Plaxico Burress's Super Bowl ring sells for $280,600
Heritage Auctions announced that the ring won by Burress went for that price in an auction this weekend.
Burress's ring has historical significance because he caught the game-winning touchdown pass in the Giants' win over the Patriots, which ended the Patriots' attempt at an undefeated season and the first 19-0 record in NFL history.
The $280,600 price tag is believed to be the second-most expensive Super Bowl ring ever sold. The Super Bowl V ring won by Baltimore Colts head coach Don McCafferty sold for $300,000 in 2022.
Burress made about $30 million during his NFL career but has a history of financial problems, civil lawsuits and findings that he failed to pay taxes.

Lions' starting DT Levi Onwuzurike will miss 2025 season with torn ACL
Last season, injuries derailed a season with Super Bowl expectations for the Detroit Lions. This season is already off to a troubling start for the Lions' defense. Defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike will miss the 2025-26 season with a torn ACL, head coach Dan Campbell announced on Sunday. It was a "significant" injury, in Campbell's words, and Onwuzurike has already undergone surgery to repair the tear. The Lions were already missing defensive tackle Alim McNeill, who tore his ACL in Week 15's loss to the Buffalo Bills last season. He'll begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list and could return toward the end of the year. Onwuzurike has struggled with injuries ever since Detroit made him their second-round draft pick in 2021 out of Washington. He missed the entire 2022 campaign with a back injury that required spinal fusion surgery. However, he finally broke through with a solid 2024-25 season, playing 16 games and starting 10. He notched 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 13 quarterback hits and a tackle for loss. Campbell says he's still confident in the Lions' depth on the defensive line. The team drafted Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams in the first round (No. 28 overall), who should start on the interior line alongside DJ Reader. Williams had 46 tackles and 2.5 sacks during his senior season with the Buckeyes. "You don't like to lose anybody," Campbell said, via the Detroit Free Press. "Certainly, losing Levi, that hurts, but it helps that we've got Tyleik, so we've got a little bit of balance here." "All in all, I think we're pretty good," he added. "I like what we got in that room and really there again, man, we got an opportunity for a lot of guys." Roy Lopez, Pat O'Connor and Chris Smith are expected to contribute at defensive tackle. Meanwhile, the Lions are expected to get Aidan Hutchinson back on the edge, coming back from a broken leg. He should start at defensive end along with Marcus Davenport. The team is also looking at bringing back Za'Darius Smith, whom Detroit traded for last season but eventually cut. Detroit has also been in discussions with veteran edge rusher Matthew Judon, according to the Detroit Free Press.

30 most important Bills players of 2025: No. 21 Cole Bishop
As the Buffalo Bills prepare for the 2025 NFL season, we'll take a look at the most important contributors on their roster. They have a ton of cornerstone players who will be returning for another shot at bringing a Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo, and they'll have help from some new additions as well. Leading up to the season, we will be counting down the top 30 most important players on the roster. We'll recap their 2024 season, look ahead to what they'll offer in 2025, and tackle the most pressing questions surrounding them this coming year. Next up on the countdown is Cole Bishop. Background Position: Safety Age at start of season: 22 Experience: Second year 2025 cap hit: $1,488,181 2024 recap Cole Bishop didn't have the start to his NFL career that he anticipated after being a second-round pick in 2024. He injured his shoulder early in last year's training camp and fell behind in terms of preparing for the season. Due to the setback, Damar Hamlin ran away with the starting safety spot alongside Taylor Rapp. Bishop ended up starting five games throughout the course of the year. He put some rookie mistakes on tape early on but he played well down the stretch. In the AFC title game, while filling in for an injured Rapp, Bishop led the team with 10 tackles. 2025 outlook Bishop is hoping to contribute as a full-time starter at safety in 2025. He and Rapp have been putting work in together since early in the offseason. Bishop was quoted as saying that he's feeling a lot more comfortable this offseason compared to last, and he'll enter training camp and preseason with hopes of proving he belongs as a starter in Sean McDermott and Bobby Babich's defense. Bishop and Rapp both offer a hybrid skillet which will help the coaching staff get creative in offering different looks to confuse opposing QBs. Biggest question: How will he fare as a full-time starter? Bishop only saw a handful of spot-starts in 2024 after drawing high praises from the coaches after being picked early in the draft. He did seem to learn from his early rookie mistakes and play well in huge spots for the Bills down the stretch. He is an aggressive playmaker on defense who is capable of covering pass catchers, tackling in space, and making plays downhill. The biggest question is whether he can do these things consistently without missing assignments. Detroit Lions raining camp medical preview: Wide receivers
