Around 80 AICCTU members, including national president V Shankar, participated in the event.
A total of 10 central trade union have called the strike in support of their demands including withdrawal of four labour codes, govt recognition and payment of Rs 28,000 per month to rasoiyas,
and scheme workers, implementation of old pension scheme for govt employees, stopping contractual system of employment, creation of employment opportunities, discontinuation of privatization and others.
The meeting also discussed the progress of AICCTU including its membership drives across the country.
AICCTU state secretary Subhendu Sen said his union had membership of 9.50 lakh in the country and 1.20 lakh in Jharkhand in Feb. "We have planned to make members among the unorganised workers in coal sector and also among contractual workers in the state. We would also form district committees in at least 21 districts of the state. Presently we have only nine district committees."

Authorities say they acted swiftly, fearing she could destroy evidence. Deputy commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau Jaroonkiat Pankaew said, 'this woman is dangerous and we needed to arrest her as soon as possible'. Police allege that Wilawan used romantic and sexual traps to manipulate monks into transferring large sums of money often taken from temple bank accounts, under the threat of public exposure. In one case, she allegedly claimed to be pregnant and demanded 7.2 million baht from a abbot who later fled the monkhood in disgrace. Digital forensics uncovered tens of thousands of photos, videos, and chats on Wilawan's phones evidence that could involve several more monks in Thailand. Investigators found over 385 million baht (over Rs 101 crore) had passed through her bank accounts over the past three years, much of it believed to have been spent on online gambling sites. 'She exploited their vulnerabilities… It's a betrayal not only of individuals but of public trust in our religious institutions' Jaroonkiat said. Acting Prime Minister of Thailand Phumtham Wechayachai has ordered a review of monk regulations and temple finances, calling for greater transparency to restore faith in Buddhism. Police have also set up a Facebook page inviting the public to report unethical behavior by monks, signaling what could be a long and reckoning for the clergy. Wilawan has remained silent since her arrest. She previously admitted to a single relationship in an interview before charges were filed, claiming she had given money to the monk involved. Her legal representation, if any, remains unclear.

Central govt committed to inclusive development: Union Minister
Jaipur: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale, on Wednesday said the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to ensuring justice and development for all sections of society. Addressing a press conference in Jaipur, the Minister said that through various public welfare schemes, efforts have been made to uplift 25 crore people from poverty. He highlighted that due to the economic policies of the Central government over the last 10 years, India has become the world's fourth-largest economy. Athawale shared that in the Union Budget 2025-26, the government has allocated Rs 1,68,478 crore for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, an increase of 2 per cent or Rs 2,960 crore from last year. For Scheduled Tribes, Rs 1,29,249.75 crore has been allocated, up by Rs 4,340.8 crore compared to the previous year. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, over 55.69 crore bank accounts have been opened across the country, including 3.71 crore in Rajasthan. Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, loans worth Rs 34.32 lakh crore have been given to 53.85 crore beneficiaries nationwide. In Rajasthan, 2.30 crore people have received loans amounting to Rs 1.81 lakh crore. Athawale said that under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, 10.33 crore LPG connections have been distributed nationwide, with 73.81 lakh connections in Rajasthan. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, around 4 crore houses have been sanctioned. He also informed that over 9.62 crore people across the country have benefited from the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. In Rajasthan alone, more than 73 lakh people have received healthcare benefits under this scheme between 2018 and 2025. He reiterated that the Central government is dedicated to the holistic development of the country, ensuring that benefits reach the last person in the queue.

Remove Ads In a setback to Hindustan Motors , the makers of iconic Ambassador sedan, the Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the West Bengal government's decision's for resumption of 395 acre of land under the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, Hindustan Motors had stopped production of its legendary Ambassador sedan at its Uttarpara factory in Hooghly district in 2014. The state government took back 395 acre in 2022 through "resumption" from the company, which had been allegedly declared financially sick and its land was lying unutilised and unproductive.A Bench led by Justice BV Nagarathna refused to interfere with the Calcutta High Court decision upholding the state government's company alleged that the West Bengal government unlawfully took possession of its plant without Calcutta High Court in May dismissed the Hindustan Motors' petition challenging the order of the West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal upholding the State's resumption of 395 acre of land under Section 6(3) of the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, Mamata Banerjee government had earlier announced that the state faced a scarcity of land for industry and had decided to take back industrial land lying unused to allot it to new taking back the land from Hindustan Motors, the government has given about 40 acre at Mouza to Titagarh Rail Systems on a 99-year lease for a consideration of Rs 127 crore to facilitate the establishment of additional production infrastructure and dedicated areas for forming, testing, and commissioning Metro coaches and Vande Bharat trains.
