Daily Mirror15 hours ago
The One Show presenter Alex Jones has been on the BBC programme for 15 years after making her debut back in 2010.
Back in 2010, Alex Jones stepped into the presenter's chair on The One Show, taking over from Christine Bleakley.

Ever since, BBC audiences have watched her chat with an array of famous faces, from Helen George and Don Warrington to Matt Damon and Catherine Zeta Jones, who recently left viewers utterly stunned.

This month signals Alex's 15th anniversary at the helm of the programme, something she acknowledged during Monday's opening, reports Wales Online.

As the show began, the 48-year-old warmly welcomed back co-host Ronan Keating following his extended absence.
She declared: "Look who is back for one night only, it's lovely Ronan."

He responded: "Alex, thank you, it's good to be back. Especially, as this month marks 15 years of you on this show."
Alex exclaimed: "Stop! Stop, I can't believe it, they're going to send me back any minute."
The Boyzone singer remained tight-lipped as he informed BBC watchers his mouth was zipped, though hinted more details about the anniversary would emerge on Friday's episode.

It appears a special celebration is being planned as the programme's official Instagram account honoured Alex, suggesting bigger things are coming.
The footage featured a collection of the host's moments through the years, spanning from her 2010 debut right up to recent times.

The post read: "15 fabulous years of smiles, stories, and sparkle! Here's to Alex Jones-the heart of The One Show throughout the years! Join The One Show to help celebrate this Friday, August 8th, on BBC One."
The post quickly earned comments, with a host of celebrities praising Alex for her long tenure on The One Show.
Zoe Ball expressed: "Adore you, Al. Happy anniversary. Queen of the green sofa."

Lauren Laverne chimed in with: "Happy anniversary, Queen Al! Xx".
Steph McGovern exclaimed: "LOVE THIS ICON" and Jason Manford added: "You're the best xxx."
The One Show's fans were also swift to comment on the post, with one viewer stating: "Love Alex she is so much fun never know what she is going to say next but a hoot. I love her genuine empathy too she is a communicator a real people person."
Another fan noted, "Amazing presenter, especially during the early days of the pandemic, she kept our spirits up."
The One Show is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Meghan toasts to ‘beautiful day' as she launches new rose wine

The Duchess of Sussex has toasted to a 'beautiful day' to mark the launch of her latest rose wine. Meghan released her As Ever Napa Valley Rose 2024 – described as evoking the same 'soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish' as the 2023 rose – on Tuesday. It comes after the previous rose, launched last month, sold out within an hour. In a video posted on her Instagram, Meghan can be seen uncorking a bottle marked 'Bottle #1' in front of bouquets of pink and cream flowers – followed by close-up of the cork bearing the As Ever logo. Alongside the clip, she wrote: 'Here we go! First bottle off the line! 'Toasting to a beautiful day: Our Napa rose is live @aseverofficial.' As with the previous wine, the beverage is priced at more than £67 for a minimum three-bottle order – and only appeared to be available for US customers to buy, with shipping addresses limited to America. As Ever is Meghan's lifestyle brand which also sells cookie mix, herb tea, flower sprinkles and jams. A post on the company's Instagram show the corks branded with the As Ever logo, with a caption reading: 'C'est l'heure. 'Enjoy your last sips of summer with the newest vintage of our beloved Napa Valley rose.' The website describes the drink as 'thoughtfully curated by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex' and that it has been 'made to be enjoyed with the ones you love'. The pale pink wine, which comes in a clear bottle with a white, gold-rimmed label, has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 13.5% – one percent lower than its predecessor. As with the 2023 rose, the newest wine is not available to buy in orders of less than three bottles. Three bottles cost 90 US dollars (around £67), six bottles cost 159 dollars (around £119) including a 12% discount, and 12 bottles are priced at 300 dollars (around £225) including a 17% discount. Meghan and the Duke of Sussex left the UK and moved to California five years ago for a new life after stepping down from the working monarchy.

