Nick Frost v Tom Felton: How Potter Actors React to J.K. Rowling Controversy
The actors for the original Harry Potter and the upcoming reboot have been asked about their opinions on Rowling, and while some have been very vocal about their disagreement with her, there are some that feel like they're fence-sitting on the issue—one such actor is Tom Felton.
When asked recently about the controversy surrounding Rowling, Felton replied:
Tom Felton says the controversy around J.K. Rowling's political views doesn't impact him: "I'm not really that attuned to it…I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter. She's responsible for that, so I'm incredibly grateful." #TonyAwards pic.twitter.com/T7KSMNbFds

' I'm not really that attuned to it…I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter. She's responsible for that, so I'm incredibly grateful.'
Already, the comments were filled with people saying that Felton is coming out as insensitive to trans issues and that he's 'spineless' for not even saying anything about Rowling.
On the other hand, we have Nick Frost who has been cast as the new Hagrid for the Potter reboot. While he has been getting flak for participating in the reboot in the first place, Frost told The Observer (via Deadline) about his thoughts on Rowling:
'She's allowed her opinion and I'm allowed mine, they just don't align in any way, shape or form.'
Besides that, Frost also adds that the controversy surrounding Potter should invite people to do more of their research when it comes to the issue. He adds, ' But maybe it shouldn't blow over? We shouldn't just hope it will go away, because it makes it easier. Maybe we should educate ourselves.'
Admittedly, I myself needed to do a lot more research on why Rowling has been considered a 'TERF' by the LGBTQ+ community; and while a lot of her statements seem very pro-woman and well-informed, several other sources have proved that things that Rowling are saying aren't backed up by statistics, and they only further the divide when it comes to the understanding of trans people.
For now, no release date has been set for the Potter reboot.

Harry Potter Veteran on the Toxic Reaction to Reboot's New Snape, Paapa Essiedu
Like it or not, current fandom culture is now plagued with all kinds of toxicity whenever a POC actor is announced for a franchise that was dominantly white for a time. It happened with Star Wars , and it's now happening with the Harry Potter reboot with Paapa Essiedu being cast as the new Professor Snape. With so many people complaining about the casting, a Potter vet, Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the original movies, has stepped up to bat for Essiedu. During a talk with Collider at Fans Expo, Isaacs says, ' Paapa Essiedu is one of the best actors I've ever seen in my life. I've seen some people online who are being rude about him. What they're being is racist… All the cast of the new 'Harry Potter' TV series are amazing. They will be swallowing their tongues, hopefully — you know, their digital tongues — when they see what [Paapa] does on screen.' While there are toxic and bigoted reactions to Essiedu getting cast, there are also some concerns on the opposite end of the spectrum where they are worried that casting a black Snape actually has different implications for other characters—specifically Harry's dad who was Snape's bully. Some think it would be hard to root for Harry's dad if he was bullying a black student; but on the contrary, some think that an easy fix for this problem is to make James Potter and the rest of his gang POC to make things… less racist? I guess bullying is more forgivable as long as it's inclusive. We don't know when we'll get a first look at the reboot, but the main trio and adults have already been cast, and production is expected to start very soon. No release date has been set for the Harry Potter reboot, but fans are expecting it to come out sometime next year or early 2027.

M3GAN 2.0 Flops at the Box Office
The first M3GAN movie was such an unexpected hit, and the little killer robot doll became such a hit online—especially with the gay community. With the sequel embracing the gay fanbase, it seemed like the movie was primed for a successful run at Pride Month, but that doesn't seem to be the case. According to Variety, M3GAN 2.0 has promptly failed at the box office, earning only 17 million globally with a budget of 25 million. For context, the first movie managed to earn 45 million globally (eventually getting to 180 million) out of a 12 million budget. We don't know exactly why the sequel didn't manage to bring back the audience from last time, but there are several factors being considered; like the fact that it has to compete with several huge blockbusters like F1 and How to Train Your Dragon . Some also speculate that it has something to do with the shift of the marketing to focus on M3GAN being a sassy 'good' robot now. While I love the switch of genres that's very much like Terminator 2 , some guess that this turned off horror fans in favor of just catering to the LGBTQ+—who was probably just a minority of the audience that loved the original movie. Who knows, maybe the sequel would find new life once it releases on streaming, but for now, it looks like the marketing campaign—while fun—didn't manage to encourage people to actually get tickets and see it in the theater. Such a shame because I was hoping for a trilogy. M3GAN 2.0 is now showing in theaters.

The Social Network is Getting a Sequel
The Social Network from 2010 was a dramatized account of Mark Zuckerberg's rise to power, and is considered to be one of the best films of all time. With Zuckerberg apparently still making waves in the world today, it looks like Aaron Sorkin has decided he wants to keep telling the story of The Social Network. According to Deadline, Sorkin is teaming up with Sony Pictures for The Social Network Part II. It won't be a sequel in the traditional sense, but it is going to delve into the current state of social media—specifically the story behind Wall Street Journal's The Facebook Files by Jeff Horowitz—which explored the inner workings of Facebook and how it eventually caused harm to the public that was using it. Looking back, it is kind of fascinating how Facebook's reputation has changed from back in 2010 to 15 years later. Now social media is the face of misinformation and propaganda, and figures like Zuckerberg and Elon Musk are facing major scrutiny for allowing the muddying of truth to become so mainstream. I'll admit, it is kind of a bummer that Fincher won't be coming back to helm, but he's going to be working on that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel that's said to be written by Quentin Tarantino; plus, Sorkin himself has proven to be a capable director; and we know that his scripts are still going to be great. The question is if Jesse Eisenberg would be willing to reprise the part of Zuckerberg for the film. I mean, they possibly can't move forward without his pasty ass as the lead. No release date has been set for The Social Network Part II.
