NSPCC Jersey seeks volunteers for abuse prevention project
A charity is looking for volunteers to take part in a project to help teach school pupils about Jersey said it had launched a search for volunteers to deliver its Speak Out Stay Safe assemblies and workshops at primary scheme aims to help pupils different forms of abuse and how to get help from adults or the NSPCC's Childline who want to volunteer do not need any previous experience of working with children as training would be provided, the charity said. Anyone interested in taking part was asked to visit the NSPCC volunteering website.

Danzey Green Windmill sails turning once more after 200 years
A Worcestershire windmill dating back to the 19th Century is returning to action this weekend. Avoncroft Museum, in Bromsgrove, said the sails of Danzey Green Windmill would turn once more. The historic structure has been located at the museum since it was saved from demolition in the late 1960s. It had been transported from Warwickshire, where it stood since 1820. But it has been still for six years, as £70,000 in repairs were needed to keep it structurally sound. On Saturday, Mike Field will cut a ceremonial ribbon, welcoming the windmill back to its "operational glory". The experienced millwright led the original reconstruction of the windmill more than five decades ago. Zoe Willems, museum director, told BBC Hereford & Worcester it remained the only working post mill in the West Midlands, using wind power to turn grain into flour."I think she's an amazing survivor," Ms Willems said. "It's thanks to Avoncroft Museum existing to preserve these things, but also generations of people, volunteers especially, who have given their skills, their time and their passion to keep her in working order." Middlesbrough historian honoured for 'decades of dedication'
A historian who has devoted his life to chronicling a town's heritage has been given one of its leading Moorsom was granted the honorary freedom of the borough of Middlesbrough in recognition of his "decades of dedication", the local council former teacher was nominated by fellow historian Dr Tosh Warwick, who spoke at the ceremony at Middlesbrough Town Warwick, a researcher at the University of Sheffield, said the "admiration and appreciation shown by those in attendance reflects the major contribution and impact Norman's work has had across the generations". He added he had "no doubt at all Norman's work will continue to inspire future generations of Teessiders and historians"."It is fitting that he is now recognised alongside other great figures in the town's history, including the town's first Freeman, William Fallows, who is also Norman's hero." 'Worked tirelessly' The granting of the award was unanimously approved by the council in Mayor Chris Cooke said Mr Moorsom's work researching and chronicling the area's history was "unparalleled"."For more than 60 years he has worked tirelessly to tell the story of this remarkable place and its people, creating a peerless body of work that will be enjoyed by generations to come."The freedom of the borough is an honour bestowed on just a select few in recognition of an extraordinary contribution to the life of the town, and Norman is a thoroughly deserving recipient."Copies of Mr Moorsom's books are currently on display and available for loan at Acklam Community Hub and Library.
