What Is Shri Krishna Janambhoomi Case?
The ongoing legal controversy is related to Mathura's Shahi Idgah mosque, reportedly built during the era of Aurangzeb. The Hindu side has alleged that the structure was established after demolishing a temple at the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
The petitioner also claimed in court that the mosque bears symbols of Hindu deities on its walls.
The petitioner has also argued that the Muslim side has not provided any documentary evidence to prove it to be a mosque. Furthermore, as per IANS, he stated that the structure is not listed in the official land records (Khasra-Khatauni), has no municipal records, and no taxes have been paid for it -- therefore, it should not be recognised as a mosque.
Muslim Side's Argument
The Muslim side presented its argument in the HC, strongly opposed the petition, and asserted that the Shahi Idgah has existed at the site for over 400 years. Additionally, they argued that the demand to declare the structure disputed is 'baseless' and must be dismissed.
HC On Shri Krishna Janambhoomi Case
The Allahabad HC agreed with the Muslim side's argument and rejected the petition, declining to classify the Mathura's Shahi Idgah as a disputed property.
This was one of the 18 petitions filed by the Hindu side with regard to the claims on the land around Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi.

'Slap, but don't make video': Raj Thackeray's blunt advice to MNS workers after Marathi 'slapgate' case
Uddhav Thackeray patched up with cousin Raj Thackeray nearly two decades after breakup over Shiv Sena succession. The previously estranged Thackeray brothers appeared emphatic while addressing the audience during the rally in Mumbai on Saturday. Speaking in Marathi, Raj Thackeray said: 'Be it a Gujarati or anyone else here, must know Marathi, but there is no need to beat people for that if they don't speak Marathi. Yet, if someone does some drama, you must hit them below their eardrums.' 'If you beat someone, don't make a video of the incident. Let the person beaten up tell that he has been beaten up; you don't need to tell everyone," Raj added. Mumbai, Jul 05 (ANI): Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray along with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray during a joint rally after the Maharashtra government scrapped two GRs to introduce Hindi as the third language, at Worli Dome in Mumbai on Saturday. NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule also present. (Shiv Sena-UBT/ANI Video Grab) The MNS Chief was apparently addressing criticism about the Thackerays' men slapping and intimidating people, including street vendors, over their not speaking in Marathi. The much discussed Thackeray reunion unfolded against the backdrop of 'Marathi pride' sparked by the BJP-led Maharashtra government's move to introduce Hindi as a third language in schools – a decision that was later rolled back following intense backlash. Initially announced as a protest against the original move, Raj and Uddhav Thackeray's rally in Mumbai was converted to a celebration of the rollback. Raj Thackeray's assertion of 'Marathi pride' was followed by Uddhav Thackeray's speech, echoing the same sentiments. The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief also spoke in Marathi, stating: 'Yes, we are goons; if we have to be goons to get justice, we will do goondagiri.' At the much-hyped Mumbai rally, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray delivered a sharp, ironic jab — praising Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. Raj claimed Fadnavis managed to do what even Shiv Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray could not. "Uddhav and I are coming together after 20 years… What Balasaheb Thackeray could not do that Devendra Fadnavis managed to do," Raj Thackeray claimed at the massive event in Worli. Uddhav Thackeray's split with Raj Thackeray happened when Bal Thackeray was alive, as he preferred son Uddhav over nephew Raj to hand over the Shiv Sena reins. Uddhav also criticised the BJP - in power in Maharashtra and the Centre - for allegedly imposing the agenda of 'Hindi, Hindu, Hindustan' on India. 'We will protect the ideology of Hindutva, in Marathi language,' he further said. Following the Thackeray brothers' cousins at the reunion rally, senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan stated that the introduction of Hindi as a third language from class 1 evoked statewide opposition. "It's fine if Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray claim credit for the withdrawal of the GRs. If they come together politically, our best wishes," Chavan told PTI. The Congress leader asserted that celebrating the withdrawal of Hindi language GRs and a potential political alliance between the two cousins are two separate issues.

Bathroom to courtroom: Man attends virtual hearing from toilet, Gujarat HC orders contempt proceedings
The Gujarat High Court has initiated suo motu contempt proceedings against a man for attending a virtual hearing while sitting on a toilet seat. The incident occurred on June 20 when Justice Nirzar S. Desai was hearing a case. A video of it soon went viral on social media platforms. A division bench of Justices A.S. Supehia and R.T. Vachhani passed an order on June 30 directing the HC registry to "register a suo motu contempt proceedings against the person who is seen in the video". In its 'oral order' which was uploaded on July 3, the HC bench directed the Registrar of Information and Technology to inform the Court "about the mechanism to stop contumacious litigants in participating in the live streaming proceedings, since it is also noticed by us that such disorderly and uncontrolled behaviour has become frequent". "Registry shall issue the notice to the contemnor as to why he should not be prosecuted and punished for committing Contempt of Court as defined under Section 2(c) of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971. A suo motu proceeding shall be listed after a period of two weeks," the bench said in the order. "The infamous video tarnishing the image of this court is widely circulated in social media and it requires to be immediately banned and deleted," the bench further said. Answering nature's call during proceedings In the video, a man wearing a yellow t-shirt can be seen logging in using a mobile phone, with the name on the screen identifying him as 'Samad Battery'. Shockingly, the video shows he had been sitting on a toilet seat and answering nature's call while he attended the proceedings through video link. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Gujarat High Court has allowed both lawyers and litigants to join through the virtual mode, and the proceedings of each hearing are broadcast live via the court's YouTube channel. The one minute-long video showed that the man, later identified as Abdul Samad, had kept the mobile phone on the floor of the toilet with the camera facing him. After finishing his business in the toilet, he picked up the phone and left. Justice Desai apparently did not notice his actions or the surroundings. The same person, wearing wireless earphones, can be seen logging in again later in the livestream, sitting in a room and waiting for his turn. After nearly 10 minutes, Justice Desai asked his name and he identified himself as Abdul Samad, a resident of Kim village of Surat and the complainant in a case of assault. His lawyers informed the court that Mr. Samad had recently lodged a complaint of assault against two persons in Kim, but both the parties have arrived at a compromise. Hearing the petition filed by the two accused seeking to quash the First Information Report, Justice Desai asked Samad if he consented to it. He told the court he had no objection, following which Justice Desai granted the accused's plea.

Tension erupts as Muharram rally passes through Prayagraj's Sirsa market, 22 held
The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested 22 people who were part of a Muharram procession on charges of breach of peace after tension erupted on Thursday night between two groups for taking out the rally through Sirsa market. Local residents in Prayagraj district alleged that members of the procession were setting a new trend by taking the procession through Sirsa market, a Hindu dominated area, deviating from the traditional route. According to the police, tension erupted in Sirsa market when local residents and shopkeepers objected to the Muharram procession passing through the market and they gathered at Sirsa. The residents raised objections and questioned why the traditional route was not followed. They alleged that taking the procession through Sirsa market was a departure from the traditional route and part of an attempt to set a new trend. The situation escalated when both groups got into a heated argument. It was brought under control after a police team from Meja police station arrived and pacified both sides. The Meja police registered a case against five named individuals and 50 unidentified people. 'Prior permission is required to take a procession along a new route. In this case, no such permission was obtained from the district administration before the procession passed through the new route, said S P Upadhyay, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Prayagraj. He added that the police would investigate who was behind the incident and why the procession was taken along the new route.
