Jelena Dokic goes public with new romance as the identity of her mystery man is finally revealed

Daily Maila day ago
Former Australian tennis champion Jelena Dokic has gone Instagram official with her new boyfriend Yane Veselinov.
The 42-year-old sports commentator shared a loved-up photo of herself and Yane to social media on Monday alongside a sweet caption.
Jelena gushed over her man, writing: 'You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place. So glad I found you.'
Little is known about Yane, who is a Hospitality Operations Manager but his Instagram bio describes him as a 'food and wine enthusiast, pleasure seeker and life enjoyer.'
Many of Jelena's followers flocked to the comments to express their excitement over her relationship news.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, .
'Oh YAYYYYYY!!!! So happy for you xxxx you deserve all the joy and happiness life has to offer,' one person wrote.
'This is so amazing, so happy for you beautiful,' another said while a third added: 'So happy for your happiness - you deserve this love.'
It comes after the couple were seen cuddling up at Melbourne airport back in May.
Jelena was seen exiting her flight and grinning broadly as she accepted a warm embrace from her bearded man as she entered the terminal.
Late last year, Jelena revealed she has been 'closed off' to finding love ever since she split from her long-time Brazilian boyfriend Tin Bikic.
The couple were together for almost 19 years before announcing they had ended their relationship in 2021.
Despite saying that her walls have been up ever since, Jelena took to Instagram to make the heartbreaking admission that she's 'scared of being alone' for the rest of her life.
'Love. It's been a challenging personal period. We don't talk about this enough but relationship breakdowns are so tough,' she said alongside a selfie.
'And if you have been the one left hurt or abandoned then let's be honest, it's just life shattering. And as you get older, it only gets tougher with more scars, pain and hurt.
'My 19-year relationship ended 4 years ago and while we will always care for each other especially because we were together since we were 20, that chapter is over.'
Jelena went on to say that she was 'built' to love one person 'unconditionally and so fully that it gets me in trouble'.
'It turns into heartbreak and pain,' she bemoaned. 'I put up walls 4 years ago and I said they are never coming down.
'But as life likes to show us, not everything we plan or think will happen actually does. So, of course, someone brought those walls down and I got hurt. Badly.
'So, I guess the question is: Do we keep our walls down and hope love comes along? Or do we never give it a chance again and don't allow the walls to come down?
'There are people that will have different answers. I have now been alone and closed off for 4 years and I still don't know what the answer is.'
The Australian tennis commentator said she now has 'a lot of abandonment issues' from her past, which make her 'feel like I will be alone forever'.
Jelena was referring to the horrendous abuse she suffered at the hands of her father and tennis coach Damir Dokic.
'Am I the only one scared of being alone for the rest of my life?' the media personality candidly asked her fans.
'Bringing walls down has also brought some feelings and triggers I never had before and I don't know how to react or what to do,' Jelena continued in the lengthy missive.
'Bottom line is it's tough and what do we do? Close ourselves off forever or get hurt and feel pain in order to one day maybe feel that unbelievable and crazy love again?''
Jelena ended her searching questions by saying she had come down on the side of hope and openness.
'I will never give up and one day those walls will come down again and hopefully the wait, pain, hurt and disappointment will be worth it and I will find that amazing love,' she said.
Jelena was left 'shattered' in the aftermath of her split from her long-time boyfriend Tin Bikic in 2021, revealing last year how heartbroken she was.

