KUALA LUMPUR (June 26): Unique Fire Holdings Berhad has made its debut on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad, just three years after being listed on the ACE Market.
The company, a leading provider of fire protection systems and safety equipment, was first listed on the ACE Market in August 2022.
Since then, it has recorded significant growth in both operations and financial performance, according to the company in a statement yesterday.
Executive director Datuk Marcus Liew noted that the company's revenue rose from RM75.74 million in the financial year ended 2022 to RM104.68 million in 2024. Profit after tax also increased from RM5.64 million to RM8.13 million over the same period.
'We've expanded our production capacity by more than 200 per cent, increased storage space by nearly 68 per cent, and integrated a Warehouse Management System.
'Geographically, we've opened two new offices in Johor Bahru and Penang to enhance the Company's market presence in both the northern and southern region.
'Sustainability remains key, with rooftop solar PV reducing utility costs, while our workforce and product range continue to grow. These milestones reflect our readiness for the Main Market,' he said.
Liew described the transfer as a new chapter for the company and that the company will continue expanding its product range to meet evolving market needs.
'We are excited for what lies ahead. With years of experience in the industry, we are confident in our ability to build a solid foundation that supports continued growth,' he added.
Unique Fire began as a distributor of fire protection systems and accessories, and has since expanded into the assembly, manufacture and distribution of active fire protection systems.

Govt working with Thai counterparts to facilitate goods movement

KUALA LUMPUR: The government remains committed to strengthening strategic cooperation with the Thai Government to facilitate the movement of goods across border checkpoints, including through the Durian Burung entry point in Kedah. Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Minister Liew Chin Tong told the Dewan Rakyat that the government was working closely with Thai counterparts to ease goods movement across the northern border and to support export needs for industries such as Kedah Rubber City. "Miti remains committed to strengthening strategic cooperation with the Thai government to facilitate the movement of goods across border checkpoints, including through the Durian Burung entry point. "This effort requires close collaboration with relevant ministries and agencies, such as the Finance Ministry, Home Ministry, the Immigration Department, the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), and the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA)," he said in response to a question from Nurul Amin Hamid (PN-Padang Terap). Liew, however, acknowledged that the infrastructure at the ICQS Durian Burung Complex was still inadequate to support large-scale trade operations, especially those involving the use of containers. He said the government, through NCIA, was implementing several strategic initiatives, including conducting a feasibility study for a Border Economic Zone to identify potential economic opportunities that could be developed in the border area, including the KRC and surrounding regions near Durian Burung. Other initiatives include regional cooperation under the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) and the Joint Development Strategy (JDS). "These collaborations focus on development in industries such as halal, logistics, rubber, and tourism. The JDS specifically aims to enhance connectivity and international trade policies, strengthening synergy between both countries. "In addition, the Malaysian government remains committed to enhancing strategic cooperation with Thailand through existing platforms such as the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Trade Committee," he said. He added that both parties had agreed to improve trade facilitation, including upgrading infrastructure, logistics systems, and procedures at border checkpoints. These steps, he said, were expected to accelerate Customs clearance processes while reducing time and costs for cross-border goods movement. "Although there have been suggestions to use Songkhla Port in Thailand as an alternative export route, the government is currently focused on maximising the use of domestic ports, especially in Penang and Kuala Perlis. "This initiative aligns with the government's broader strategy to enhance the competitiveness of local ports, while ensuring the economic benefits are fully realised by industry players and local communities," he said. Liew added that the ministry was also open to studying and proposing recommendations to the Finance Ministry to provide various incentives aimed at increasing the usage of local ports when asked on the ministry's short-term plans to encourage investors to use domestic ports for setting up factories or exporting products abroad.

MITI Mulls Incentives For KRC Investors Using Local Ports

BUSINESS KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) is considering incentives for investors that maximise the use of local ports, particularly in Penang and Kuala Perlis. Deputy Minister Liew Chin Tong said the initiative aims to encourage greater use of domestic ports, especially among investors operating around Kedah Rubber City (KRC). 'MITI is prepared to evaluate and propose to the Ministry of Finance the introduction of incentives or other measures to enhance the utilisation of local ports,' he told the Dewan Rakyat today. He was responding to a supplementary question from Nurul Amin Hamid (PN-Padang Terap), who asked what steps the ministry was taking to promote the use of domestic ports, either for the import of machinery and construction materials during factory development, or for the export of goods once operations commence. KRC, located in Kuala Nerang, Kedah, is one of the flagship projects under the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER). It focuses on the rubber-based industry and is expected to drive economic growth in the northern region. In reply to the original question on potential cooperation with Thailand to facilitate investor access to Songkhla Port via the Durian Burung checkpoint, Liew said the government's current priority is to optimise the use of domestic ports, particularly those in Penang and Kuala Perlis. 'This is in line with the government's strategy to strengthen the competitiveness of local ports, while ensuring that the economic benefits are fully enjoyed by industry players and local communities,' he said. Liew added that Malaysia remains committed to strengthening strategic cooperation with Thailand through existing platforms such as the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Trade Committee (JTC). 'Both sides have agreed to enhance trade facilitation, including improvements to infrastructure, logistics systems, and procedures at border checkpoints.

No prospecting licence issued to Farhash-linked firm, says Sabah land dept

Sabah lands and surveys department director Bernard Liew said allegations claiming that Bumi Suria Sdn Bhd had been awarded a mineral prospecting licence in Sabah are baseless. PETALING JAYA : The Sabah lands and surveys department maintains that no mineral prospecting licence had been issued to Bumi Suria Sdn Bhd, the company linked to businessman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak. The department's director, Bernard Liew, said no prospecting licence was awarded to the company under the Sabah Mining Ordinance 1960 and that allegations claiming otherwise were baseless. He added that the department was the authoritative body governing mining in the Bornean state. 'Any mineral exploration activity in Sabah can only be conducted after obtaining a legitimate licence issued under Sections 6 and 8 of the Sabah Mining Ordinance. 'And this is subject to technical conditions and other relevant laws that are already in place. The department views seriously any statement made via the media that can mislead the public,' he said in a statement. MalaysiaNow previously reported that Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd (SMM) had awarded Bumi Suria an exploration licence for coal mining. The report said it had been granted exclusive rights to explore and search for minerals on 70,000ha of forest reserve in Kalabakan and Gunung Rara near the Kalimantan border. In a statement to FMT, SMM CEO Natasha Sim said the state government agency was not a licence-awarding body, nor did it have jurisdiction to award or issue licences. On Monday, Farhash said his lawyers had served MalaysiaNow with a cease and desist letter, saying allegations that he owned Bumi Suria and that the company had been awarded a mineral prospecting or exploration licence in Sabah were false and defamatory. The lawyers said Farhash was merely a director and shareholder of Bumi Suria, and demanded that the article be removed from the website and all social media channels.
