The best places to eat in Napa before and after BottleRock this weekend

Napa's BottleRock Napa Valley is arguably more famous for its food than its musical acts. (It even has a star-studded culinary stage.) Nevertheless, festival food is expensive, often requires waiting in long lines and doesn't always live up to the hype.
Luckily, some of Napa's best restaurants are within walking distance of the festival grounds. Here are the top casual food options — recommended by a longtime Napa local — for breakfast, lunch and late night if you're headed to BottleRock, which runs Friday-Sunday, May 23-25.
Breakfast
San Francisco Chronicle associate restaurant critic Cesar Hernandez crowned Contimo's fluffy, buttery biscuits the Bay Area's best. Try them with the Ham & Jam breakfast sandwich ($8.75) — add Pimento cheese for a surprising twist — or whatever the 'Baller Biscuit' special is on Friday, and pair with coffee or a mimosa.
Napa Farmers Market
Swing by the Napa Farmers Market on Saturday morning and piece together a robust breakfast spread consisting of Toasted's bagels, breakfast tacos from Ray Ray's, Frenchy Gourmet's insanely creamy yogurt and fresh fruit from a local farm.
1100 West St., Napa. 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. napafarmersmarket.org
Croccante
Find Napa's best hangover brunch in an unexpected location: Detroit-style pizza joint Croccante. Recover from the previous night's festivities with steak and eggs ($26), a massive stack of buttermilk pancakes ($18) and khachapuri ($18), a cheesy, egg-topped Georgian specialty.
Rory's Bakehouse
2766 Old Sonoma Rd., Napa. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
Lunch
One of downtown Napa's longest-running eateries, Small World serves criminally underrated Mediterranean fare. Get the lamb salad ($18); it should keep you full until dinner.
Armistice Brewing
This chill Napa brewery offers a two-for-one: Pre-game with a pint or two while you scarf down a filling, juicy burger made by French Laundry alum Christopher Ruiz of Butter's Burgers. If you're feeling especially hangry, opt for the incredibly messy pastrami burger ($17). The brewery will also stay open until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday for BottleRock.
Joella's Deli
The fried chicken sandwich ($18) stuffed with a spicy ranch slaw at Joella's Deli food truck — founded by another French Laundry alum — ranks among the best fried chicken sandwiches in the Bay Area, according to the Chronicle's Hernandez. If you're in an empty industrial park, you're in the right place.
2410 Second St., Napa. 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Rutherford Pizza at Frankie's Deli
Napa's first New York City-inspired slice shop opened just in time for BottleRock, and it's the best deal in town. This satellite location of Napa's Rutherford Family Pizza slings $5 slices, including pepperoni, chicken alfredo and Hawaiian, until 3 a.m. (yes, seriously) on Friday and Saturday.
1331 First St., Napa. 4 p.m.-3 a.m. Friday-Saturday.
The Fink
The Fink has the most extensive and inventive cocktail menu in Napa, but don't sleep on its bar food, like the Japanese-inspired egg sandwich ($15), Korean-style fried chicken ($15) and Maine lobster roll ($26).
530 Main St., Napa. 4 p.m.-12 a.m. Friday-Saturday, 4 p.m.-11 p.m. Sunday. thefinknapa.com
Oxbow Public Market
One block from the festival grounds, the Oxbow Public Market is throwing a cover-free, after-party on Saturday featuring a D.J. and food from its vendors, including Hog Island Oyster Co. and Loveski Deli.
61 First. St., Napa. 10 p.m.-12 a.m. Saturday.

