Edi Gathegi Says Mister Terrific Isn't Exactly Superman's BFF - 'He's a Little Grumpy' — GeekTyrant
In James Gunn's upcoming Superman , we've got the strongest man alive, the most dangerous villain in the world, and, according to Edi Gathegi, the smartest guy in the room, and he's not particularly impressed by either of them. While the trailers have already teased some tension within the new Metropolis-based 'Justice Gang,' Gathegi is making it clear that his version of Mister Terrific has layers, and not all of them play nice with Clark Kent's idealism. Gathegi said during an on-set interview with ComicBook. 'Superman thinks that Mister Terrific is his BFF. That's not true. [Mister Terrific] thinks he's a herb. They are brothers in fighting crime. They're brothers in being heroes. But they don't have a lot in common.' David Corenswet's Superman may be the heart, and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor the threat, but Mister Terrific, aka Michael Holt, is all about the brain. In the comics, Holt's a polymath, an Olympic athlete, and the founder of a cyberwear empire. And in this version of Superman, he's also... kind of cranky. 'Our version of Mister Terrific is a little more complex in the sense that he's battling other demons that pepper out. So he's a little grumpy in this film,' That grumpiness shows up in the footage too, like in one moment from the trailer, where he yells at a weary Superman, 'Quit messing around,' only for Supes to weakly mutter back, 'I'm doing important stuff.' Despite that little bit of playful friction, Mister Terrific seems to be a key player in the battle against Lex Luthor and his dangerous new alliances, including Ultraman and Engineer. When it comes to a battle of wits between Holt and Luthor, Gathegi teases there's a real showdown happening behind the action. 'In a sense, there is a battle of the brains. He's a genius, and if you want to know who wins this battle, you have to watch the film.' Mister Terrific is bringing his own complicated energy, a fair amount of scowling, and possibly the smartest moves in the movie. Just don't expect him to start trading friendship bracelets with Superman anytime soon.

Friends star to lead cast of TV show based on 'best autobiography ever written'
A 'heartbreaking' and 'hilarious' memoir by a Nickelodeon child star is about to be turned into an Apple TV series - and a Friends legend will star. I'm Glad My Mom Died, released in 2022, was penned by Jennette McCurdy who shot to fame in 2007's iCarly after a number of smaller roles. She later starred in spin-off show Sam & Cat alongside Ariana Grande. The book quickly rose up the charts following its release with McCurdy praised for her candid and witty writing. The autobiography goes into great detail about the young star's abuse at the hands of her mother and the trauma she endured in her pursuit of an acting career. READ MORE: ITV Love Island 2025 boys line-up in full including ages, jobs and Instagram handles READ MORE: Love Island winners get 'yearly gift' and thanks to a show icon we now know what it is She told Entertainment Weekly ahead of its release: "It was important for me to explore the emotional and psychological abuse I endured during my time as a young performer. "I feel I didn't have the tools, language, or support necessary to speak up for myself back then, so this book is a way for me to not only honor that experience and give voice to my former self, but hopefully to encourage young people to speak up for themselves in environments where they may be conditioned to just 'play ball' and 'be a good sport'." Now a 10-part series inspired by the memoir has been announced by Apple TV. Described as a dramedy, the series will star The Morning Show and Friends legend Jennifer Aniston in an as-yet undisclosed role. Aniston is also co-producing the project, while McCurdy will write, produce and showrun. Fans have flocked to social media to share their thoughts on the announcement, with one penning: "Jennette's book was so heartbreaking and brutally honest but essential reading. Fingers crossed this show does the book justice." A second fan shared: "This is going to be a lot to watch but I'm happy for Jennette if this is what she truly wants to do." Meanwhile a third added: "I don't like that it's 'inspired by' and not 'based on'. I hope they don't mess up the story." Avid readers have given the autobiography a near-perfect score on book review site Goodreads, and the title was even crowned 'Readers' Favourite Memoir & Autobiography' in the 2022 Goodreads Choice Awards, alongside its status as a New York Times bestseller. A release date is yet to be announced for I'm Glad My Mom Died
