Ski jumping-Prevc breaks men's world record with 254.5-metre jump
Prevc, who won the men's large hill event at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim earlier this month, beat Austrian Stefan Kraft's previous mark of 253.5m from March 2017.
"I'm still shaking right now, really amazing," Prevc said after the jump in front of home fans in the Alpine valley in northwest Slovenia.
"I feel like I'm reading a book, or watching a movie and seeing this character do it, so I can't quite believe it, but I felt I could do anything after the take off and it was just perfect."
Despite Prevc's record-breaking jump, it was Slovenian compatriot Anze Lanisek who secured victory in Planica, marking his first Ski Flying World Cup win with a combined score of 482.1 points.
Prevc came second with 475.00 and Germany's Andreas Wellinger (GER) third with 455.8.

Manchester United are yet to make an official bid for the in-demand forward, and it seems that Sesko must make a decision on which Premier League club he wants to join and then a deal will be struck. If the 41-cap Slovenia international does fancy Old Trafford over St James' Park then the Magpies are considering other options and are eyeing up the Parc des Princes. The Daily Mail report that PSG striker Goncalo Ramos is on Newcastle's list of targets, should they fail in their attempts to sign Sesko. Still just 24 years old, the Portuguese forward joined PSG from Benfica in the summer of 2023 and has since scored 33 goals in 86 appearances across all competitions. The 16-cap Portugal international scored 19 goals in all competitions last season as PSG enjoyed a stunning treble-winning campaign. He featured regularly, but often as a substitute, starting just 12 Ligue 1 games last season and only one in the Champions League. The Mail's report states that PSG are open to letting Ramos leave this summer. An asking price has not been suggested, but it is very likely to be less than Leipzig's for Sesko. Aston Villa and England striker Ollie Watkins is also believed to be on Newcastle's radar as they look to improve on a frustrating summer so far in the transfer market. This all comes as the future of Alexander Isak remains in the balance, with Liverpool still interested in a big-money move for the Magpies superstar. The 25-year-old Swede has had his head turned by the Premier League champions' interest this summer. Isak did not travel to Asia for Newcastle's pre-season tour due to what the club called a 'minor thigh injury', only for his interest in a move to emerge along with the fact he has been training at former club Real Sociedad. The Reds have seen a bid of £110m turned down by Newcastle, but may return with an improved offer. The Magpies reportedly want £150m for their star striker and Liverpool are unlikely to meet that demand, but they will hope to convince Newcastle to do business with Isak wanting to leave. Eddie Howe's team drew with Tottenham in a friendly on Sunday and the manager was asked whether Isak will return to training in the coming week. Newcastle and Manchester United are both keen on landing RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko but the Magpies have now eyed up PSG's Goncalo Ramos as a possible forward target Newcastle are keeping tabs on PSG's Goncalo Ramos as they weigh up potential striker options which also involve Manchester United target Benjamin Sesko. The RB Leipzig frontman has emerged as a player who is wanted by Newcastle and the Red Devils this week, with the former seeing the Slovenian as a possible replacement for Alexander Isak, who is now on Liverpool's radar as he considers his options. Newcastle have seen an opening offer for Sesko rejected and are discussing the possibility of pursuing Ramos at PSG, with the French side open to his exit. The Magpies considered the Portuguese forward as an option three years ago before they signed Isak. Ramos was then at Benfica, but later joined the French champions. He is by no means a regular starter in Paris though and the striker, still only 24, is being considered as a target at St James' Park after scoring 33 goals from 86 matches at the Parc des Princes. Newcastle's priority target is Sesko, but they will look elsewhere if negotiations head south, reports the Daily Mail. Eddie Howe's side saw a bid of £69.8m including add-ons turned down. Discussions continue over the structure of that deal whilst those in Manchester have not made an offer. Sesko is open to both projects at the respective Premier League clubs, although it is Newcastle who can offer him Champions League football for the upcoming season. The Slovenian was absent from Leipzig's pre-season friendly loss to Atalanta on Saturday due to his expected departure. He has reportedly told his team-mates that he will be leaving, as per Sky in Germany. Marcel Schafer, RB Leipzig's managing director for sport, has confirmed that interested parties have expressed their desire to take the player. He said: "We won't go into detail on that but when I say that several clubs have shown strong interest and have made approaches, it's obvious what has happened." United have already added Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha this summer but want a No 9. It is understood that Leipzig are interested in United's Rasmus Hojlund and have considered a possible loan. The German club had proposed taking Hojlund on loan as part of any any deal that takes Sesko to Manchester. Newcastle are also interested in Brentford's Yoane Wissa, who was not part of Brentford's squad for their friendly against QPR on Saturday, as he looks to move away from the west London outfit.
