Shoppers are praising a recycling system that can earn you cash

That's exactly what Boots is offering with their Recycle at Boots scheme - a simple and rewarding way to handle those tricky beauty and healthcare empties that can't go in your regular recycling bin.
While some bathroom items, like aerosols, glass jars, and full-sized shampoo bottles, can often be recycled at home, many products made from mixed or non-recyclable materials end up in landfill.
That's where Boots comes in, giving shoppers an easy solution to recycle items that kerbside collections can't manage.
Customers just need to download the Recycle at Boots app, scan their empties, and within 24 hours, the app will confirm whether the items are eligible for recycling or rewards.
From toothpaste tubes to lotion pumps and travel-sized cosmetics, Boots makes dealing with hard-to-recycle bits effortless - and shoppers can earn rewards while they're at it.
Shoppers are loving the initiative and taking advantage of the rewards.
One TikTok user, who goes by the name 'Hyperfocus_rewards', shared her experience in a video captioned: 'It's basically 50% back on your £10 spend.'
She revealed that she had 27 items approved for the recycling scheme, meaning she could exchange them for points.
The scheme works by giving customers £5 worth of points on their Advantage card when they recycle five qualifying items and spend £10 in store.
The TikToker explained that her basket full of recycling goods will earn her £25 worth of points - making it not just eco-friendly but wallet-friendly too.
First look inside revamped Scots Boots store with Fenty and Kylie Cosmetics stands - hundreds of customers can get freebies
The Recycle at Boots scheme accepts products such as toothpaste tubes, lotion pumps, and small cosmetics like mascaras or travel minis.
This programme is making recycling effortless while rewarding shoppers for their eco-friendly efforts.

Tesco is selling a £6.99 buy that'll get rid of pesky flies in seconds, and it's completely chemical-free too

Plus, why do flies come out in summer? BUZZ OFF Tesco is selling a £6.99 buy that'll get rid of pesky flies in seconds, and it's completely chemical-free too WHEN you spend long summer days in the garden, keeping pesky flies and mosquitos at bay is a top priority. Fortunately, there are many great repellent options available if you're tired of the constant buzzing by your ears. 3 Closeup of a housefly with its reflection in a glass window Credit: Getty 3 One woman documented how the plant instantly trapped a fly Credit: tiktok/@hannahtuite2 3 Fellow shoppers can snap up this plant for as little as £6.99 from Tesco Credit: tiktok/@hannahtuite2 However, for pest control that also makes your outdoor space look better, it's worth considering adding a special plant that will kill the unwelcome visitors. Most of us have heard that adding basil or rosemary to the greenery works wonders. But turns out, there's another plant worth snapping up from your local Tesco - the Venus Fly Trap. The ultimate natural pest control is this carnivorous plant that captures pesky insects and spiders in its claw-like, clamshell-shaped leaves. Once the pest has been trapped, the plant snaps them shut, and then "eats" its unsuspecting prey by releasing digestive enzymes. While these plants are certainly fascinating and entertaining to watch, the Venus Fly Trap requires rather specific conditions. For best results, you should plant it outside for full sun - however, if that's not an option, you can keep it on a sunny windowsill with an additional artificial light nearby. The fly-munching trap also likes wet soil, meaning if in a pot, its roots must always be sitting in water. As the plant can't handle hard water that comes from most taps in the UK, it's strongly advised to keep it hydrated with distilled or clean rainwater. If the trap is unable to catch food on its own, green-fingered Brits should keep it fed with insects, blood worms, or fish food. The 2C method which stops flies plaguing your home and ruining your BBQ Keen to see whether this chemical-free solution works? Shoppers can snap up Venus Fly Trap in a Tin from Tesco for just £6.99, order it from Amazon for £13.99 or buy it from their local B&Q on sale for £16.35. One person who was recently amazed by how well the plant worked was Irish lass and TikToker Hannah Tuite - her plant caught a fly just an hour after purchasing it. ''Wasn't expecting this to work, let alone so quick,'' she told fellow social media users in the now-viral video. Why do flies come out in summer? Flies are present all year round, but all of a sudden when summer comes, they are just EVERYWHERE! The main contributing factors are the breeding cycle of flies and the soaring temperatures. Insects are cold blooded and in summer, when their body temperature rises from the external heat, they become more active. The hotter weather also let's them seek out cool moist spots, like inside your home, to escape from the sweltering heat and to lay their eggs. House Fly eggs take around 20 hours to hatch, but when the temperature rises above 37 degrees, can hatch within 8 hours! In extreme hot weather the eggs can mature from larvae to adult fly in as little as four days. The average lifespan of a housefly is 21 days, so each female can lay up to 900 eggs during the summer months! However, if you're on the lookout for a less barbaric option, the stunning lavender works a treat too - and it will leave your garden smelling amazing. Although lavender is one of the most beloved scents for humans, flies can't stand the scent of it. Therefore, if you plant the fragrant flower near the entrance to your home or on the windowsill, it will act as a barrier against flies. Plus, lavender also attracts bees, which will give your garden a wildlife boost. Anyone wanting to try out this simple hack won't have to fork out much, as Aldi is launching a lavender plant for just £3.79. The bargain bloom will be available at stores across the UK from June 12, so flower fans had better set their alarms to be in with the chance of snagging the product.

