Ramasamy charged with CBT involving RM859,131
The 76-year-old was charged at Special Corruption Sessions Court in Butterworth and made the plea before Judge Zulhazmi Abdullah today, Sinar Harian reported.
Ramasamy, who was PHEB chairman from 2010 to 2023 has been reported for alleged abuse of power involving a total amount of RM859,131 of the board's funds without approvals.
The charges were brought under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which provides that a conviction carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, whipping, and a fine.

Divorcee charged with raping teen at homestay unit
MUAR: A man was today charged in the magistrates' court with raping a teenage girl who had been reported missing in Kepong before being found in Batu Pahat on Sunday. The accused, Goh Sek Loong, 46, pleaded guilty as soon as the charge was read by the interpreter. However, magistrate Suzana Mokhtar rejected the plea, deeming it unsafe as the man appeared to be in an unstable condition. "The accused's guilty plea is not safe to accept. "The manner in which the answer (plea) was given is also unacceptable," she said. The accused, who is a divorcee, allegedly raped the 15-year-old student at a homestay unit in Batu Pahat on the night of July 26. For this, the accused was charged under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison and caning upon conviction. The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor Diyana Najihah Muhamed Fauzi, while the accused was unrepresented. Court set Aug 4 for the submission of documents and the appointment of a lawyer, in addition to the bail status. It was reported that a missing teenager was found safe in Batu Pahat on July 22. The Batu Pahat district police headquarters located the teenage girl based on information from the public before she was taken to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for further examination. The teenager was reported missing after her grandfather dropped her off at a secondary school in Taman Ehsan, Kepong, last Wednesday. Her disappearance was only noticed around 12.30pm when her grandfather went to pick her up.

Doctor pleads not guilty to cheating Socso in Bukit Mertajam court
BUKIT MERTAJAM: A doctor pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court here today to cheating the Social Security Organisation (Socso) by allegedly forging a domestic worker registration form three years ago. Dr Winnie Ong Beng Cheen, 44, entered her plea after the charge under Section 417 of the Penal Code was read before Magistrate Nurul Rasyidah Mohd Akit. The prosecution accused her of deceiving Socso into accepting a falsified form signed by Cheah Chyuan Yong, leading to the registration of Indonesian domestic worker Nurhayati Hasan. The alleged deception caused Socso and Cheah to be misled into monthly contributions of RM20.60. The offence reportedly occurred on Nov 21, 2022, at a residence in Taman Saujana Permai, Bukit Mertajam. Magistrate Nurul Rasyidah granted bail at RM5,000 with one surety and scheduled the next mention for Sept 4. Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Shakila Dahari prosecuted, while lawyer Chiang Kian Hong represented Dr Ong, a single mother of four children aged 10 to 17. - Bernama