6 Must-Hear New Country Songs: Zach Top, Austin Snell, HARDY, Anne Wilson & More

In this week's crop of new music, Zach Top previews his upcoming project Ain't in It for My Health with a new song, while Austin Snell takes an unflinching look at a family tree with some tangled roots. Anne Wilson continues her blend of country and Christian music sounds on her new, four-song EP God Story, while bluegrass prodigy Wyatt Ellis teams with fellow bluegrass stalwarts Trey Hensley and Michael Cleveland to cover a 1950s country/bluegrass classic. And HARDY also issues a new new somber, soulful country release. Check out all of these and more in Billboard's roundup of some of the best country, bluegrass and/or Americana songs of the week below. More from Billboard Katy Perry Fan Collapses on Stage During Lifetimes Tour Stop in Detroit Roger Daltrey Labels Zak Starkey's Exit Comments 'Character Assassination' Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst Attends His Own Lookalike Concert in Nebraska Zach Top, 'South of Sanity' Top continues establishing himself as a premier purveyor of neo-traditional country as he gears up for his sophomore country set, Ain't in It for My Health, to release later this month. Swaths of piano and pedal steel underpin this rich ballad, as Top details the devastating toll that chasing the life of a performer can take on a relationship. 'She says she loves me on the phone as she cries/ And wishes I'd come home to stay,' he sings on this 1980s country-leaning track, which he wrote with Mark Nesler and writer-producer Carson Chamberlain and in the process, adds to his already top-shelf catalog of songs. Austin Snell, 'Family Tree' Snell delivers an unflinching meditation on generational trauma on his new song. 'How much of it is in my veins/ How much of it is up to me?' he ponders, asking a stark question of just how much familial struggles such as alcoholism weave through bloodlines, and how much one's self-determination changes that trajectory. This clear-eyed but hopeful track is one of Snell's most captivating to date, one that declares history doesn't have to dictate one's destiny. Anna Vaus & Madison Hughes, 'Scenic Route' Tender, flowery guitars, keyboards and percussion, elevate this dreamy solo write from Vaus, who together with Madison Hughes turns in dusky, warm harmonies. 'I used to believe there was such a thing as a wrong/ 'Cause I'd taken so many,' she sings, but ultimately realizes that even when life unspools in a direction that departs from hopeful plans, there's wisdom in appreciating the unexpected beauty of the journey. Anne Wilson, (EP) Wilson continues her hybrid country/Contemporary Christian sound on her latest EP, the four-track God Story. The songs continue several lyrical themes she's become known for; from turning trials and triumphs into an interlocking testimony ('God Story') and paying tribute to her late brother Jacob ('Twenty Three'). The EP's standout is the jangly, country-rocker 'The Devil Is Too,' which evolves into a jamband feel, with handclaps, swaths of acoustic guitar and mandolin, and a sing-a-long vocal chorus as Wilson leans into her rich soulful country tones. Wyatt Ellis feat. Trey Hensley and Michael Cleveland, 'Country Boy Rock n' Roll' Sixteen-year-old bluegrass prodigy, vocalist/songwriter and mandolin player Wyatt Ellis, possesses a musical acumen and knowledge of of musicians twice his age. Here, he teams with bluegrass stalwarts Trey Hensley (guitar/vocals) and Michael Cleveland (fiddle) for a reimagined version of this 1956 song from acclaimed bluegrass/country duo Reno and Smiley (which Marty Stuart also covered in 2010). Slabs of fierce fiddle, precise mandolin picking and rich harmonies envelop this tale of a country boy, used to a life filled with fields of corn and cotton, who trades life in the fields for life on the road thanks to his newfound love of rock 'n' roll. HARDY, 'Bottomland' HARDY issues one of his most soulful country songs to date, with this somber, piano-fueled song offering one person's hopes that when the time comes, they are buried in the bottomland pattern of camo they so favored while hunting in the woods. 'Bury me in bottomland, with my grandpa's rifle in my hands,' he sings, with this reflective track serving as a sterling reminder that HARDY isn't just one of country music's premier songsmiths, but he's also capable of delivering soul-stirring, emotionally charged vocal performances. Katy Perry Fan Collapses on Stage During Lifetimes Tour Stop in Detroit

Katy Perry's Lifetimes Tour stop in Detroit turned a bit more dramatic than planned on Sunday night. A young girl collapsed mid-show during Perry's nightly ritual of bringing a few fans on stage to help her perform her 2011 single 'The One That Got Away.' More from Billboard Roger Daltrey Labels Zak Starkey's Exit Comments 'Character Assassination' Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst Attends His Own Lookalike Concert in Nebraska David Roach, Junkyard Vocalist and Frontman, Dies at 59 The fan, named McKenna, was spotted by Perry sitting in the very top corner of Little Caesars Arena, via a bright blue sequined skirt she was wearing. Perry even waited for her and a friend who came with her to make the long trip down to the floor level and embraced both as they came on stage, McKenna clearly overcome with emotion for being chosen. She fainted as Perry prepared to start the song and was immediately attended to by members of the singer's crew and venue medical staff; a visibly concerned Perry knelt alongside her as the crowd of about 13,000 chanted McKenna's name in support. She was taken from the stage, after which Katy pulled the other three young fans into a group hug and led a prayer, saying, 'Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen.' Perry also remarked that, 'It's so much. Sometimes you're so brave and you can get on stage, and it's overwhelming. I understand that feeling.' Perry then performed 'The One That Got Away' and ushered the other three fans back off the stage. A short time later, while riding a giant butterfly prop above the crowd, she reported that, 'McKenna's doing great, by the way,' which was also confirmed to Billboard by backstage sources. Perry also shouted the fan's name at the end of the song. Sunday's show was the 13th in the latest North American Leg of the Lifetimes Tour, which Perry kicked off during late April in Mexico City. The tour next stops Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 5-6, in Toronto and will run through Dec. 7 in Abu Dhabi.