The Lions enjoyed very good health with their WR's last season. However, there was big news this offseason with an unexpected knee surgery for Amon-Ra St. Brown. Last season, the Lions kept only four WR's on the initial 53-man roster (St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, Isaiah Williams) although Tim Patrick was quickly added in Week 2. Here is the list of WR's starting with the players with the biggest medical question marks entering the season. Ages are at the start of the season. #1: Amon-Ra St. Brown - 25yo ARSB has been amazingly, consistently productive the past few seasons. He was available for all 18 games last year. However, an offseason knee surgery raises some concern. It's unclear when this injury happened or if it's just an accumulation of small traumas over time. The surgery is suspected to be an arthroscopic procedure to clean up cartilage. The severity of cartilage damage is extremely variable, but the fact he was able to effectively play through it last season suggests it's not too serious. However, any level of cartilage damage could become an issue down the road. St. Brown was not placed on PUP at the start of camp which means he's ready to go. Projection: St. Brown likely continues to look like his elite self this season. #2: Tim Patrick - 31yo Coming off an ACL in 2022 and an Achilles rupture in 2023, Patrick rebounded with an excellent, reliable 2024 season by playing in 17 of 18 games. He got $2.5 million guaranteed on a 1-year deal this offseason which means the Lions are pretty confident in him for this coming season. Projection: Patrick continues in his role as the big #3 WR. #3: Kalif Raymond - 31yo Raymond missed five games last year with a left foot injury but was able to return for the final two games. He's been very reliable and productive since joining the team in 2021, but his age is starting to creep up. Projection: Raymond continues in his kick/punt return roles and serves as a reliable WR backup. If the receivers ahead of him stay healthy, his production stays low. But if there are any injuries, Raymond will be ready to step in immediately. #4: Isaac TeSlaa - 23yo The Lions traded up to snag him in the 3rd-round this year because of his size and athleticism. He had a hand fracture in 2022 but has otherwise been healthy. TeSlaa was limited this offseason for unspecified reasons, but there isn't any sign of anything concerning. His absence from PUP is confirmation. Projection: His production this year depends a lot on the health of the players ahead of him. He'll take a big jump in status next year when Patrick and Raymond might be gone. #5: Tom Kennedy - 29yo Kennedy has been on and off the team since 2019. He had a possible arm/shoulder injury in 2023 but should enter the season healthy. Last year, he played 16 offensive snaps. Projection: He won't make the 53-man roster but will be available if the Lions need him during the season. #6: Jameson Williams - 24yo A couple minor ankle sprains are the only health issues since returning from his 2022 ACL. He is young and healthy entering his fourth season. Projection: Williams' role and production continue to increase being the healthiest member of this group. His 5th-year option was picked up, but it's possible he gets an extension before then. #7: Dominic Lovett - 22yo This 7th-round rookie was healthy throughout college. Projection: With so many established players ahead of him, Lovett likely ends up on the practice squad. #8: Jakobie Keeney-James - 24yo This undrafted rookie had some vague injury issues in college. Projection: Practice squad would be a good outcome. #9: Jackson Meeks - 22yo This undrafted rookie had surgery in 2024 for a hairline fracture in his foot which is certainly something to monitor. The Lions reportedly gave him $200,000 to sign after the draft. Projection: The Lions invested some money in him which suggests he has a good chance to land at least on the practice squad. #9: Malik Taylor - 29yo Taylor missed all last year on IR with the Jets for undisclosed reasons. His age and health status make him a questionable fit for the Lions. Projection: Seems like a long-shot to make the team. #10: Ronnie Bell - 25yo Michigan fans fondly remember his exploits, but Bell hasn't done much in the NFL in two seasons with the 49ers. He had a 2021 ACL which isn't a concern now. Projection: Unless he takes a big step up, he probably doesn't have a role on the team.
