Revealed: Princess Cruises to offer round-trip sailings from Southampton in 2027

Independent05-06-2025
UK passengers will have the choice of two Princess Cruises ships sailing from Southampton in 2027.
The cruises are part of 86 itineraries in the UK and Europe, ranging from seven to 46 days and spanning 108 destinations. The cruises went on sale to loyal passengers with Captain's Circle membership status this week.
Sky Princess and Majestic Princess will return to the UK in 2027 to sail round-trip itineraries from Southampton, with 45 departures across the season, compared to 32 in 2026.
Sky Princess will operate northern European and Mediterranean itineraries from March to October 2027, including a 31-night 'Mediterranean Marvel,' which provides a month-long exploration of Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Greece and Malta. Fares start from £2,749 per person.
Majestic Princess, which will sail its first-ever round-trip Southampton season in 2026, will return to the UK in March 2027 to sail the British Isles and northern Europe. Fares start from £1,104 per person for a 12-day British Isles sailing including stops in France and Belfast.
You don't have to worry too much about the British weather either, as Majestic Princess is one of the few ships in the fleet that has an indoor pool.
Beyond UK departures, Caribbean Princess will sail round-trip Copenhagen itineraries for the first time, taking guests to ports of call across the Baltic region, including Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki.
The ship will offer nine 12-night itineraries from May through to August 2027, with fares starting from £1,064 per person.
It will also make a maiden call for the Princess brand in Aberdeen, Scotland, as part of a 16-night 'British Isles and Canadian' transatlantic cruise from Copenhagen, Denmark, to Boston, United States. Guests can enjoy excursions, including spotting the bottlenose dolphins and exploring the Speyside Whiskey Trail.
Princess will also offer two 'Total Solar Eclipse' voyages in 2027, providing the opportunity to view the eclipse from southern Spain during a 14-night Mediterranean cruise on either Enchanted Princess from Rome or Sky Princess from Southampton on August 2, 2027. Both cruises depart July 24, 2027, and fares start from £2,804 per person.
When booking a UK and Europe 2027 voyage before June 30, guests can currently benefit from up to £500 off per cabin.
In addition, Captain's Circle members, which includes anyone who has sailed with Princess at least once, will receive savings of up to £300 per stateroom when booking before June 17.
The 2027 itineraries go on general sale from June 10.
Eithne Williamson, vice president of Princess Cruises UK and Europe, said: 'From castles to coastlines, our 2027 UK and Europe cruise programme provides ample opportunities for guests to explore the continent's rich history and breathtaking landscapes.
'Guests can immerse themselves in thoughtful tourism experiences with our programme, including 100 Unesco World Heritage Sites, and overnight stays in iconic cities like Istanbul and Stockholm, providing even more time for exploration.
'We are delighted to offer Captain's Circle members exclusive savings when booking early, meaning that they can secure the cruise they desire and the stateroom of their choice at a fantastic price.
"With an expansive selection of itineraries, ships and destinations, we're proud to offer something for every type of traveller – whether they're seeking cultural immersion, scenic beauty or relaxing escapes. Hated Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri refusing to sell club for less than £100m in another huge blow

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY owner Dejphon Chansiri still wants a staggering £100m for the troubled club. The Owls are still in debt and face signing restrictions with a reduced squad. 1 Wednesday missed player pay days for two consecutive months in June and July. Earlier this month, SunSport reported that Chansiri owes more than £4million in football debts — which will have to be paid by whoever buys the club. The extent of the cash woes emerged during takeover bids by several groups in the prior weeks. Earlier this month it was reported that US businessman Tilman Fertitta was in talks to buy the crisis club. Fertitta, 68, is the US ambassador for Italy and is an ally of Donald Trump. The businessman also owns the Houston Rockets in the NBA. Wednesday manager Danny Rohl initially did not show up for pre season amid the club's woes. The 36-year-old eventually returned but has had to work with a threadbare squad. The Owls beat Mansfield 2-0 in a training ground friendly yesterday. Club stalwarts Barry Bannan and Callum Paterson did not feature, despite having trained with the Owls in recent weeks. Both players have been out of contract since June 30. It remains to be seen whether Wednesday's sorry situation will have improved by their Championship opener against Leicester City on August 10.

New EastEnders star is a nepo baby as famous family members who have also starred in BBC soap are revealed

Max Murray has landed a role in EastEnders alongside legendary stars but it has now been revealed he comes from a long-line of actors and singers in his family. The youngster has been portraying character Joel Marshall since February this year but it turns out he is actually following in his famous mum's footsteps. Max is the son of actress Gina Murray, who has starred in a number of well known programmes including The Bill, Doctors and The Hunt for Raoul Moat and appeared in the BBC soap back in 2014 playing Helen. Gina's character Helen arrived in Albert Square as a hair specialist to help Carol Jackson, who was struggling with losing her hair as she fought off cancer. It was Helen's role to help Carol find a wig. Max is also the nephew of Mazz Murray, who is a successful TV and theatre actress, starring in Sunset Boulevard, Mamma Mia and Chicago to name but a few. In 2004, Mazz also starred on EastEnders as a waitress called Miranda who had a brawl with Heather Trott and Shirley Carter. The youngster has been portraying character Joel Marshall since February this year but turns out he is actually following in his famous mum's footsteps In 2017, Mazz returned to Walford but this time was playing a character called Julie, who was a divorced woman who hired Keanu Taylor as a male escort for a night of fun and frolics. Max's character Joel is the step-son of Vicky Fowler, who returned to the square for the funeral of her uncle Martin Fowler. Her new boyfriend Ross is played by Alex Walkinshaw. At the time when Max's role was announced, he told the Mirror: 'It's an absolute privilege and honour to be joining such a wonderful production full of a lovely cast and crew. 'I'm really looking forward to introducing Joel to EastEnders viewers and telling his story.' It comes as EastEnders favourite Nicholas Bailey will make a shock return as Dr. Anthony Trueman to the soap, more than a decade since he was last seen in Walford. The character – son of Patrick Trueman (played by Rudolph Walker) – will be back on screens in scenes to air in the summer. Anthony first arrived on the Square in 2000 and quickly made waves, thanks in part to a steamy romance with Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace). Now, 11 years on from his last stint, the GP is set for a dramatic reunion with his dad this summer as Patrick and Yolande prepare to tie the knot. Anthony last appeared in EastEnders in 2014 when he rushed to his father's side when Patrick suffered a stroke. Since then, he has led a life away from Walford but in upcoming scenes viewers will see he is invited to his father's impending nuptials and decides to return for the occasion. In a post on the official Eastenders Instagram account, the long running soap teased the visit to Walford comes at a significant moment for Patrick, which means Anthony stays longer than he originally intended. In a statement, executive producer Ben Wadey said: 'It's great to welcome Nicholas back to the EastEnders family to reunite Patrick with his son. 'But Anthony's plan for a brief return to surprise his father ends up with him staying longer than he expected when he uncovers what has been going on in the Trueman household.' Nicholas who will reprise the iconic role added: 'It is an unexpected treat to return to EastEnders and I'm full of gratitude to get the opportunity to revisit the character of Anthony. 'It's wonderful to work with Rudolph Walker again - he's such a big part of my journey as an actor and I loved filming my first scenes with him after so long.
