Antonio Conte Reveals Message To Napoli Squad After 1-1 Serie A Draw Vs Inter Milan: 'For The First Time, I Said It'
Antonio Conte says that he finally gave his Serie A title message to the Napoli squad after their 1-1 draw with Inter Milan in March.
The coach spoke to Italian outlet Sette, via FCInterNews. He recalled how that was the match where he was convinced that his team could dream of the title.

Napoli beat Inter Milan to the Serie A title in the season just gone. They did so on the final day of the season, by just a point.
It was a campaign in which the Partenopei had the advantage in the title race for the majority of the time.
However, it was also a season that saw Inter push Napoli all the way. They had chances to overtake the Partenopei right until the end, but failed to take advantage of them.

Napoli were able to establish a lead for themselves in the table relatively early on in the season.
However, there was always a sense that this advantage was relatively precarious. Even with Inter's regular slip-ups in the league.

Wins over teams like AC Milan, Roma, Atalanta, and Juventus certainly gave Napoli more credibility in the title race.
However, it was the head-to-head matches against Inter that really set the tone in the title race.
In November, Inter hosted Napoli at the San Siro. The Nerazzurri were perhaps the better side then and unlucky to draw 1-1.
But in Naples in March it was a much different story. Inter took the lead in the first half, but Napoli were absolutely dominant in the second half, and deservedly snatched a point late on.
Napoli coach Antonio Conte recalled 'the one against Inter' as the match that really made him believe the title was possible.

'When we cam behind. And even looked like we could've won it.'
'I said it publicly for the first time after that,' said Conte. 'If we want it, we can do it.'
'That was a message for my players,' the Napoli coach continued. 'I believed in it, and so they had to do so as well.'
'Then in football there's always room for the unlikely. The draw against Genoa seriously risked compromising our Scudetto chase.'

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak only wants to join Liverpool

Liverpool have received a big boost in their efforts to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak. According to Fabrizio Romano, Isak only wants to join the Merseyside titans this summer despite interest from many other clubs. Newcastle have been adamant that the Swedish footballer is not for sale in this transfer window. But the striker has clearly expressed his desire to leave St James' Park, putting the Magpies in a difficult situation. Liverpool are expected to make a formal approach for Isak in the coming days, despite spending £79m to sign Hugo Ektike from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Premier League champions will likely have to break the British transfer record for the 25-year-old, as he is reportedly valued at £150m by Newcastle. Given their big outlay this summer, doubts were raised about their ability to sign Isak in the current window. But it emerges Arne Slot's side can afford to spend another £200m and remain compliant with Profit and Sustainability Rules. They have been frugal in the previous three transfer windows, and also banked £174.9m in prize money for winning the Premier League last season. Liverpool are also set for a financial boost as they are close to selling Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich. The two clubs have reportedly reached an agreement worth up to £65m, with the Colombian also keen on the move. The Reds are also open to offers for Darwin Nunez, who has been attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

Man Utd urged to take advantage of PL frontman's precarious contract situation, he'd ‘tick a lot of boxes'

Manchester United have been urged to try their luck in pursuit of Crystal Palace frontman Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has yet to commit his long-term future to the club despite being in contract talks for several months. It's no secret that INEOS chiefs are now desperately scouring the market for a suitable striker addition in time for 2025/2026 getting underway in less than a month's time. United have already missed out on a whopping three targets in the window thus far: Liam Delap when he signed for Chelsea, Hugo Ekitike before he made the move to Liverpool, and Viktor Gyokeres when he officially sealed his desired switch to Arsenal over the weekend. As a result, forwards that are not only available but also valued at affordable prices are few and far between this summer. Why United should test Palace's resolve for Jean-Philippe Mateta Mateta has flourished under Oliver Glasner. (Photo by) That's why Manchester Evening News' George Smith has implored the Red Devils board to go all-out for Mateta in hopes of taking advantage of his uncertain future at Selhurst Park. The 28-year-old has enjoyed spells of particularly eye-catching over the last two seasons; he notched 16 goals and six assists in 35 Premier League appearances in 2023/2024, followed by 14 goals and two assists last time out. Outside the top flight, he played a key role in Palace reigning triumphant in the FA Cup final to secure their first-ever major trophy. 'Mateta ticks plenty of boxes. He is a defender's worst nightmare, both with the ball at his feet and in the air,' says Smith. Mateta hopes to oversee an even more prolific 25/26 term for one key reason To make matters more intriguing for United, Mateta is said to be dreaming of a World Cup call-up next summer, which would see him potentially represent France for the first-ever time at senior level outside of last year's Olympics. Whilst he could indeed be rewarded for a stellar campaign with the Eagles, representing a club like United, the 20-time champions of England, throughout their 2025/2026 rebuild may aid his case considerably more – the likes of Leny Yoro, who's awaiting his debut for France, will also be aiming to impress Didier Deschamps. Why Chelsea refuse to sell their 5th choice defender after club decision

Chelsea's ruthless transfer strategy has gone to another gear this summer, with the Blues now past the stage of selling off the players from the previous regime and into the stage of selling players bought within the last two years if the chance for profit is there. Noni Madueke and Djordje Petrovic are gone, Renato Veiga and Joao Felix are likely to be next as the summer of sales rolls on. High player turnover every summer the new reality for Chelsea Tosin and Cole Palmer celebrate Club World Cup win. (Photo by) It's an upsetting of the usual order of things in football – you wouldn't have seen a first team regular like Madueke sold to a league rival in the days of Jose Mourinho. But that's how it is now. Anyone is for sale at the right price. But that doesn't mean there won't be decisions taken for the sake of the group as a whole. Chelsea consider defender 'untouchable' for off the field reasons Curiously, given we're happy to sell first choice players, there's a fifth choice player who is apparently considered 'untouchable.' An exclusive from the Sun over the weekend claimed that Tosin Adarabioyo was not for sale, despite interest from Crystal Palace and West Ham. Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill form Enzo Maresca's favoured partnership and Trevoh Chalobah seems to be established as third choice now. With the impending arrival of Jorrel Hato, Tosin could soon find himself 5th choice centre-back – but he won't be going anywhere. That's because of his dressing room benefits – as one of the senior player who is seen to knit things together behind the scenes despite the endless personnel turnover, plus his close relationship with the team's star player Cole Palmer. That's the best kind of job security of all.
