'I will get you fired': Edison Chen's alleged threat to Japan Airlines attendant
Hong Kong artiste Edison Chen allegedly threatened to make a flight attendant lose her job while on a flight between Tokyo and New York on June 1.
On the Japan Airlines (JAL) flight, the attendant had reportedly allowed another Japanese passenger to disembark before Chen, leading him to retort: 'Why do you want me to move for this man while I'm getting my bag? Because he's a VIP. I'm sorry, can you read (the boarding pass) again? Tell me what that says. Well, is there something about diamond (class)?'
According to a Xiaohongshu user who uploaded his account of the incident on social media, Chen was retrieving his baggage from the overhead compartment when passengers hurried him forward. The female flight attendant then reportedly told Chen that the Japanese passenger was a 'JMB Diamond member' who would be entitled to priority disembarkation, ahead of him.
JMB Diamond, which Chen also holds, is the highest membership tier in JAL's FLY ON programme.
The Dead Or Alive 2: Birds (2000) actor reportedly demanded a complaint form and said that he would make sure the flight attendant loses her job.
Hong Kong online media Dimsum Daily reported that Chen's manager is currently in talks with Chen and JAL to address the incident.
Chen was previously embroiled in a sex scandal in 2008 after photos of him engaging in intimate acts with Hong Kong artistes such as Cecilia Cheung and Gillian Chung were leaked online. The scandal resulted in him leaving the entertainment industry for 16 years, before he returned to perform as part of the music group 3Cornerz at pop culture carnival ComplexCon Hong Kong in 2024.
Chen has been married to Chinese supermodel Qin Shupei since 2007, and they have an eight-year-old daughter Alaia.

Weddings and wellness at Grand Hyatt Singapore

THE STORY OF GRAND HYATT Singapore dates back to 1970, when it was lauded as South-east Asia's largest hotel. But for all its accolades, it prides itself most on the connections it has made with its guests over the years, especially its reputation as a 'venue for love', says June Choong, its director of events. Now that the hotel has completed a major refurbishment, that connection continues to be strong, she adds. 'For decades, we have been honoured to host the weddings of the siblings, cousins and even children of the couples who previously celebrated their own special day with us. 'Many of our long-serving colleagues have also walked hand-in-hand with families through multiple milestones, becoming part of their story.' Grand Hyatt Singapore prides itself on its reputation as a 'venue for love', says the hotel's director of events, June Choong. PHOTO: GRAND HYATT SINGAPORE The hotel marks its own new milestone with its multiyear makeover, layering its 55-year heritage with Singapore's garden narrative. The recent transformation 'enhances the wedding experience while preserving' the features couples have loved for years, says Choong. The Grand Ballroom's 6-m-high ceilings can accommodate tall floral decor. PHOTO: GRAND HYATT SINGAPORE 'What truly elevates the experience are the newly introduced offerings that complement the celebration – from reimagined restaurants and bars perfect for pre-wedding dinners or post-wedding brunches, to beautifully renovated suites and guestrooms that provide comfort and sophistication,' she adds. 'New gardens and lifestyle venues also offer picturesque backdrops for photography, adding more moments worth capturing.' Planning a wedding can be stressful, but the hotel's new integrated wellness destination, Damai – fronted by the lush garden – can turn the pressure into peace. 'At Grand Hyatt Singapore, we believe every wedding journey should be as restorative as it is celebratory,' says Choong. That is why the hotel's wedding packages highlight a 90-minute, full-body classic massage for two at Damai. The revitalising session can be extended with time in the salt steam room or infrared sauna. Damai can turn the pressure of wedding planning into peace. PHOTO: CHANTAL ARNTS At Damai, designed by Japanese studio NAO Taniyama & Associates, specialised treatments such as skin-rejuvenating facials, guided breathwork and movement sessions at the first and only Mind Body Therapy wall in a Singapore hotel will leave couples feeling and looking their best on their special day. Damai shares a garden view with Oasis, making it ideal for al fresco, barbecue-themed dinners or post-wedding brunches. The nearby garden, with its quaint arbours and clusters of outdoor seats, beckons after-meal strolls. Eating well continues the feel-good factor, and the lauded Le Pristine Singapore fits the bill for small pre- and post-wedding gatherings in a high-design environment, featuring artworks by Rotganzen, Sabine Marcelis and Rinus Van de Velde handpicked by chef Sergio Herman. Grand Hyatt Singapore offers four ballrooms to choose from. PHOTO: GRAND HYATT SINGAPORE The hotel's other culinary institutions, beloved for generations, offer more familiar spaces for small gatherings. There is Pete's Place for relaxed Italian cuisine; 10|Scotts for cosy, cocktail-style dining; and StraitsKitchen, one of the few fully halal-certified hotel restaurants in Singapore. For the ceremony, Grand Hyatt Singapore offers four ballrooms to choose from. In the Grand Ballroom – the most spectacular of the lot – 6-metre-high ceilings offer ample room to show off tall, dramatic floral decor. When the partying is done and dusted, newlyweds ought to return to Damai to rest and reconnect. PHOTO: GRAND HYATT SINGAPORE And when the partying is done and dusted, Choong recommends a return to Damai. 'For those extending their stay, Damai provides a tranquil environment to rest and reconnect.' This sets the tone for the next step after the wedding – the honeymoon. The spa's Recovery programme is a good choice following the festivities – the 120-minute experience includes infrared heat and LED light therapy to boost the metabolism, rejuvenate the skin, aid muscle recovery, and reduce fatigue. With Grand Hyatt Singapore, couples can start married life on a refreshed and peaceful note. PHOTO: GRAND HYATT SINGAPORE 'Additional experiences such as private yoga or meditation, access to the vitality pool and relaxation lounge, and treatments designed for deep renewal offer newlyweds a chance to begin their next chapter feeling centred, recharged and well-cared for,' says Choong. 'It's a perfect way to start married life – on a refreshed and peaceful note.'