I put three lip glaze that promise shine to the test - one will become your go-to

Read on to also find out about a fun skincare collab GLIDE ON I put three lip glaze that promise shine and hydration to the test – one will become your go-to LIP glaze is your latest handbag must-have, replacing balms, glosses and oils, promising shine, hydration and pigment with no sticky residue. This week I put three of them to the test. 4 Lip glaze are replacing balms, glosses and oils Budget Maybelline New York Lifter Glaze Lip Oil Balm, £7.99 for 19g, Boots 4 The Maybelline New York Lifter Glaze Lip Oil Balm feels hydrating and smells great Credit: supplied I was surprised by how pigmented this was. With just one swipe I got a far deeper colour than I expected, which is great for a product at such an affordable price. It has a nice, sweet smell and feels hydrating on the lips. My only gripe is that the stick is quite hard but I found it went on more easily if I swiped it on the back of my hand first to warm it up. Then I applied it to my lips for a more sheer finish that gave a gloss-like shine, but it works great as a tinted lip balm straight from the bullet. Mid-range Glossier Lip Glaze Hydrating Sheer Lip Oil, £22, 8ml, 4 This Glossier Lip Glaze Hydrating Sheer Lip Oil is sheer but has a soft and creamy formula Credit: supplied Glossier makes some of my favourite lip products, so I had high expectations for this. The formula feels soft and creamy, giving the slip of a gloss but with a buttery softness you might get from a balm – yet it's thinner than most oils or glosses, so it doesn't feel heavy. I have chronically chapped lips and immediately felt the hydration from the apricot seed oil and shea butter. We tried six lipsticks we'd never normally go for - here's what worked & what didn't The pigment is extremely sheer, so it can pass as 'your lips, but better shades' and you won't need a mirror to reapply it. If you want more colour pay-off, you'll need to layer it over a lip liner. Luxury Yves Saint Laurent LoveShine Candy Glaze, £38, 3g, 4 The Yves Saint Laurent LoveShine Candy Glaze doesn't go patchy and will quickly become your go-to Credit: supplied These promise the colour of a lipstick with the slick of an oil and, given that Maybelline and YSL are owned by L'Oreal, I thought the formulas would be pretty similar. In fact, this balm was far softer and easier to apply. It glides over lips like an oil but with a thicker, gel-cream consistency that stays put on lips longer, keeping them hydrated. The pigment is also closer to a tint than a lipstick, which I prefer for daily wear as it doesn't go patchy over time. This has quickly become my go-to.

