Richmond star Tom Lynch was fined twice and faces up to five weeks on the sidelines for his MCG tantrum after being sent straight to the tribunal.
Lynch was reported for striking Adelaide defender Jordan Butts off the ball following a contest between the pair during which he made contact with the head of the Crows defender after a wild swing with his arm.
But while the blow glanced off Butts' head, Lynch could still face a hefty ban after being charged with intentional conduct, with severe impact and high contact.
The premiership winner also was handed two fines totalling more than $4600, one for engaging in a melee and another for striking.

Lynch apologised to his teammates and had some sympathy from his coach, Adem Yze, but he was also told there were few excuses for his behaviour.
'He apologised to the group because he knew he let them down just by letting it spill over,' Yze said.
'... he's been such a good player at this footy club for a long time.
'He's got white-line fever, and he wants to win.'
'I was going to address it, a couple of reverse free kicks, which was just pure frustration and showing that he cares,' Yze said.
'For him to talk to the group before I even had a chance to talk to them, and then almost put his heart on his sleeve in front of the group, was exactly why he's been the player that he is.'
Lynch said the incident was the result of 'frustration' after being manhandled by Adelaide defenders in the mammoth loss.
'I didn't want to cause harm or anything like that. I was just trying to get free or whatever and frustration came out,' Lynch told Seven.
'Clearly … I gave away too many free kicks and it is not good enough as a leader. I thought we were playing pretty well in that second quarter and I pretty much stopped the momentum.

Qualified runner Basilinna starts build up to 2025 Melbourne Cup

Knight's Choice and Prince Of Penzance showed Pakenham trainer Emma-Lee Browne that anything is possible in a Melbourne Cup. Shock wins have bobbed up throughout Melbourne Cup history with Prince Of Penzance and Knight's Choice stunning the racing world in recent history. 'I think often a story like that comes up through the Melbourne Cup and we've seen it a few times before with Prince Of Penzance and all those types,' Browne, who trains Basilinna in partnership with her husband David, said. 'Anything can happen can't it?' Basilinna is a $67 chance in early Melbourne Cup betting but she has a crucial advantage over many of her higher-rated rivals. She has a guaranteed spot in the Melbourne Cup field, should she make it to the first Tuesday in November, courtesy of her win in the Listed Andrew Ramsden at Flemington in the autumn. Basilinna went to the spelling paddock after that win for a break but has returned to the Brownes' Pakenham stable to begin the road to the Melbourne Cup. 'We're in quite a good position already having that guaranteed spot but she's back in now and she did super well in her spell,' Emma-Lee Browne said. 'She went out a very happy horse and they always do well when they go out happy.' Browne said Basilinna was likely to take the proven weight-for-age path to the $8m event but that would entail racing over shorter distances early in her campaign. She said the camp had not picked a first-up assignment for the rising five-year-old but the aim was to keep Basilinna happy during the long preparation. 'Last prep, she thrived through the whole thing so hopefully that will repeat it,' Browne said. 'We'll probably start her off a bit shorter this time. 'We started her off straight up at 2000m last time in but we'll start her in shorter races, just trying to keep her happy and hitting the line. 'They will probably be a bit short for her but she's probably at that level now where weight-for-age races will probably provide the path.' However, the Brownes have no control over their biggest wish for Melbourne Cup Day. 'The wet track really helped her as she does seem to find another gear on those wet tracks,' she said. 'We'll be hoping it rains in November.'

Man who alleges Kiama MP Gareth Ward sexually assaulted him approached media: court

