An additional sleeper class coach has been provided in the following trains to clear extra rush of passengers:
Train No. 12694 Thoothukudi-Chennai Egmore Pearl City Express would be augmented from May to 15; Train No. 12693 Chennai Egmore-Thoothukudi Peal City Express from May 14 to 16.
Additional coach would be provided in Train No.16343 Thiruvananthapuram Central - Madurai Amritha Express on May 14 and 15 and in Train No. 16344 Madurai - Thiruvananthapuram Central Amritha Express on May 15 and 16.
Additional coach in Train No. 22657 Tambaram - Nagercoil Express would be provided on May 14 and in Train No. 22658 Nagercoil - Tambaram Express on May 15, a statement said.
Additional stoppage
Southern Railway will provide additional stoppage for one minute for two trains on an experimental basis.
Train No. 12605/12606 Chennai Egmore – Karaikudi – Chennai Egmore Pallavan Superfast Express will stop at Pennadam for a minute on both directions. The Chennai Egmore – Karaikudi train will stop at 7.01 p.m. and leave at 7.02 p.m. with effect from May 15. In the return direction, the Karaikudi-Chennai Egmore train will stop at Pennadam at 8.27 a.m. and leave at 8.28 a.m.
Train No. 16791/16792 Thoothukudi – Palakkad – Thoothukudi Palaruvi Express will stop at Kallidaikurichi station with effect from May 15. The Thoothukudi-Palakkad train would stop at Kallidaikurichi at 11.21 p.m. and leave at 11.22 p.m. In the return direction, the train would stop at Kallidaikurichi at 3.45 a.m. and leave at 3.46 a.m.

Southern Railway has announced changes in train services in order to take up track renewal works being carried out between Vadippatti and Samayanallur railway stations on Dindigul – Madurai sector. Partially cancelled Train No.16322 Coimbatore – Nagercoil Express, scheduled to leave Coimbatore at 8 a.m. will be partially cancelled between Dindigul and Nagercoil from August 1 to 23 except on August 15. An unreserved special train will be operated from Dindigul to Nagercoil, from August 1 to 23 except on Sundays and Wednesdays and August 15, a statement said. The train will leave Dindigul at 3.30 p.m. and reach Nagercoil at 9.05 p.m. It will have the same stoppages as of Train No.16322 Coimbatore – Nagercoil Express. The service of Train No. 16847 Mayiladuthurai - Sengottai Express scheduled to leave Mayiladuthurai on August 3, 6, 10, 13, 17 and 20 will be diverted via Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Karaikkudi, Manamadurai and Virudhunagar. Skipping of stoppages The train service will skip its stoppages at Manapparai, Vaiyampatti, Vadamadurai, Dindigul, Kodaikkanal Road, Madurai Junction, Tirupparankundram, Tirumangalam and Kalligudi. However, it would have additional stoppages at Pudukkottai, Karaikkudi, Devakottai Road, Sivaganga, Manamadurai and Aruppukottai in the diverted route, the statement added. Train No.1688 Shri Mata Vishano Devi Katra - Tirunelveli Navayug Express scheduled to leave Shri Mata Vishano Devi Katra on July 31, August 7 and 14 will be diverted via Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Karaikkudi, Manamadurai and Virudhunagar. The train service will skip its stoppages at Dindigul, Kodaikkanal Road and Madurai Junction. However, it would have additional stoppages at Pudukkottai, Karaikkudi, Sivaganga, Manamadurai and Aruppukottai in the diverted route, the statement said.

In order to fulfil the travel requirements of the increasing number of passengers, three pairs of train services, serving Salem division of Southern Railway, will be permanently augmented with additional coaches. Train No. 16616 Coimbatore – Mannargudi - Coimbatore Chemmozhi Express, leaving Coimbatore Jn at 12.30 a.m., will be permanently augmented by one sleeper class coach with effect from August 1. Train No.16615 Mannargudi – Coimbatore Chemmozhi Express, leaving Mannargudi at 8.25 p.m., will be augmented by one sleeper class coach with effect from August 2. Train No.22616 Coimbatore – Tirupati Express, leaving Coimbatore Jn at 6.10 a.m., will be augmented by one AC chair car with effect from August 1. Train No.22615 Tirupati – Coimbatore Express, leaving Tirupati at 2.55 p,m,, will be augmented by one AC chair car with effect from August 2. Train No.22668 Coimbatore – Nagercoil Express, leaving Coimbatore Jn at 7.30 p.m., will be augmented by one sleeper class coach with effect from August 2. The Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express and the Villupuram-Tiruchi Junction Passenger train were delayed for some time on the Villupuram-Tiruchi chord line section on Thursday following a mudslide at a site where construction of a limited use subway beneath the railway track between Ottakoil and Sendurai in Ariyalur district was under way. The chord line section falls under the limits of the Tiruchi Railway Division. Railway sources said the mudslide was noticed around 7.10 a.m. An alert was immediately sounded and the Villupuram-Tiruchi Junction passenger train was stopped between Sendurai and Ottakovil. The Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express was stopped between Sendurai and Ottakovil. Senior railway officials from Tiruchi Division rushed to the spot to attend to the problem. The trains were subsequently operated with 10 kmph caution after a delay of over 30 minutes, railway sources said.
