to stay in the spotlight. Leasing of office space for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) rose by 24% in FY 2025, reaching 31.8 million sq ft across seven major Indian cities, (Photo for representational purposes only)(Unsplash) Bengaluru emerged as the top performer, with GCCs accounting for 65% of the city's total office absorption, the highest among the top seven cities. This marks a significant jump from 55% in the previous fiscal, reaffirming Bengaluru's position as the leading hub for GCCs in India. The report noted that the IT-ITeS sector continued to dominate GCC leasing, accounting for a 46% share in FY 2025, although this was down from 53% a year earlier. Meanwhile, the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) sector saw its share surge to 22% from 14% in the previous year. Also Read: US firms expand office leasing footprint in India; GCCs account for over two-thirds of activity Of the total 31.8 million sq ft leased by GCCs last fiscal, Fortune 500 companies accounted for 13.5 million sq ft, an increase of 25% from 10.9 million sq ft in FY 2024. Notably, Fortune 500 firms contributed to 47% of all GCC leasing in FY 2025, further underscoring the growing appeal of India, particularly Bengaluru, as a global GCC destination. In Pune, IT-ITeS sector accounted for 61% of the total number of GCCs in the city, the highest among other sectors. It is followed by BFSI at 16%, engineering and manufacturing at 7%, automobile at 5%, and healthcare and life sciences at 3%, it noted. IT-ITeS sector dominated GCC absorption with 54% share in FY 2025 in Chennai but the share declined from 61% a year earlier. Despite accounting for only 8% of the total number of GCCs in the city, the share of healthcare and life sciences in absorption increased from 4% to 14% during the same period, it noted. In Mumbai, the city's overall absorption increased by 52% in FY 2025 over the previous year. The uptick was primarily driven by the growth in the GCC landscape as the share of GCCs in the city's total absorption increased from 15% to 26% during the same period, it said. The share of Fortune 500 companies in the overall area absorbed by GCCs rose to 50% in FY 2025 in the NCR from 40% a year ago. These companies leased larger office spaces in the region, which can be substantiated by the fact that the area transacted under large-sized deals increased drastically by 142% in FY 2025, it said. In Hyderabad, GCCs accounted for 46% of the city's overall absorption in FY 2025, the second-highest contribution among the top seven cities. However, the area absorbed under the large-sized deals decreased by 5% in FY 2025 over the previous year, indicating a cautious approach by GCCs in the city while leasing larger office spaces. 'GCCs contribute significantly to the office market in India, accounting for over 40% of the absorption recorded in the past two years. This share is expected to grow even further fueled by the expansion of large conglomerates from various industries such as IT-ITeS, BFSI, healthcare and lifesciences, engineering and manufacturing, and consulting services,' said Shrinivas Rao, FRICS, CEO, Vestian. IT-ITeS sector continued to dominate GCC absorption with 46% share in FY 2025 The IT-ITeS sector continued to dominate GCC absorption with 46% share in FY 2025; however, the share contracted from 53% over the previous year. On the other hand, the share of the BFSI sector surged to 22% in FY 2025 from 14% a year earlier. Similarly, the share of healthcare and life sciences sectors also witnessed an increase from 5% to 8% during the same period, showcasing the growing diversification in the GCC landscape. While the share of engineering and manufacturing dropped from 9% to 4%, the share of consulting services remained largely stable at 6% in FY 2025, it noted. Karan Chopra, chairman and co-CEO, Table Space said "The demand from GCCs for Grade A office spaces in India remains strong. Within this segment, we are seeing a distinct preference for managed workspace solutions. This trend is clearly reflected in the growing adoption of Table Space's managed office offerings.'