Isla Fisher, 49, is absolutely glowing as she steps out at Wimbledon with her older brother after finalising her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen

Isla Fisher is enjoying a new lease on life after finalising her divorce from ex-husband Sacha Baron Cohen. The Australian actress, 49, looked radiant as she stepped out at Wimbledon in London on Sunday with her older brother Daniel at the Champagne Lanson event at Agapanthus Suite. Isla opted for a cream ensemble which included a blouse worn under a blazer and a matching pleated midi-skirt. The star added a pair of white leather high heels in a patent finish and sported a pair of designer sunglasses, while carrying a wicker purse. Daniel coordinated with Isla, wearing a white shirt with a cream suit and a pair of trainers. He completed the look with a floral tie and like the actress, had on a pair of sunglasses. The duo stuck close together at the event, and were also seen arriving together with Isla walking a little in front of her pal. Isla was also the picture of happiness last week as she stepped out looking glamorous in a busty floral dress for day one of the Wimbledon Championships. The Australian actress couldn't wipe the smile off her face, looking radiant in a Monique Lhuillier lemon-printed corseted dress worth $4,703 AUD. Isla and her ex-husband Sacha, 53, announced they had finalised their £120 million (approximately $250 million AUD) divorce on June 14. In a message posted simultaneously on both their Instagram sites, the pair said: 'Our divorce has now been finalised. The star added a pair of white leather high heels in a patent finish and sported a pair of designer sunglasses, while carrying a wicker purse 'We are proud of all we've achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children. 'We ask for the media to continue to respect our children's privacy.' Sacha and Isla first met in 2001 and married in 2010. They were believed to have one of the strongest marriages in showbusiness before quietly separating in 2023. They then publicly announced their break-up in April 2024, and it now appears they have amicably resolved any differences. A source said: 'It's all sorted. Now Sacha and Isla both just want to get on with the rest of their lives and focus on their family's well-being.' The couple - who have three children together - first met at a party in Sydney, Australia, in 2001. Speaking of their first encounter, Sacha recalled quickly noticing Isla was 'hilarious'. He remembered: 'We were at a very pretentious party, and me and her bonded over taking the mick out of the other people at the party.' 'I knew instantly. I don't know if she did,' he added. The pair announced their separation last year with a picture of themselves wearing tennis whites. They confirmed in an accompanying message: 'After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down.' Speaking earlier this year of their break-up, Isla said: 'It's the most difficult thing that I've been through and I've learnt so much about myself in the process. 'I never imagined my family being separated but we are committed and loving parents.'

Aussie model Erin Holland sports bizarre oversized jacket as she mingles with A-listers at Fantastic Four premiere in Sydney

turned heads on Tuesday night, but perhaps not for the reasons she'd hoped. The Aussie model, who won Miss World Australia in 2013, attended the Fantastic Four: First Steps premiere in Sydney, which saw Hollywood heavyweights Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn take to the blue carpet. However, the 36-year-old's outfit of choice sent tongues wagging at the glitzy event. A lady in red, Erin put on a leggy display in a tiny cherry-coloured frock, designed by Aussie brand Khirzad Femme. Over the dress, she bizarrely layered a cropped blazer, which boasted large shoulder pads and sleeves that were so long, they hid her hands completely. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She matched the eye-catching ensemble with a red purse and a metallic pair of sky-high heels. Erin wore her signature brunette locks in waves across one shoulder and opted for rosy cheeks and a matching pink lip for the occasion. Beloved A-lister Pedro wowed as he arrived for the Sydney premiere of his new film while looking dapper in a sheer shirt. The 50-year-old American actor, also known for his roles in The Last of Us and The Mandalorian, posed alongside his co-stars while promoting their new Marvel movie. Turning heads in a chic but classic ensemble, Pedro chose a well-tailored white shirt in a semi-sheer fabric, with panels at the front, worn partially unbuttoned. The star added a pair of black trousers with flared hems and leather dress shoes, as well as reading glasses. Pedro laughed and larked about with his co-stars as the foursome hammed it up in front of the media wall. Vanessa, 37, was showing off her baby bump in a sheer black dress that had exaggerated, textured bell sleeves. The heavily pregnant Crown actress added a crop top under her see-through gown, which also featured solid black skirting. She completed the look with see-through black high heels, as well as adding a number of chunky rings and earrings for accessories. Vanessa chose a clean and peachy make-up look with a pale coral lipstick and slicked her blonde hair off her face into a low ponytail. Joseph, 31, who rose to international fame playing Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, was on trend in a navy blue ensemble. The British actor wore a royal blue satin shirt underneath his well-fitted suit, to which he added patent dress shoes. Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays The Thing in the upcoming film, opted for slate tones for his suit. The American actor, 48, added a dark shirt under his fashionable blazer, and was seen giggling with his co-stars as they posed on the blue carpet at the event. The four stars of the hotly-anticipated comic book adaptation were seen arriving in Australia this weekend ahead of the premiere. Beloved A-lister Pedro wowed as he arrived for the Sydney premiere of his new film while looking dapper in a sheer shirt The film marks the latest reboot of Marvel's iconic superhero team and is one of the studio's most anticipated releases in years. In February, Marvel fans were delighted to see the first-look trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. They took to social media to give their opinions on the latest instalment of the superhero franchise, with one person writing on X: 'Okay the Fantastic Four trailer wasn't bad. I'm pleasantly surprised.' Another added: 'I'm not even a Fantastic Four fan, but this looks really sleek. It's nailing the period setting in the same way that First Avenger did.' Someone else weighed in: 'Watched the Fantastic Four trailer and I actually am excited for a Marvel movie again.' And another social media user described the Fantastic Four comic series as 'the only ones I've been able to stomach,' adding, 'The trailer looks so great. I need this.' 'I've felt a little burnt out on superheroes but Fantastic Four are my ride or die,' one fan revealed. 'I'm so happy the movie looks good.' Others praised the teaser for its 'nostalgic' feel and for looking 'very cinematic.'