A man who alleges Kiama MP Gareth Ward sexually abused him when he was a teenager approached media because he wanted to 'get the story out', a court has been told. The NSW independent MP was charged in March 2022 with three counts of assault with act of indecency, an alternative charge of common assault against an 18-year-old man at Meroo Meadow in 2013, and intercourse without consent against a 24-year-old man in Potts Point in 2015. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. Mr Ward sat in the docks at the Darlinghurst District Court on Tuesday as his criminal trial before Judge Kara Shead SC continued. The second complainant, a man, who had just turned 18 at the time of the alleged assault at Mr Ward's South Coast home in February 2013, finished giving evidence on Friday. His girlfriend, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the court on Tuesday that the man told her that Mr Ward had 'touched him inappropriately' and had 'put his hands down his pants'. 'He was very uncertain about how he should go about seeking help … he didn't know if he should contact police, he was worried about the extent to which that would lead to,' she said. 'He discussed talking to the media and keeping himself anonymous just to get some information out.' The woman said the complainant had reached out to a YouTube personality with his story. 'He wanted to get the story out to the media but he didn't necessarily want his name associated, but he wanted the information to get out because he was worried about other people,' she said. However, after discussing the matter with the YouTube personality, the man ultimately decided it was best to go to the police, the woman told the court. 'I remember saying that he would have a better opportunity with the police given they have resources and that if other people had experienced something similar that they could get help as well,' she said. The court was earlier told how Mr Ward had met the alleged victim three months prior to the alleged assault and they became friends. On the night in question, the complainant had been at a party in the Shoalhaven area before leaving and getting in contact with Mr Ward, who invited him over to his Meroo Meadow home and offered to pay for his taxi ride. The court was told the then-18-year-old and Mr Ward continued drinking together at his home before the teen went outside and laid on the grass, pretending he had passed out as a 'prank'. The man alleged Mr Ward was trying to get his attention and put both hands on him, then without warning put his hand down his pants and touched his buttocks. He told the court he 'froze' and alleged he remembered Mr Ward's 'heavy breathing' as the politician moved his hand to the then teenager's genital area. The man said he then told Mr Ward that he wanted to go to sleep and the pair went back inside, with the politician allegedly telling him that he should not sleep alone. Mr Ward allegedly directed the man towards the MP's bedroom, where the man laid face down on the bed. The alleged victim told the court that Mr Ward 'mounted' him and sat on his buttocks, then started to massage his back. The man told the court the massage eventually ended and they went to sleep. The man said he and Mr Ward maintained contact on a 'social level' before the alleged acts were reported to police in November 2020. It is also alleged Mr Ward sexually assaulted another man – who was 24 years old at the time – at his Potts Point apartment in September 2015. Beginning his political career in 2011, Mr Ward was a councillor on the Shoalhaven Council before becoming the Liberal member for Kiama in 2011, a seat he has held since. The trial before a 15-person jury continues.

West Coast veteran Dom Sheed will forever be remembered for his 2018 grand final goal after announcing his retirement

West Coast veteran Dom Sheed, the man who broke the hearts of millions of Collingwood supporters in the 2018 AFL grand final, has announced his retirement. Sheed had nearly 2000 kicks across his 165 game career, but none more important than his last-gasp goal at the MCG which propelled the Eagles to a stunning five-point victory. His goal from the boundary, which put the Eagles in front having trailed by two points when he took the kick, was one of 32 disposals in arguably the best game of a career which stalled in recent seasons due to injuries. 'It has been an absolute privilege to represent the West Coast Eagles, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity this great footy club gave a skinny kid from Kalgoorlie,' Sheed said. 'To play for the Club I grew up supporting has been a dream come true, but the relationships you build and memories you share from footy are what I will cherish most from my time in the game. 'There are so many people I would like to thank for helping me along the journey, first and foremost my amazing family. 'It hasn't always been easy. There's been plenty of ups and downs, and to finish up without being able to play alongside the boys this year due to injury has been tough. 'But my family have been there for me every step of the way, and I can't thank my parents and my wife Brooke enough. Dom Sheed, iconic ðŸ† — AFL (@AFL) July 1, 2025 'There are too many other people to name – coaches, teammates and staff - who I will get around to thank in the coming days and weeks. 'But I want to take the opportunity to send a special shout out to the members and supporters. 'I honestly believe West Coast has the most passionate fans in the AFL and they have supported me every step of the way, so thank you for everything.' Sheed, 29, managed just 24 games over the past three seasons, including only eight this year, but will be forever remembered as a grand final hero for Eagles fans. He was on the end of a play started by an intercept mark from teammate Jeremy McGovern, who has been forced into medical retirement due to concussion. It leaves Liam Ryan, who delivered the ball to Sheed, as the only player who was part of that play still active on the Eagles' list. Sheed was taken at pick 11 in that year's draft and made his AFL debut as a sub in round one 2014.