While there are plenty of crease releasers on the high-street, turns out, you can easily make your very own for a fraction of the price. What's more, not only will it save you heaps of cash in the long run but the £1 concoction will also leave your laundry smelling fabulous. The cash-savvy solution was recently shared on TikTok by one money-smart cleaning fan only known as @dagger95. read more on cleaning WASH THIS Shoppers are saving after a laundry essential gets slashed from £4 to just 45p According to the thrifty TikToker, the answer to crease-free clothing is simple - and you can find it for just a quid. She told fellow social media users: ''I do this with just water or ever water and a little bit of fabric softener in a Febreze bottle or any bottle. ''You do not need a special solution. hope this helps all my broke besties, like me.'' If your favourite fabric softener is running low, you can find a mega 1l bottle for £1 at Savers - or £1.70 at Aldi, £2.50 at Sainsbury's and other supermarkets. Before using this spray, it's best to test it on a small, hidden part of your shirt or garment to make sure it won't cause any discolouration. To use this DIY wrinkle releaser, hang your garment on a clothes hanger or lay it out flat on your bed. Doctor shares why you must never wash clothes at 90 or 40 degrees & the right temperature for 'everything but gym gear' Pull the garment taught as you generously spray the DIY mix over it and run your hand over the wrinkles to help smooth them out. You want to make the fabric damp, but not soak it - as the more you spray, the longer your clothes will take to dry. If you choose to de-wrinkle your outfits before bed, you can be even more generous with the affordable spray. Laundry tips Catherine Green, sustainable cleaning expert at smol shared her laundry tips. How often should you be remaking your bed? When it comes to your bed, maintaining a hygienic sleep setup can actually improve your sleep quality, helping you start every day better. Most people shed 500 million skin cells per day and a lot of that ends up in bed for dust mites to feed on. And those with asthma or allergies might see symptoms worsen by sleeping on dirty sheets! You want to be washing your sheets once a week - or every 10 days if you don't suffer from allergies and wear nightclothes. Bedding builds up with sweat, skin cells and oils quickly, even if it doesn't look dirty. Using an effective detergent like smol's will still give you a great clean on a 20°C cycle - that's better for the planet and your energy bills! What temperature do smol recommend then? For your regular weekly washes I recommend washing most loads at 20°C for 30 minutes. It's gentler on fabrics, slashes energy use, and still delivers excellent stain removal with the right detergent. A colder wash can actually be more effective if you opt for a bio detergent as its enzymes need cooler water; too hot and they lose their ability to digest stains. A wash at 60°c (unless you have silk sheets) every now and again can help kill off dust mites and other nasties. What's the difference between bio and non-bio detergent? Bio detergents contain enzymes, which are especially good at breaking down tough stains like food, grass, or sweat. It's best used in mid to low temperature washes (ideally between 20-40°C) as anything hotter can cause them not to work effectively. Non-bio skips the enzymes, which in turn makes it more suitable for those with sensitive skin or allergies. Although non-bio doesn't contain enzymes, it's still great at removing stains and keeping your clothes clean, you just may need to use a slightly higher temperature setting to aid with the cleaning process. More de-creasing hacks If you don't own an iron or simply can't be bothered, digital department store Freemans has partnered with domestic cleaner Mariya Gurkova at home services business Fantastic Services to provide some top alternative hacks. Mariya revealed that a damp towel and tumble dryer are all you need to mimic an iron. She said: 'Put the wrinkled item in the dryer with a damp towel or a few ice cubes and run it on medium heat for about 15 minutes. "Steam will be generated inside the dryer by the moisture from the towel or ice cubes, which will help loosen the wrinkles and smooth out the fabric. When dried, fold immediately to avoid ironing." She added: 'You can also use a hair dryer to remove last-minute wrinkles. "Simply dampen the wrinkled area of the garment with water or a wrinkle-removing spray. Use the lowest setting and pull the fabric taut when drying. "Hair flat irons can help remove creases from small sections of clothing." Mariya also suggested that a hot cooking pot can be used to give your clothes a quick iron. All you need to do is fill the pan with boiling water, let it heat up the pot and then pour it out. You can then use the base of the pot to smooth out your garments.
