The New York Rangers' pipeline is teeming with upside at left wing, and it starts with high-end players in Gabe Perreault, Brennan Othmann, and Malcolm Spence.
The corps is spearheaded by the impressive Perreault, who just finished a dominating run in the NCAA at Boston College, scoring more than 100 points over two years. Having helped Team USA win two World Junior gold medals, he now looks to utilize his playmaking ability with New York's second six.
Othmann, who already had a short taste with the Rangers, is a gritty forward with scoring potential and might be ready for an everyday NHL job this year.

Right side depth remains New York Rangers' biggest prospect question mark
Although the left side is talented, the depth on the right wing is subpar. Other than Gabe Perreault, who will shuttle between the two wings according to line needs, there are few impactful pieces. Brendan Brisson, a former first-rounder acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights, has been incapable of making an NHL impact at age 23. His window is vanishing unless he finds a scoring reliability.
Prospects like Brody Lamb and Jaroslav Chmelar fill out the right wing depth chart, but neither has shown he will become a difference-maker.
The lack of high-ceiling talent could be an issue, particularly if Perreault is a full-time left-side player.
The center slot also doesn't have any prominent names, though there's prospect Carey Terrance. Picked up in the Chris Kreider trade, Terrance is speedy, physical, and possesses solid defensive instincts. He's likely headed to the AHL this season and may have a bottom-six role in the NHL in a year or two.
On the blue line, Scott Morrow leads the unit with some of the best puck-moving skills in the draft class, and EJ Emery, Sean Barnhill, and Drew Fortescue make up a solid but still-developing defensemen unit.
The Rangers' 2025 NHL Draft class, spearheaded by Spence and supported by players such as Artem Gonchar and Zeb Lindgren, contributes to that depth, though none of them are expected to play immediately.

The New York Rangers enter the 2025–26 season with one of the more intriguing—and imbalanced—groups of prospects in the NHL. While the left wing appears likely to be a long-term source of strength, thanks to Gabe Perreault, Brennan Othmann, and Malcolm Spence, the lack of depth on the right side and down the middle is a concern. If someone like Carey Terrance or Brisson can make a step forward, it could alleviate some of those worries.
But for now, the Rangers' future success hinges on how well they balance this positional disparity.
