Wedding of the Week: Two gowns, two bands, and one big party for Kerry couple's summer wedding
The Kerry couple became an item in April 2020. 'We met online around the start of covid but had known each other through friends,' says Maureen, from Fenit.

She and Kevin, from Currow, headed to Vienna to celebrate New Year's Eve 2022, where that December 31, he booked an evening at the opera and popped the question as the clock struck midnight.

Maureen, who owns a hair salon with her mother Frances, Brush'n'Blush, and Kevin, a secondary school teacher, were married in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Currow, by Fr John Buckley, and held their reception in the Killarney Oaks Hotel.
Helping them celebrate were both sets of parents, Frances and Gerard McCarthy and Maureen and Maurice Fitzgerald.

'My grandmother, Patsy Nevin, was my official witness,' says Maureen. 'It's a memory I will cherish forever.'
Niamh Sheehy was the maid of honour and Kirstin O'Shea, Nicola Warren and Fenagh O'Mahoney were the bridesmaids with Padraig O'Shea as the best man and JJ Hanrahan, Conor O'Leary and JJ Cahill as the groomsmen.

The bride's nieces, Maisey and Abbie McCarthy, were the flowergirls. Horan's Wedding Cars ensured the newlyweds travelled in style.

Maureen wore two different super-elegant bespoke gowns by Irish designer Kathy De Stafford for her wedding day.
'My vision for the first dress was a classic satin strapless gown with buttons down the back and a two-tiered veil, which I wore for the ceremony and meal,' she says.

'I wanted my second dress to be more of a party dress, and it was an ankle-length satin dress with an embellished corset top. I wore both dresses with satin Valentino sling-back heels.'

The groom and his party sourced their suits at Red Church, Cork City.
The bride had no shortage of professional consultants.

'My good friend Zoe O'Carroll, who is a talented makeup artist, made the trip back from Australia for the wedding and did an amazing job on my makeup. My hair was done by the sister of my maid of honour, Grace McDonnell, so it was very personal to have the two of them with me on the morning,' she says.

'Being a wedding hairstylist myself, I had a massive insight into how the day would go, I really wanted to enjoy it all and not worry about small things that you don't realise until after really don't matter.'

Photographer Padraig Healy ( padraighealy.com) and videographer Mike Grace (Vision & Vows) were behind the lens.
'I was lucky enough to have worked with both my photographer and videographer before and was 100% confident to follow their instructions. I let all the suppliers do their thing on the day and trusted the process. My bridesmaid Kristin was married the month after us, and I had the pleasure of doing her hair and being her bridesmaid on her big day, too.'

Maura Sheehy of Maura's Cottage Flowers created the floral décor. Two wedding bands ensured the dance floor was full, Rouge and Super Ceili ('instead of a DJ — it was so much fun!').
For the day-two celebrations in the bride's local, The Tankard Bar and Restaurant in Fenit, singer Seamus Harty, followed by The Little Creatures, entertained.

'Day two was electric,' adds Maureen. 'We wanted the whole weekend to be a big party.'
The Currow-based newlyweds enjoyed a honeymoon organised by Nicola Browne Travel Counsellors that included Cancun, Orlando, and Yosemite National Park.

Butter Bling: Irish designer teases glitzy Kerrygold purse
Hold onto your toast, Irish designer Maya Grisham has just teased what might be the most gloriously over-the-top accessory of the year. Taking to Instagram, the brand known for its crystal embellished accessories, shared an image of a Kerrygold handbag encrusted with Swarovski crystals. Known for her tongue-in-cheek takes on Irish iconography, Grisham seems to have outdone herself with this recent homage, even topping her previous Guinness can cross body and Tayto packet purse. Pic: Jakub Porzycki/NurPhoto via Getty Images 'For those who love @kerrygoldirl,' the brand captioned the mock-up image. 'Super tempted to make a Kerry Gold Bag. Should we make a prototype?,' they further teased. Unsurprisingly, fans of the brand melted faster than butter on a hot pan (we couldn't help ourselves, sorry). View this post on Instagram A post shared by @mayagrishamofficial 'OMG I need this,' one user wrote. 'Omg this is gas I love it,' another penned. While the official Kerry Gold Ireland account commented: 'You don't need to ask us twice.' Earlier this month, Kerrygold launched a brand new flavour in the United States, leaving their Irish customers fuming. Pic: Kerrygold USA/ Instagram As we mentioned, the brand is no stranger to paying tribute to popular Irish motifs, but what should she try her hand at next? Our money is on a purple Snack bar or a bottle of Cidona. Earlier this month, Kerrygold launched a brand new flavour in the United States, leaving their Irish customers fuming. The beloved brand has been upping their game in recent years with new varieties of their products including Garlic & Herb butter as well as a spreadable cheese range. Now, American customers have been getting their hands on their latest butter blend, Cinnamon & Sugar. Californian creator Cait Regan took to TikTok to share a glimpse at the delicious delicacy, which is coated in brown sugar and cinnamon. 'It smells like a churro,' she explained, 'I'm not okay.' Cait captioned the clip 'cinnamon sugar kerrygold butter GOODBYE,' with the video generating more than 30,000 likes. Many of the comments were people in awe after learning of the new butter variation, while others were Irish people literally raging that it wasn't a product available in Ireland.

