Tata Power dips after arbitration tribunal partially rules in favour of Kleros
The arbitration, conducted under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) rules, stems from claims made by Kleros that Tata Power breached confidentiality and non-circumvention clauses outlined in a Non-Disclosure Agreement. The NDA was signed as part of discussions for a potential coal mining partnership in Russia.
In a stock exchange filing dated 2 July 2025, Tata Power informed investors that the three-member tribunal, by a majority of two to one, has awarded Kleros damages amounting to $490.32 million, along with simple interest at the rate of 5.33% from 30 November 2020, until payment is made. Additionally, the tribunal awarded Kleros a further $8.29 million as legal costs, also carrying simple interest of 5.33% from 1 July 2025, until paid.
The arbitration proceedings were initiated by Kleros in November 2020, and oral hearings concluded in February 2024. The award was received by Tata Power after business hours on 1 July 2025.
Tata Power has stated that it is currently reviewing the contents of the award and evaluating all available legal options, including a possible challenge to the decision.

₹10 lakh crore investments flowing into State: Minister Anagani Satyaprasad
Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad announced that investments worth ₹10 lakh crore are now flowing into Andhra Pradesh. He further added that the State government is committed to transforming Vizag into a hub for IT companies on the lines of Hyderabad. Speaking to the press on Sunday at the district TDP office, the Minister alleged that the YSRCP leaders who sold cheap liquor during their tenure in power have no right to comment about the development in the State. Mr Satyaprasad said: 'The previous YSRCP government drove away investments from Visakhapatnam, the present government is putting every effort to bring in as much investment as they can..' He added, 'During the YSRCP tenure, the State incurred debts of ₹10 lakh crore, leaving behind nothing but mountains of garbage and mismanagement.' He asserted that the NDA government is focused on 'development and welfare, and a ministerial sub-committee is actively working to resolve revenue-related issues. 'Positive governance is being implemented and we are focusing on resolving land disputes,' he said, adding that a revenue meeting will be conducted at the Visakhapatnam Collector's office to address public grievances on Monday. Government Whip Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao, who was also present, stated that the coalition government was prioritising economic growth. Former Legislative Council member Duvvarapu Rama Rao said: 'The TDP has always given due importance to North Andhra leaders such as Yerram Naidu, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Ayyanna Patrudu, Kala Venkata Rao, and Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy.' BSL township residents to pay more for power
Bokaro: The Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission hiked electricity charges by five paise per unit for domestic LT and HT consumers in the Bokaro Steel Township, after seven years. "This increase will affect BSL quarter residents, while plot holders and other categories like Commercial, Agricultural, and Streetlight services will see no change," said Manikant Dhan, chief of communication, BSL. Sources said Bokaro Steel Plant is expected to generate an additional Rs 30 lakh annually due to this revision. The hike comes after a public hearing held last month, where the management proposed the tariff revision. Citizens, however, strongly opposed it. TNN "Instead of burdening honest consumers, stop rampant power theft by illegal occupants," said one attendee during last month's public hearing. Another added, "Let BSL plug the leaks before raising rates."
