Chavez Jr, 12 years Paul's senior, comes into the fight with a record of 54-6-0, winning 34 fights by KO as well as holding the world middleweight title in 2011-12.
However, despite his pedigree, the Mexican has only fought once in the past four years - a decision win over ex-UFC star Uriah Hall in July 2024.

Paul will face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, a highly-decorated former world middleweight champion.
The Mexican, 39, has fought just once in the last four years but has the best boxing resume of any fighter to step into a ring with Paul - bar Mike Tyson, who was aged 58 at the time they fought.

June 29 - Kyle Tucker drilled a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning, the third homer slugged by the Chicago Cubs in that frame en route to a 12-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday in the middle game of a three-game interleague series. Tucker finished 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBIs in his second game against his former club. He spent seven seasons with the Astros before his offseason trade to the Cubs, and he made his presence felt as Chicago set up a series rubber match with a dominant performance. A half-inning after Astros rookie Cam Smith, acquired as part of the package that landed Tucker in Chicago, smacked his second home run of the series, the Cubs responded resoundingly to the 2-1 deficit Smith created with his two-run shot off Cubs right-hander Colin Rea (5-3). Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (1-3) appeared to have steadied the ship following a rocky top of the first when he walked in a run and threw 27 pitches, including 18 for balls. McCullers threw 12 consecutive balls during one stretch in the first inning but retired the Cubs in order in the second and third, and returned for the fourth with a one-run lead in his possession. That lead was short-lived. Michael Busch and Nico Hoerner clubbed back-to-back homers off McCullers to push the Cubs to a 3-2 lead. McCullers, who retired eight consecutive batters after his bases-loaded walk to Busch resulted in a 1-0 deficit, did not escape the fourth. Ian Happ produced an RBI single that extended the lead to 4-2 and set the table for Tucker, who roped a first-pitch slider to right field. His 17th home run plated Reese McGuire and Happ and lifted the Cubs to a 7-2 lead. McCullers departed after Seiya Suzuki tripled to left-center, and allowed eight runs on seven hits and four walks with one strikeout over 3 1/3 innings. Paul Simon, 83, cancels concerts due to 'unmanageable' chronic condition
Paul Simon has been a touring musician since the 1960s—and at 83, he's still hitting the road. But this weekend, the Bridge Over Troubled Water singer was forced to cancel two scheduled shows in Philadelphia due to 'chronic and intense back pain.' Simon shared a statement on Instagram just hours before he was set to perform at the city's historic Academy of Music, informing fans and ticket holders of the cancellation. 'Paul has been struggling with chronic and intense back pain,' the statement read. 'Today it became unmanageable and demands immediate attention. Unfortunately, we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don't have the ability to reschedule them,' the statement continued. 'However, we are hopeful after this minor surgical procedure which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates,' the statement explained. In the end, Simon and Garfunkel's increasing troubled relationship, as friends and working colleagues, led to their breakup in 1970. Paul, who composed nearly all of their original songs, enjoyed a successful career following their split. While they never got back together to record a new album, the duo did reunite for the first time to play a free concert in New York's Central Park in September 1981, attracting some 500,000 people, that at the time was the largest concert ever.