Writing online, fans have called for The Repair Shop to be axed after nearly a decade on air. One penned: "Could never see the point of him being in the Repair Shop he never restored anything but worn a new leather apron the show is better without him now." Another added: "Surely you must take the Repair shop off now if the presenter is accused of physical rape." A third queried: "Will the BBC be pulling repeats of The Repair Shop now?" Police confirmed the allegations against the dad of three from Shropshire. He fronted the hit BBC show for seven years before stepping back last year. King Charles appeared alongside him on a special episode in 2022. West Mercia Police confirmed charges against the dad of three, with a magistrates' court date set for next Wednesday. A spokesperson said: 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. Axed TV host Jay Blades was weeks away from starring on new reality series before domestic violence arrest "He is due to appear at Telford magistrates' court on 13 August 2025.' The TV star is currently awaiting trial on a separate charge of controlling and coercive behaviour against estranged wife Lisa-Marie Zbozen, which he has denied. He was arrested in May 2024 - on the same day fitness instructor Lisa announced her decision to end their 18-month marriage. In September, Blades was charged. His actions allegedly caused Lisa 'to fear, on at least two occasions, that violence will be used against her'. The presenter pleaded not guilty to the charge — which relates to the period between January 1, 2023 and September 12, 2024 — at a court hearing last October. As well as fronting The Repair Shop since 2017, Blades also hosted BBC shows including Money For Nothing and Jay Blades' Home Fix.

Gary Lineker 'signs HUGE ITV deal to host new celebrity game show' - after leaving the BBC and Match Of The Day following anti-semitism row

Gary Lineker has reportedly signed a huge deal with ITV to host a brand new celebrity game show - after leaving the BBC earlier this year following an anti-semitism row. The former Match Of The Day presenter, 64, is thought to be returning to Saturday night TV for a new show called The Box. Touted as a replacement for Ant and Dec 's Saturday Night Takeaway, The Box's format sees 12 celebrities all put in a different box where they have to face a terrifying challenge. Already a show in Norway, The Sun reports it has been dubbed as a cross between I'm A Celebrity and SAS: Who Dares Wins. A source told the publication: 'The Box is massive in Norway, and the rights were quickly sold to Denmark and now the UK. ' ITV are really excited about it - and believe they have finally found a worthy successor to Saturday Night Takeaway. 'They have long been sniffing around Gary and just needed to find the right format for him. They're confident they've found that now, and the BBC 's loss is their gain.' The source added that filming will take place in the autumn and it will air in early spring, likely with a Saturday night slot. Gary and ITV have been contacted by MailOnline for comment. Back in May Gary welled up as he delivered his final Match of the Day speech, thanking viewers for their 'love and support' and sending a message to his successors. The presenter was visibly moved by a seven-minute tribute featuring the likes of Pep Guardiola, Virgil van Dijk, Ian Wright, and even Andrea Bocelli. Lineker hosted his final BBC show and hinted at the start that it 'wasn't meant to end this way' after being axed amid an antisemitism row. He was axed after sharing a pro-Palestine Instagram video which featured an emoji of a rat, with critics accusing him of promoting a familiar anti-Semitic slur. He later apologised. At the end of his last show, wrapping up his £1.4million gig, he paid tribute to the wider team, saying: 'Let me take the opportunity to thank all the other pundits I've had the pleasure of working with over the last 25 years. Touted as a replacement for Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway (seen), The Box's format sees 12 celebrities all put in a different box where they have to face a terrifying challenge 'You've made my job so much easier. 'It's been an absolute privilege to host Match of the Day for a quarter of a century. 'It's been utterly joyous. 'I'd like to wish Gabby (Logan), Mark (Chapman), and Kelly (Cates) all the best when they sit in the chair. 'The programme is in the best of hands. 'My final thank you goes to all of you. Thank you for watching. Thank you for all your love and support over the years. It's been so special. I'm sorry that your team was always on last. Time to say goodbye.' Lineker confirmed his departure from the corporation earlier that month. He 'apologised unreservedly' for his actions, saying he was unaware of the meaning of the symbol and added: 'I would never consciously repost anything anti-Semitic – it goes against everything I stand for'. He said that stepping down from his role with the BBC - where he was once the highest paid star - was 'the responsible course of action'.