Patrick Kielty's grand gesture that won over Cat Deeley as couple announce split
RTÉ Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty and British TV presenter Cat Deeley shocked fans on Tuesday as they announced their separation after more than a decade of marriage. The couple, who share two children, released a joint statement on Tuesday confirming the sad news. "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated," they said. "There is no other party involved. "We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family's privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment." Kielty and Deeley first met in 2002 while they hosted BBC talent show Fame Academy, however, the pair's relationship remained purely platonic until a grand romantic gesture from the Irish comedian eventually swept Deeley off her feet. Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty wed in 2012 (Image: Instagram) During an appearance on RTE's Late Late Show in 2020, Deeley revealed the sweet story about how the pair got together, and Kielty's incredible birthday surprise that 'knocked her socks off'. "Since we did [TV show] Fame Academy and all that. We would always call each other on birthdays or Christmas, or we'd see each other occasionally or whatever it was," Deeley told then-Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy. "Anyway, there was a night where it was the day before my birthday. I can't even remember what birthday it was now! It was 30-something. Anyway, he called me and he spoke to me on the phone. He said, 'Oh, what are you doing for your birthday? I'm just ringing to say happy birthday'. "I said, 'Oh, we're going to the Beverly Hills Hotel. We're just going to have a late brunch; it's going to be very civilised. It's a shame you're not here, otherwise you could come'. And he was like, 'Well, eh - I'll be there'. "Now, bear in mind at this point, Ryan, he was at the Maghera Inn down the end of the road," Deeley continued. "And in Ireland I think it was approximately three o'clock in the morning, so I wasn't too sure! I was like, 'Yeah, yeah, sure you will. Sure you will, Charlie Big Bananas, sure you'll be there! I'll hold you a seat, how about that? "Anyway, I didn't know this, but he basically stumbled home from the pub, set an alarm clock, booked a flight to go back to Heathrow - I think the first flight out. He set his alarm for five, first flight out was seven to land into Heathrow at eight to get on the 9:30 flight to fly to LA. Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley arrive at the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at Microsoft Theater (Image: Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic) "He flew to LA with his hand luggage, jumped in a cab, told the story to the cabbie. The cabbie was like, 'Are you sure you don't want me to wait? I can wait for you. I can wait. That'll be ok'. He's like, 'No, no! It's good, it's good!' "[He] Walked into the Beverly Hills Hotel, dropped his bag at concierge and walked in. At which point I fell off my seat. And he then proceeded to be utterly charming to everybody around the table. Everybody slightly fell in love with him. As did I. And he didn't go home for 10 days." Kielty is a self-confessed "born romantic" and ahead of hosting his first Late Late Show Valentine's special last year, the TV presenter opened up about 'following his heart' and flying to Los Angeles to surprise Deeley for lunch. 'I am an absolute born romantic… If I'd a quid for every rom-com I've cried at," he said at the time. 'I followed my heart all the way to Los Angeles to surprise my now wife for lunch. Twelve years and two kids later, I think it worked out.' Kielty and Deeley went public with their relationship in May 2012 and the couple secretly tied the knot in September of that year with their close family and friends present. They welcomed their eldest son Milo in January 2016, and their second son James Patrick in June 2018.