Love is in the air at Pan Pacific Orchard

IMAGINE THIS SCENARIO: YOU'RE INVITED to a wedding in the city and your view is one of azure sky, drifting snow-white clouds, and a lush tropical landscape. This is the Cloud Terrace, high above the streets of Orchard Road. Poised on the 18th storey of Pan Pacific Orchard, this landscaped outdoor space is where guests can mingle before entering the Claymore Ballroom – the highest ballroom in Singapore. The building, designed by award-winning Woha Architects, has become an iconic landmark, with the Cloud Terrace as its crown. The other terraces are located in 'voids' cut into the striking orthogonal structure. Jason Leung, general manager of Pan Pacific Orchard, points out that this is the hotel's most celebrated quality, offering 'a rare blend of nature, architecture and elevated hospitality across four open-air terraces – Forest, Beach, Garden and Cloud'. On the 11th floor, the Garden Terrace is another special location for wedding ceremonies. A gargantuan, greenery-wrapped column and a massive mirrored ceiling reflecting the wedding festivities beneath accent this capacious venue. The Garden Terrace. PHOTO: PAN PACIFIC ORCHARD 'Each wedding venue is intentionally designed to offer beauty, versatility and emotional impact, whether couples are planning an intimate solemnisation or a large-scale celebration,' Leung says. Sign Up Sign Up For instance, the Claymore Ballroom, while providing a traditional large-scale setting, is special due to its elevated location – most enclosed hotel ballrooms are typically on the ground floor with the reception areas. The hotel's culinary team can help couples craft bespoke wedding menus. PHOTO: PAN PACIFIC ORCHARD 'With floor-to-ceiling windows framing panoramic city views, the ballroom is filled with natural light in the day and looks out to a glittering skyline at night,' says Leung. In contrast, the Chairman's Lounge offers utmost privacy and intimacy. The private dining space serves up exquisite Chinese cuisine for pre-wedding meals, and is suited for solemnisations and tea ceremonies. These thoughtfully crafted spaces mean the wedding possibilities at Pan Pacific Orchard are limitless. The nearly 12,000 square metres of greenery across the four themed terraces give the hotel the ambience of a secret garden – right behind the shopping street, but away from traffic bustle, and featuring pockets of vertical gardens. To fully indulge in the hotel's best offerings, couples can select the Pristine or Euphoria wedding package. PHOTO: PAN PACIFIC ORCHARD This uniqueness inspired six wedding themes for 2025 and 2026 that the couples can choose from. These include Enchanting I and II, which comprise eight-course Chinese or four-course Western menus, champagne toasts and other perks. To fully indulge in the hotel's best offerings, couples can select the Pristine or Euphoria wedding package and enjoy two nights' stay at either the Garden Terrace Suite or Cloud Terrace Suite. Pan Pacific Orchard is dedicated to crafting a personalised experience for its clients. PHOTO: PAN PACIFIC ORCHARD Of course, the team at Pan Pacific Orchard tailors these packages to suit each couple. 'We love working closely with each couple to personalise their big day – whether it's transforming the venue for a specific theme, accommodating cultural traditions, or creating a menu that tells their story,' says Leung. For architecture buffs, choosing Pan Pacific Orchard for their celebration means a rare chance to wed in a world-famous building – since opening in June 2023, Pan Pacific Orchard has received numerous accolades, including the Prix Versailles World Selection title for Most Beautiful Hotel. But it is not just the prized architecture that takes the cake – the hotel's statement biophilic architecture means that couples need not travel far to have a 'destination wedding'.