‘I wish I'd enjoyed my fame a bit more': Jim Sturgess on regrets, romance and the art of the mix tape

Like all good love stories, this one starts with a chance meeting and ends with a reunion. It was 2008, pre-Hardy and Hiddleston, post-Bale and Grant; Jim Sturgess was a rising star and the latest handsome young Brit to break Hollywood. Having landed the lead role in casino thriller 21, Sturgess needed a love interest: cue a slew of chemistry tests with a roll call of beautiful young women, a process Sturgess remembers now as 'the most exposed blind date you could ever possibly put yourself through, with five producers watching you from afar'. Kate Bosworth got the role, but one actor lingered in Sturgess's mind: an effervescent Australian called Teresa Palmer. 'When you do those chemistry tests, they put you through it, so we spent the whole day together,' Sturgess says. 'I was really hoping she was going to get the part, because we got on really well. She's Australian, I'm English, and we were both in Hollywood going, 'Where the hell are we?'' Palmer didn't get the part, but Sturgess never forgot her. And, almost 20 years later, Sturgess and Palmer have been reunited – for Mix Tape, a wistful romantic drama about two people who reunite after 20 years apart. Told in four one-hour episodes (you'll wish it was much, much longer), Mix Tape follows two teenagers, Dan and Alison, as they woo each other with letters and mix tapes in 1980s Sheffield (which means we get some amazing needle drops: the Jesus and Mary Chain, the Cure, Joy Division). Guileless young Dan (Rory Walton-Smith) is completely smitten, but Alison (Florence Hunt) is guarded, desperately trying to hide her difficult family life at home. When she suddenly disappears – for reasons revealed much later – Dan is completely heartbroken. Sturgess, now 47, plays adult Dan: a music journalist who never left his home town and, despite being married, never really moved on from his first love. When he discovers Alison (Palmer) is now a bestselling author living in Sydney, he sends her a friend request online. Letters and cassettes are swapped for Facebook messages and Spotify playlists, but the feelings remain the same. Palmer tells me Sturgess is 'the kindest, warmest, coolest, most effortless actor I've ever worked with. And that dude really has great taste in music,' she adds. 'He is that character – he is the real deal.' Before filming even began, Sturgess and Palmer were sending each other playlists, with Sturgess putting her on to UK rappers like Kano, Dizzee Rascal, Ocean Wisdom, Little Simz. 'It was just like the show,' he says. 'Twenty-odd years later, we were reconnecting.' In his 20s, Sturgess made his name as the romantic lead in the Beatles musical film Across the Universe and opposite Anne Hathaway in One Day, but he has spent the past few years in roles that require guns and running – think Hard Sun and Geostorm. But Sturgess is made for this work, with his crinkly eyed smile and soft eyes. Last year was all about 'rodent boyfriends' – well, you can take your Mike Faist, because Sturgess is the OG rodent boyfriend, with a face particularly suited for yearning. 'I've been working on my yearning,' he laughs. 'I'm actually very attracted to romance stories, more so as I get older. They're just so human – it's literally two people navigating their feelings and their emotions, which is really beautiful and interesting.' Mix tapes were a 'big, big part' of how Sturgess wooed girls. 'It works!' he laughs. 