Top 5 most expensive homes for sale in St. Albert in April 2025
To quote Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, 'There's no place like home,' and if she lived in a home like these ones, she may have rushed back to Kansas sooner.
In March, CTV News Edmonton looked at some of the more affordable homes for sale in the city.
Only two of the listings from that article are still up, but now we're back to the other side of the scale and headed just over the Anthony Henday Drive to the city of St. Albert.
In March, there were 3,780 new residential listings in the Greater Edmonton Area, which includes surrounding areas like St. Albert, and 2,494 residential unit sales, according to the Realtors Association of Edmonton. Those numbers are up 44.5 per cent and 36.9 per cent, respectively.
Looking at detached homes, there were 1,434 units sold, which is down 1.8 per cent from March 2024. The average price for detached homes went up 1.2 per cent in March to land at $574,872, which is 11.2 per cent higher than the same month in 2024.
'The marked increase in sales and new listings means the busy season has arrived, and with prices on the rise, it's a great time to be on the seller's side,' association board chair Darlene Reid said in the statistics report.
'For buyers, the higher level of inventory available means a better chance of finding your dream home, but with overall inventory still lower than last year, multiple-offer situations are also becoming increasingly common.'
Detached homes were on the market for an average of 30 days in March, a nine-day decrease from February.

Epcor offers up to $10K in rebates through rainwater pilot program
Epcor is offering up to $10,000 in rebates to eligible projects that help slow the direct flow of rainwater into storm drains. (Dave Mitchell/CTV News Edmonton) Edmontonians could receive up to $10,000 in rebates from Epcor through a pilot program that encourages property owners to slow rainwater from flooding storm drains. The RainWise program was launched in April and it will run for three years. Single-family, multi-family and commercial properties in Edmonton are eligible for a rebate if they build a project that meets certain eligibility requirements and slows the direct drainage of storm water. Epcor RainWise rebate program The Epcor RainWise program provides up to $10,000 in rebates to eligible projects that help prevent a demand on city storm systems. (Dave Mitchell/CTV News Edmonton) Projects listed on the Epcor website include: Downspout disconnections; rain barrels and storage tanks; rain gardens and box planters; soakaway pits; permeable pavement; and absorbent landscaping. 'If we can slow it down, it helps prevent flooding in local areas, then ultimately for the greater city of Edmonton area,' Dale DeBock with Epcor told CTV News Edmonton on Friday. He said up to $2,000 rebate may be approved for a multi-family project, and up to $10,000 rebate for larger commercial projects. 'We've put our money where our mouth is and we want to help the community do these projects, and we are encouraging these projects to happen,' he said, adding that Epcor has invested $300,000 for the length of the pilot. Epcor is offering rebates for eligible property projects that slow rainwater Homeowners can receive rebates for eligible projects through an Epcor pilot program that aims to slow rainwater from entering storm drains. (Dave Mitchell/CTV News Edmonton) DeBock said to avoid flooding, Epcor has had to do 'expensive upgrades to storm systems' and build big pipes to 'handle' all the rainwater. He said the program incentivizes people to take initiative and explore different things they can do in their backyards, and to help avoid these added costs. 'This is an opportunity to invest in the community and people's personal part of the city that would reduce the cost … or even eliminate the need for an upgrade altogether.' Applications can be made online. Projects that meet the eligibility requirements will receive a reply with approval. Receipts are then submitted when work is completed and homeowners will receive the rebate. At the time of the interview, DeBock said more than 220 applications have been made since the start of the program. With files from CTV News Edmonton's Nahreman Issa and Dave Mitchell

5 of the most expensive homes for sale in Strathcona County in July 2025
Instinct tells us all to go home, according to Scottish author Laura Marney, and with homes like these, those instincts are correct. In June, CTV News Edmonton looked at some of the most expensive houses in Sherwood Park. Of those five homes, only one listing is still up. The cost of housing is an ever-fluctuating thing and sometimes prices don't reflect how amazing a house truly is. This month, we're not just showcasing the most expensive houses, but ones that have that 'wow' factor you would expect from homes that cost upwards of $1 million. Some people might be happy with a simple house with a few thousand square feet and several-dozen acres, and those are available (link), but they aren't the most fun to look at. First, some data for Strathcona County: In June, there were 57 residential unit sales in the county, 53 of those were detached houses, according to the Realtors Association of Edmonton (RAE). There were 70 new listings and the average price was $927,494. These numbers compare to 2,877 units sold, 4,215 new listings and an average price of $464,955 in the greater Edmonton area. 'We're starting to see signs of a slowdown in some categories—particularly semi-detached and row/townhomes, where sales dipped and time on market increased,' said RAE board chair Darlene Reid in the monthly statistics report. 'That said, with inventory growing and strong listing activity, the Greater Edmonton Area continues to offer opportunity for both buyers and sellers as we head into the second half of the year.' Here are some of the most expensive, and interesting, houses for sale in Strathcona County, according to 5 - $1.22M bungalow with an outdoor hockey rink Starting off appropriately in greater oil country is this 2,754-square-foot walkout bungalow in Aspen Woods Estates. In the basement there is a media/theatre room, gym, wet bar and gun/cold storage room. A home for sale in Strathcona County. ( A home for sale in Strathcona County. ( The 'wow' in this home is the complete outdoor hockey rink and zamboni. In photos, the boarded rink appears to be about as long, or longer, than the house. The backyard also has what appears to be a small stormwater pond. A home for sale in Strathcona County. ( A home for sale in Strathcona County. A home for sale in Strathcona County. ( A home for sale in Strathcona County. ( The large, open-concept kitchen and dining area look out over the 40-acre property. Baristas show off their skills in last day of national competition
The 2025 Canadian Barista Championships wrapped up in Edmonton on July 27, 2025. (CTV News Edmonton/Connor Hogg) Coffee aromatics filled the Oliver Exchange Building 2 Sunday as the 2025 Canadian Barista Championships wrapped up its final day of a three-day competition. Eighteen competitors from across the country – including five hometown heroes – were pulling espresso shots and steaming milk in hopes of claiming the top prize. The winner of the championship will have the chance to compete in Milan, Italy for the World Barista Championship in October. Santiago Lopez, a competitor and co-owner of the Colombian Coffee Bar and Roastery, said the event helps move the industry forward. 'We get to showcase the quality of coffee that we have in the city, and its good to just showcase the city in general,' Lopez told CTV News Edmonton. 'Over the last 10 years, the industry in Edmonton has really evolved … and now we have a bunch of different, good coffee roasters and people that really appreciate coffee.' He said people are treating coffee as part of their morning ritual, rather than a commodity. Each competitor was required to complete a 15-minute 'performance,' preparing four espressos, four milk-based drinks and four unique signature beverages. Every performance was evaluated by a panel of 34 judges. But Lopez said the event wasn't just a competition. 'The intent for us all is to show other people in coffee, in the city, that we can get to higher levels, that we can push each other, that we're not in competition, that we're collaborators,' said Lopez. 'I think this tells everybody that we need to come together as a community to grow the industry in this city.' With files from CTV News Edmonton's Connor Hogg
