Roman Kemp savagely brands Simon Rimmer's Sunday Brunch fish pie 'the worst'

Daily Mirror5 hours ago

Roman Kemp has claimed that the worst pie he's ever eaten was made by Sunday Brunch presenter and chef Simon Rimmer, but it wasn't actually the star's cooking that was the issue
TV host Roman Kemp has opened up about his less-than-pleasant culinary experience on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch, where he was served a fish pie by chef Simon Rimmer.
While chewing the fat with singer Tom Grennan, 30, on their podcast Introducing About...You!, the comfort food chat led Roman, 32, to confess that the most disappointing pie he's ever tasted was one dished out by Simon during the programme – describing it as the 'worst bit of fish pie' he had ever encountered.

He explained how despite his affection for both Simon and co-host Tim Lovejoy, eating fish pie at the crack of dawn had put him off, saying: "The only reason why is that, Sunday Brunch, you're there for hours, so long. You're there for long. Love Tim, love Simon, but it's a long show and it's early."

Kemp revealed that when pressed for his thoughts on the dish while still reeling from the early hour, he candidly remarked, "It was 8am and I'm trying to stomach this fish pie and they came over and they said 'What do you think?' I hate this, I said, 'I didn't like it'."
Roman's startling admission comes after viewers heaped praise on a new change in Sunday Brunch's presenting team.
While usually the dynamic duo of Simon and Tim Lovejoy steer the ship, the latter has recently taken a brief hiatus, ushering in TV favourite Vicky Pattison to fill his shoes.
Announcing her stint on the show, an excited Vicky shared on Instagram: "I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS! ! ! !".

The much-loved presenter shared: "As a long time friend of @sundaybrunchc4 it is an absolute HONOUR to be wearing a slightly different hat this week! I will be joining my good pal @rimmersimon as his co-host while the lovely @timlovejoy_official has a very well deserved break! ! !".
She couldn't hide her enthusiasm, as she continued: "I am buzzing like an old fridge to chat to all of our gorgeous guests, eat some delicious food and hopefully give anyone watching and nursing a hangover a bit of light comedy reprieve."
Viewers were overjoyed by the news of Vicky stepping in on Sunday Brunch. One fan expressed: "Joke about Vicki all you want, but its good to have some feminine energy co-presenting and female POV on the sofa while chatting with the guests."
Another viewer was quick to add: "What a breath of fresh air @VickyPattison is #SundayBrunch," and another praised the change, commenting: "I honestly don't think Tim should go, but having Vicki is a nice change from two bald blokes being blokey and exciting only really by any footie talk #sundaybrunch."
Fans can catch the new dynamic duo when Sunday Brunch hits the screens again today (Sunday, June 29) at 10am on Channel 4.

Beloved singer, 83, cancels concerts after suffering 'chronic and intense pain'

A beloved singer has been forced to cancel shows after facing 'unimaginable' pain that 'demanded immediate attention'. Paul Simon rose to fame in the 1960s as part of the duo Simon & Garfunkel alongside school friend Art Garkfunkel. After gaining a legion of fans releasing songs like The Sound of Silence and Bridge over Troubled Water, the American singer- songwriter went on to pursue a career as a solo artist in the 1970s. Throughout his career, Paul has won 16 Grammy Awards and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, realising his most recent album Seven Psalms in 2023. In April he kicked off his A Quiet Celebration Tour, which began in New Orleans and will travel throughout North America and Canada before ending in Seattle in August. However, this weekend he had to pull the plug on two performances just a few hours in advance due to ongoing health issues. Posting a statement online, his team explained that the 83-year-old could no longer play his scheduled shows at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. 'Paul has been struggling with chronic and intense back pain,' it began. 'Today it became unmanageable and demands immediate attention. Unfortunately, we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don't have the ability to reschedule them.' 'However, we are hopeful after this minor surgical procedure which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates. 'In the meantime, please go to your point of purchase or local ticket provider for a full refund.' Paul is next set to play at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center's Terrace Theater in Long Beach, California on July 7. His tour features the live debut of his Grammy-nominated album, Seven Psalms, along with a 'celebration of his timeless classics'. However when it was announced earlier this year, it was explained that he'd chosen 'intimate venues with optimal acoustics for this tour' as he had been dealing with 'severe hearing loss'. The musician had previously announced his retirement from touring in 2018 due to hearing loss. At the time he explained: 'I've often wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I'd consider bringing my performing career to a natural end. Now I know it feels a little unsettling, a touch exhilarating and something of a relief. 'I love making music, my voice is still strong, and my band is a tight, extraordinary group of gifted musicians. I think about music constantly.' More Trending Last year he explained he's now lost 94% of hearing in his left ear and has been told by doctors that there is no cure, which has also left him unable to play certain songs from his catalogue, including his 1986 hit You Can Call Me Al. 'I'm going through my repertoire and reducing a lot of the choices that I make to acoustic versions,' he said on CBS Mornings. 'It's all much quieter. It's not You Can Call Me Al, that's gone. I can't do that one.' 'I guess what I'm most apprehensive about would be if I can't hear well enough to really enjoy the act of making music.' Got a story? Zara McDermott poses with Louis Tomlinson's sister at Glastonbury Festival

