Telugu not being given step-motherly treatment: TGBIE
Professors from the Central University submitted a representation to the Director of Intermediate Education, Krishna Aditya, and the Regional Joint Director, Jayaprada Bai, urging that the Telugu language be given its due importance as the second language at the intermediate level in government junior colleges.
Regional Joint Director of Intermediate Education Jayaprada Bai clarified that as part of a recent recruitment conducted by the Telangana Public Service Commission, 10 posts for Sanskrit were filled. To identify which colleges have vacancies and to assess how many students are opting for the subject, the Director of Intermediate Education issued a memo to gather internal information from the principals. This memo was purely administrative in nature and should not be construed as an effort to promote Sanskrit in place of Telugu in Government Junior Colleges.

'I Thank...': Bandaru Dattatreya Reacts As Telangana CM Pitches Him For Next Vice President
Ex-Governor Bandaru Dattatreya thanked Telangana CM Revanth Reddy for suggesting him for VP. Reddy demanded the post for Telangana, citing Telugu as the 2nd most spoken language. Former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya acknowledged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's suggestion to nominate him for the Vice President position, saying, 'I thank all those who think about me." This comes after Reddy on Wednesday demanded that Dattatreya, an OBC leader from Telangana, be made the Vice President of India. He said the post should be given to Telangana as Telugu was the second-most spoken language in the country, and justice to the native speakers must be done. #WATCH | Hyderabad | On Telangana CM Revanth Reddy suggesting his name for Vice President, former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya says, 'I thank all those who think about me." — ANI (@ANI) July 24, 2025 Dhankhar resigned as the Vice President on Monday evening, citing medical reasons. He sent his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu and said he was stepping down with immediate effect. Reddy also termed the resignation of Dhankhar as 'unfortunate". 'The next Vice President should be from Telangana. Telangana deserves its due. You cannot do so much injustice to the people of Telangana. Telugu is the second most spoken language in India after Hindi, and then comes Bengali. Injustice has been done to our people. 'I have demanded that the NDA government appoint Bandaru Dattatreya as the next Vice President of India. If Dattatreya is made the vice president, then some of your sins will be forgiven," news agency PTI quoted the Congress leader as saying. Dattatreya was the Haryana governor from 2019-2021. He was made the governor of Himachal Pradesh in July 2021 and vacated that post on July 21 this year. Reddy said he proposed Dattatreya's name because there is so much talk about OBCs these days, and Dattatreya, an OBC, was removed from the post of governor. He mentioned that Bandi Sanjay was also removed as the BJP president of Telangana, referring to both Dattatreya and Sanjay as prominent representatives of the Telugu OBC community. 'They sent a person of Telugu-speaking person back home from Delhi (referring to former VP M Venkaiah Naidu). Then they removed Bandaru Dattatreya as governor and then removed Bandi Sanjay as Telangana BJP president," said Reddy, attacking the BJP-led Centre. When asked whether the Congress would support Dattatreya's candidature, he said, 'I will try and help Bandaru Dattatreya, and I will also request my leadership to support him too, but the Congress leadership will take a call on it." He further alleged that the country is in danger till the NDA government is in power, and it has to be removed. view comments First Published: July 24, 2025, 15:53 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
