Andy Farrell and Joe Schmidt disagree over ref call as Lions clinch series win

The Lions clinched a 29-26 victory in the second Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground but there was high drama in the closing seconds as the match officials examined a potentially-dangerous clearout by Jac Morgan earlier in the move.
Captains Harry Wilson and Maro Itoje attempted to influence referee Andrea Piardi during the decision-making process before it was eventually judged that Morgan's contact with Carlo Tizzano was legal.

If Keenan's try had been chalked off, the series would have gone to a decider in Sydney next Saturday. Instead, the Lions have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead.
'It was a brilliant clearout. I couldn't understand what they were going back for,' Lions head coach Farrell said.
'They seem to go back for absolutely everything these days, don't they? I'm so pleased that the referee held his nerve. The right decision in my opinion.'
Furious Australia boss Schmidt felt the outcome reached by Piardi was at odds with the game's push to improve player safety and accused the Italian of failing to implement the laws.
'Just watch the footage,' said Schmidt, who insisted the incident taking place in the final minute influenced the verdict.
'You just have to read law 9.20 and you just have to listen to the description from the referee and then watch the footage when two players are described as arriving at the same time.
'You cannot hit someone above the levels of the shoulders and there's no bind with the left arm, his hand is on the ground. That's what we have seen.
'We have watched a number of replays from different angles so it is what it is. We just have to accept it.
'Players make errors. Match officials make errors. Our perspective is we felt it was a decision that doesn't really live up to the big player safety push that they are talking about.
Schmidt also placed a spotlight on Dan Sheehan's 16th-minute try when he took a quick tap penalty and crossed the whitewash by launching himself into the air.
The try was allowed to stand because he dived while in the act of scoring, but Schmidt insisted the fact he was airborne made him virtually impossible to stop.
'World Rugby are trying to make sure that we are tackling lower and so we had two tacklers going in to tackle low – and he dived and scored,' the Kiwi said.
'He is pretty much head first so what do we do to stop him scoring apart from stopping his head? There's not much else you can do.'

Farrell declared that winning the series is 'what dreams are made of', while Itoje targeted a whitewash of the Wallabies.
'When we first met, big Faz made the call. He wanted us to come here and win everything,' Itoje said.
'So don't get me wrong, we're absolutely delighted with the result, but we want to go again next weekend.'

Ruben Amorim given unlikely boost to solve Man Utd issue after private transfer talks

Manchester United are considering signing a new goalkeeper before the end of the summer transfer window and their chances of getting one of the world's best have just increased Manchester United are weighing up a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma after Paris Saint-Germain agreed a £34.9million deal to sign a new goalkeeper. Donnarumma, 26, has seen his future plunged into uncertainty after failing to agree a new contract. ‌ The Italy international's current deal with PSG expires next summer and the European champions don't want to lose him for nothing. Luis Enrique's side will therefore listen to offers for Donnarumma after striking an agreement with Lille to sign Lucas Chevalier. ‌ PSG's move could spring United into action, with Ruben Amorim keen on a new goalkeeper of his own. The Red Devils are understood to be interested in Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens, who'd provide competition for Andre Onana. ‌ Although Onana has no plans to leave Old Trafford, the Cameroonian's form has been an issue for Amorim. The United manager even took the 29-year-old out of the firing line towards the end of last season after a string of mistakes. But instead of signing an up-and-coming shot-stopper like Lammens, the vastly experienced Donnarumma could be an option after privately discussing a move to England with his Italy team-mates. French outlet L'Equipe report that as PSG prepare to welcome Chevalier, both United and rivals Manchester City have registered their interest in Donnarumma. Chelsea have also been linked with a move while Galatasaray are said to have gone a step further by making a formal approach. It'd be a surprise if City put their hat in the ring after they struck a £27m deal with Burnley to re-sign James Trafford. The topic of Donnarumma's future was bubbling under the surface as the ex-AC Milan wonderkid helped PSG finally get their hands on the Champions League in May. As recently as last month, Donnarumma confirmed that it was his priority to stay in Paris. "My priority is to stay at PSG, I don't think there will be any problems in the negotiations," Donnarumma told Sky Italia on June 9. "We're a great team." Should Manchester United bid for Gianluigi Donnarumma? Have your say in the comments section. ‌ Napoli have also been linked with Donnarumma but his agent, Enzo Raiola - cousin of the late super agent, Mino - dismissed the speculation by labelling it 'pure fantasy'. "I've an excellent relationship with Director Giovanni Manna at [Napoli], but we've never discussed Gigio," Raiola told Radio CRC via Calciomercato. "He feels good in Paris, we're at the European champion club, so we have no complaints. We are working on a renewal. I have never ruled out interest from the top Italian clubs, but there has never been a negotiation, let's see. ‌ "He is still young, I have to squeeze him for at least another 10 years. At the moment, however, it is very difficult to see Donnarumma in the Italian championship, I'm not just talking about numbers but also about the sporting project. "In Italy, beyond Inter who reached the Champions League final, there are Milan and Juventus who are struggling, they are in the process of reorganising: these factors are fundamental."

