JessC's 'My Style' rocks Genting with a three-hour spectacle of light and music healing
Over the course of three hours and 33 songs, she fused light, rhythm, and emotional frequencies to create a musical healing feast that transcended language and culture, setting Genting ablaze.
As a Doctor of Integrative Clinical Medicine and a certified therapeutic musician, JessC personally curated the entire performance, blending science and art to turn 'music therapy' from an abstract concept into a palpable energy release felt by nearly 5,000 fans in the arena.
The entire concert was built around the theme of 'light,' from the stage lighting, lyrical imagery, and emotional rhythms to the color-changing glow sticks in the audience's hands.
JessC delivered healing anthems in three languages — Mandarin, English, and Malay — including crowd favorites like 'Unchanging Love,' 'The Olive Tree,' and 'Getaran Jiwa.' She also impressed with her self-accompanied performances on four instruments: piano, organ, keyboard, and keytar, showcasing her versatility and musical prowess.
To create a rich and layered listening experience, the live band included around 30 different traditional and modern instruments, merging Western pop band arrangements with Chinese traditional music and a string ensemble, achieving a harmonious blend that transcended cultures.
JessC also performed many original compositions, including 'My Style,' 'Be Strong,' 'One Chance,' 'Dekati,' '5AM,' and 'Shining,' as well as powerful renditions of theme songs from stage plays like 'The Butterfly Lovers,' 'Music Box,' and 'Tearless Sky,' all delivered with deeply moving emotion.
A highlight of the night was her duet with Malaysian diva Fauziah Latiff on 'Tak Terpisah,' a moving and perfectly synchronized performance that touched hearts. Surprise appearances by two male stage actors further added to the night's excitement.
The concert drew international fans, guests and media from Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Europe, the US, Australia etc, reflecting JessC's growing influence far beyond her homeland.
One of her standout songs, 'Be Strong,' has been gaining popularity overseas, with listeners sharing how the song has given them courage and strength. JessC said, 'Perhaps the words 'Be Strong' really do have a kind of power that can pierce through the heart.'

She therefore held a memorial service on the first anniversary of his death, and attached a black-and-white photo of the event. 'In the past year, even though you are no longer with us, I still feel that you are with me and our child, learning and growing together,' she wrote in Chinese. 'We (our friends and I) never shy away from anything related to you. Instead, we prefer to talk openly about your kindness to everyone, as well as the warmth and influence you brought to everyone. This is our way of remembering, mourning and healing.' Asked by a friend how she managed to get through the difficult time, she said she and her late husband loved each other without regrets. 'When you were alive, we never hesitated to express our love,' she wrote. 'We always gave each other the deepest care and companionship until the very end.' She added: 'I have never stopped missing you every festival and every special moment.' She said she would use her husband's thoughtful and considerate love for her over the years to raise their child. 'I often tell my friends that the love you had given me over the past 11 years is more than enough for me to raise Skye well,' she wrote. Ma noted that many people who have benefited from her husband's kindness came for his memorial service. 'I thought you were good and gentle enough, but after hearing everyone share their stories and watching your videos, I realised you were so much better than we could have imagined. I'm so proud of you,' she wrote. 'The good deeds you did in your life, the light you radiated – all of them deserve to be remembered. This world is truly a better place because of you. Please continue to be brave and kind in the other world. We will always love you.' Ma recently held a celebration for her son's first birthday, inviting her celebrity pals such as Zheng Geping, Hong Huifang, Chen Xiuhuan and Apple Hong. Hollywood actor Ross Butler has a deep love for Malaysia. Born to a Malaysian-Chinese mother and an English-Dutch father, Butler, 35, never had the opportunity to truly explore his Malaysian roots. That is, until he landed a role in the upcoming romantic comedy Worth The Wait , which was partially filmed in Malaysia. Another fun fact – Lana is very scared of monkeys, and there was a very big one we had to keep scaring away.' Authentic Asian stories Directed by Taiwanese filmmaker Tom Lin Shu-yu, Worth The Wait centres on four Asian-American couples, whose journeys intertwine as they navigate life's challenges. There's Kai (Ross) and Leah (Condor), a couple trying to make a long-distance relationship work; Scott (Andrew Koji) and Amanda (Elodie Yung), who have an on-and-off relationship; Blake (Ricky He) and Riley (Ali Fumiko Whitney), young lovebirds whose romance meets disapproval from Blake's uncle Curtis (Sung Kang); as well as Nathan (Osric Chau) and Teresa (Karena Lam), a married couple grappling with the aftermath of a miscarriage. 'They fall in love, experience loss and happiness... Those roles could've been played by anyone regardless of their ethnicity,' Tan, 43, told StarLifestyle . One powerful storyline is that of Nathan and Teresa, whose struggle with grief adds emotional depth to this rom-com. It's inspired by Tan's sister, who experienced a miscarriage in real life. 'It was only after I had my own child and had my own experience with miscarriage that I truly realised how soul-wrenching it is.' Though she and her sister initially felt alone in their grief, they later discovered that many other women in their community had endured the same pain. 'They all felt alone too, and that's why I wanted to show this part of our journey,' she said. From spouse to best friends On the topic of motherhood, Singaporean actress Tan Kheng Hua – who plays a mum in Worth The Wait – is no stranger to the role. Known for portraying maternal characters in shows like Crazy Rich Asians (2018) and Kung Fu (2021-2023), Kheng Hua, 62, said it's a role she would gladly take on for 'the rest of my life'. 'Each time I play a mother, I get to dig deeper into a part of my heart and soul. 'All the mothers out there know being a mum is complex and difficult, yet beautiful and joyous,' she said. For the record, Kheng Hua shares a 23-year-old daughter with her ex-husband, fellow Singaporean actor Lim Yu Beng – who also appears in Worth The Wait as Kai's father. Though divorced, the pair – who were married from 1992 to 2017 – remain very close. 'At the time I took on the role, I didn't know who else was involved (in the movie), including my ex-wife, and we're best friends in real life,' said Lim, 59. The actor also spoke fondly about Penang, where his parents are from. 'My favourite Malaysian food is cooked at home, Penang laksa,' he said. Kheng Hua then chimed in: 'His mum cooks the best Penang laksa in the world. She uses two packs of fish, so next time you're in Singapore, give (Lim) a call!'
