Nushrratt Bharuccha recalled that she was replaced in a film despite being officially signed for the project for 3 years.
Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha has come a long way in her acting career, but her journey has not been easy. She has seen her fair share of ups and downs. In a recent interview, she recalled a painful experience of being replaced in a film, despite being officially signed for it for 3 years! When asked whether she was replaced by a star kid, she said that her situation was different, and that she was instead replaced by someone who had become the 'flavour of the season', and had recently become popular. The actress revealed that she was shocked and felt cheated, especially because she had remained committed for 3 years, at a time when the film had no director or lead hero!
While speaking with Nayandeep Rakshit, Nushrratt Bharuccha was asked if she was ever replaced by a star kid. She replied, 'Mera thoda alag tha. I was locked. I was the only person signed on that film for 3 years. Film never took off for 3 years. Then finally, everything fell into place. I have a signed contract of that film lying in my house, till date. I will not say the film's name, because I have no interest in discrediting anyone or picking u p a fight. No need. Signed hai. No hero, no director and no producer. I was the only one who was signed. And suddenly the film went on fast track, and we're doing it. They got a good hero, a good director, everything got set up. And they called me and said, 'We don't want to do it with you now.' I said 'what do you mean? I was signed for 3 years!' And I have supported and stood by this film. Even when it had nobody else."
The 'Chhorii 2' actress clarified that she wasn't replaced by a star kid, but by someone who had become popular back then. 'I stood by and supported the subject and the film for three years. I said, for what? But it wasn't a star kid who got cast. It was the flavour of the season that got cast. Somebody who had just become popular. And it was a smarter decision for them to take the more popular name over me at that time. I felt bad but I felt okay, because it was somebody else getting a chance," she said.
When asked if she felt cheated, she replied, 'Of course. I had voiced it and called people and said that if I wasn't locked for it, you had the choice to say 'Nushrratt nahi, koi aur.' Theek hai. No problem. But I was locked. I was signed for 3 years. I still have the contract." She shared that she was initially signed by the presenters and the studio, while the rest of the team — including the director — was brought on board much later. When asked whether the film performed well, she replied, 'Not so much."

Journalists Enact Squid Game Scene To Highlight Bengaluru's Hazardous Footpaths

Last Updated: The individuals were seen running on a damaged footpath while wearing costumes like those worn by the contestants participating in Squid Game. Bengaluru's potholes and traffic woes have frequently made headlines. For the residents, the situation seems to remain the same despite repeated complaints. In a bid to highlight the hazardous potholes in the city, some Bengaluru residents and journalists staged a unique protest, inspired by Netflix's popular South Korean series, Squid Game. In a video circulating on X, the individuals were seen running on a damaged footpath while wearing costumes like those worn by the contestants participating in Squid Game. The show revolved around a group of cash-strapped people competing in a series of challenges inspired by children's games, which soon got dangerous. The clip was shot near St John's Hospital with the aim to highlight the hazardous conditions pedestrians face in one of the city's busiest areas. In the video, one of the residents slips and almost falls into a pothole. The caption read, 'It's Skid game for Namma Bengaluru Journalists." One account wrote, 'Bangalore is the worst city to live in. We need a lot of work to be done to make it world class." A comment read, 'Bravo Bengaluru's footpaths are a mess and the roads are full of potholes — the situation is terrible. Respect to all the volunteers who took this different approach to highlight the issues to BBMP. Hopefully, BBMP takes action and fixes them now." In a similar incident earlier, residents in the Jayanagar area of Bengaluru expressed their disappointment in a unique way. To protest against the hazardous road conditions, they performed puja to a particularly troublesome pothole on Varamahalakshmi Vratham day. In the video, a woman and a man are seen performing a ritual at the edge of a large, water-filled pothole. It shows that they are offering flower petals, turmeric powder and kumkum to the pothole. view comments First Published: July 26, 2025, 07:00 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Sandeep Reddy Vanga Confirms Prabhas, Triptii Dimri's Spirit Begins Filming This September

Last Updated: Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga confirms Prabhas, Triptii Dimri's Spirit starts filming in September with back-to-back schedules. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has officially confirmed that his much-anticipated film Spirit, starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, will begin shooting in September 2025. The announcement came during a recent chat with Vijay Deverakonda and filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri on the Sithara Entertainments YouTube channel. Sandeep revealed that Spirit will have back-to-back schedules and a non-stop shooting plan once it hits the floors. Spirit made headlines earlier this year when Deepika Padukone exited the project following disagreements over working hours and compensation. Reports suggested that Deepika was advocating for a strict eight-hour workday, a demand that could not be accommodated by the production team. Following her exit, Triptii Dimri was roped in to play the female lead opposite Prabhas. According to reports by Rangasthalam, Sandeep has already completed the musical compositions for Spirit in collaboration with composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar. Backed by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, Spirit is one of the most awaited action dramas in Indian cinema and is expected to hit theatres in 2027. The film reportedly presents Prabhas in a never-seen-before avatar, adding to fans' excitement. Earlier, a source close to the project revealed, 'Sandeep Reddy Vanga wants to shoot for Spirit in a certain way and has requested Prabhas to acquire a lean physique. The idea is to ensure most stunts are performed by Prabhas himself. The Rebel Star is excited about the challenge and is working closely with Sandeep to mold himself into the character." After wrapping up Spirit, Sandeep will begin scripting Animal Park, the much-anticipated sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Animal. With high expectations riding on Spirit, fans are eagerly awaiting to see what cinematic magic Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas will bring to the screen.