Zara McDermott is at her first Glastonbury Festival - but some fans think she's giving off the 'wrong vibe' as one said 'this ain't Coachella' Zara McDermott certainly looks like she's enjoying her first ever Glastonbury. The 28-year-old is at the festival with new boyfriend Louis Tomlinson. The Love Island and Made In Chelsea star turned BBC documentary maker posed for a series of snaps showing her and One Direction's Louis, 33, were there with Louis' influencer sister Lottie, 26, and her fiance Lewis Burton. ‌ But snaps posted to her own Instagram account got a bit of backlash from fans who said they were 'the opposite of what Glastonbury is about'. ‌ Posing in an Adidas tracksuit and matching trainers, Zara sat on the floor in the snaps that looked more like a sports ad than a candid festival photo. She captioned the post: 'First Glasto.' It led one follower to ask: "Are you sitting in a foot path?" Another wrote: "This is the opposite of what Glastonbury is about. Sorry Zara wrong vibe." Agreeing, a third said: "I came to say the same, she has absolutely no idea, I have actual 2nd hand embarrassment!" as a fourth commented: "This ain't Coachella." In other snaps, it looked like Zara's relationship with Louis - who she started dating earlier this year just weeks after her split from boyfriend of five years Sam Thompson - is definitely hotting up. She's now met his family and posed for pics with his little sister Lottie, suggesting she's already got her seal of approval. But Zara and Louis were careful not to pose for any photos together and the new couple are yet to make their relationship Instagram official. ‌ And it's emerged the pair aren't even camping together at Glasto - with glam Zara preferring to stay off site instead while Louis parties with his mates. He's reportedly even put up a tent that's just for booze. A source told the Mirror: "Louis is determined to make it a weekend to remember and has planned everything with military like precision - including making sure enough booze is available. He has his own tent - and one just for the drinks." "Everyone is saying it's a nice break for him and Zara, but it's a great way also for Zara to meet his mates. It will definitely be a boozy one and not a particularly romantic one," the source added. Zara and Louis were first linked in March this year when they were pictured on a date in Suffolk. Since then, they've been seen in Los Angeles together and Zara was recently seen supporting Louis in Costa Rica. But they have gone as far as to slightly appear in each other's social media photos as they shared matching photos from a Stereophonics concert on their Instagram stories. Zara then appeared to 'soft launch' their romance on Instagram when she posted a photo of her breakfast, featuring a view of Louis' tattooed arm in the background of the photo.

Married At First Sight star rushes son to hospital after nasty accident

A Married At First Sight groom has revealed his son has been rushed to hospital after a scary accident, just months after a previous hospital dash Married At First Sight star Ryan Livesey has revealed he had to rush his son Leo to hospital after a nasty accident. The dad-of-one took to Instagram to share a picture of his seven-year-old boy with a bandage on the back of his head, with blood visible underneath the white plaster. Revealing how the incident occurred, he told his fans: 'A&E on a Friday night… Leo's split his head open playing football.' In the next story, Ryan showed his fans the graphic extent of the injury. ‌ The E4 star didn't share any other updates beyond this, suggesting Leo was back home and well. The proud dad regularly shares photos and videos of his boy on his Instagram for his 97.1 thousand followers to see. ‌ On Saturday, alongside a picture of the cheeky father and son duo, he gushed: 'He may outgrow my lap, but never my heart. Watching him grow is my life's greatest joy.' In November last year, Ryan shared a heartwarming video of moments he's shared with Leo to commemorate his seventh birthday. He penned: 'Happy 7 th Birthday, Leo Livesey! From the moment you arrived on 11-11-2017, weighing 6.6 pounds, you've been the greatest gift life could offer. 'You fill every day with love, joy and pride, and Dad loves you more than you'll ever know. Wishing you a day filled with laughter, adventure and all the happiness in the world. Happy Birthday Son!' This isn't the first time that Leo has been rushed to hospital after Ryan had to take him back in December. He shared a snap of his little man sitting on a hospital bed in a blue dressing gown and wrote: 'I love you,' but didn't share any other information on his condition. ‌ Ryan shot to fame on Married At First Sight last year and married bride Sionainn. However, things didn't work out between the pair, with Sionainn quitting the experiment early, leaving Ryan in the lurch. As the pair reunited to explain what happened behind the scenes, she told the experts: 'It got to the point, it was the most ridiculous argument, we started arguing over shoelaces. Then he told me all his feelings were fake, he never meant any of it and I thought I've done it too many times and I am not doing it again. Ryan shot back: 'A pathetic argument over a pair of shoes, made you leave to the experiment,' as she expressed: 'But it was a multitude of things that added up.' ‌ Explaining his side in more detail, Ryan wrote on social media: 'Writing this is difficult, and to be honest, I'm not sure where to begin. "I was starting to develop real feelings and it meant a lot to hear Sionainn say she felt 'safe and comfortable' around me. This is something I truly pride myself on. 'I wish things would have turned out differently but now feels like the right time for myself and Sionainn to leave the experiment and I wish her all the best for the future."