Liverpool transfer news: Reds get Alexander Isak boost as key star moves closer to exit

Liverpool may have signed Hugo Ekitike last week but the Premier League champions are still in the running to sign Alexander Isak amid talk the Newcastle star could move this summer Liverpool have already made some big moves in the transfer market this summer, but Arne Slot and Co are not done yet if recent noises anything to go by. ‌ Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike have all been signed up to bolster a squad which won the Premier League title last term. And more incomings are expected between now and the transfer deadline. ‌ The Reds are understood to be keen on signing a centre back after selling Jarrel Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer. ‌ And speculation linking Liverpool with a British record £150million transfer for Alexander Isak simply refuses to go away. Isak boost Eddie Howe has confirmed that there is "no chance" that Arsenal target Alexander Isak will join Newcastle on their pre-season tour of the Far East amid the current speculation over the striker's future. The Swede, 25, has been heavily linked with Liverpool this summer and it emerged last week that he would not be joining Newcastle overseas, with the player keen to explore his options. Speaking after Sunday's 3-2 loss to Newcastle in Singapore, Howe was asked whether the club's star striker would be heading out to join them and replied: 'No, no chance,' indicating that a parting of the ways could indeed be on the cards. Mega deal agreed ‌ Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Luis Diaz. The Colombia winger, 28, has been linked with a move overseas in recent weeks and also had interest from Barcelona. It has also been noted that Diaz is keen on the idea of moving clubs this summer, though Liverpool were reluctant to sell. But The Guardian say Diaz is now close to leaving Liverpool after Bayern lodged a £70m bid for the attacker, who was left out of the team that lost 4-2 to AC Milan on Saturday. ‌ Fofana in Everton talks Liverpool-linked Malick Fofana is now in talks to join Everton from Lyon this summer. The Reds and other of the Premier League's top clubs have been credited with an interest the uber talented winger, who has scored 15 goals in 62 games for Lyon. The Athletic have confirmed that Everton and Lyon are in talks over a package for the 20-year-old with the Toffees also in contact with the player's camp to try and reach an agreement for a transfer. Footy bad boy Jordan De Goey reveals baby joy with his TV star girlfriend Aisha Jade McKinnon

Collingwood star Jordan De Goey has revealed he and partner Aisha Jade McKinnon are expecting their first child, calling the joyful news 'the greatest surprise of them all'. The couple made the big reveal on Instagram, sharing a photo of De Goey's hands cradling McKinnon's baby bump, accompanied by an ultrasound video and a clip of the moment the overjoyed Magpies forward found out he is going to be a dad. 'In the midst of our changing lives we were blessed with the greatest surprise of them all, baby girl coming soon,' read the caption on the post. Their announcement drew congratulatory messages from De Goey's teammates Isaac Quaynor and Mason Cox, as well as Annalise Dalins, the fiancée of Pies star Josh Daicos. McKinnon - who starred on Big Brother and is forging a career in fashion design - made their romance official last October when they attended Collingwood's best and fairest night. The couple have bought a farm together and McKinnon has previously opened up about her man's reputation as a bad boy off the field. The footy glamour couple are due to have a daughter - with the announcement drawing messages of congratulations from other AFL stars De Goey briefly ended up in a New York jail in October 2021 after pleading not guilty to a charge of forcible touching in a New York night club, and he made headlines in 2022 when a video emerged of him touching and exposing a woman's breast at a nightclub in Bali. The 29-year-old was slammed by fans and footy experts when he said he had 'made mistakes' because he has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. 'Late last year, I was diagnosed with ADHD and I am trying to become more aware of why I make mistakes that I do. I have again made a mistake – this is an ongoing journey for me – and I remain absolutely committed to changing,' De Goey said in an official Collingwood statement. He joked that he would have to 'lock himself inside his house to stay out of trouble' before going on to star for Collingwood as they won the premiership in 2023. 'It's sad because I know a very different Jordy,' McKinnon said in December last year. 'He's really lovely. We definitely value our privacy, we connected on that, and we both have unique jobs and support each other.' De Goey has only played five games this year as premiership favourites Collingwood sit atop the ladder. Problems with his Achilles tendon and concussion have kept him out of the AFL since round nine, but he took a big step on Saturday as he played in the VFL.