'A mix tape was a really big deal back then! That was why I was so attracted to young Daniel – I was that guy!' As a teenager, he was obsessed with US hip-hop and guitar bands from Northern England; he vividly recalls listening to the Stone Roses on his Walkman while delivering newspapers. 'That's what's so beautiful about Mix Tape – it is about that period when you first fall in love, when you first hear music,' he says. 'Your receptors are just so wide open and everything is so important to you. And that's why, when people ask you what your favourite band is, you'll probably say what your favourite band was when you were 16.' Sturgess had a hand in choosing the music used in Mix Tape and even taught Walton-Smith and Hunt how to make mix tapes on cassette: 'It blew their minds. They were like, 'This is an art form. And this is a lot of work!'' he laughs. 'I was explaining to them how you couldn't just get the music off the internet – you had to own it, all your mix tapes came from what was in your collection. They couldn't believe it.' Director Lucy Gaffy let Sturgess in on the audition process for young Dan; they picked Walton-Smith, a complete newcomer who will be in everything soon. 'There was a real gentleness to Rory that some of the other actors didn't bring,' says Sturgess. 'He's got that natural Northern swagger and charm to him. And it was his first job! He was so wide open and desperate to learn. Beautifully inquisitive. He was brilliant. I'm really proud of what he's done.' When Sturgess was his age, he was too afraid to ask for help: 'I was dropped in at the deep end.' He never formally trained as an actor, but he got the bug as a six-year-old when he was cast in a production of Wind in the Willows. 'I was not very good at school. I struggled to concentrate … I was slightly tarnished with the naughty brush. But I just took to [acting]. I still remember the sense of community, of making something together – which I still crave now.' When he was cast opposite Evan Rachel Wood in Across the Universe, Sturgess was propelled to international stardom. 'I didn't really know what I was doing. I was just a kid from England, playing in bands – and suddenly this movie thing happened. Everything changed quite quickly. I didn't really understand how to navigate myself through all that. I didn't have anybody guiding me. I'd be invited to these big parties, but I would always not go. It was a bit scary, it feels a bit mad.' Over the years, he's been in the very good (Cloud Atlas), the worthy of reappraisal (Across the Universe – 'I feel like if it came out now, it might have done all right,' Sturgess muses), and the very bad (London Fields, a spectacular box office flop overshadowed by the subsequent tawdry trial between his co-stars, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard). He's passed on some big opportunities (playing Spider-Man on Broadway) and said yes to much smaller parts that made him happy. If anything, he's learned to focus on the experience of making something, rather than the reception: 'It's such a rollercoaster ride … If your end goal is just to have it be well received and get all the admiration that might come with that, you're going to fall over a lot. You're going to trip yourself up. If it is well received, that's the icing on the cake. I don't really read reviews. I just don't. I'm not trying to hide from them or anything. I'm just never that interested. If I read a bad one, I'll probably agree, you know? Fair enough!' At the premiere for that casino film 21, which was held in Las Vegas, he remembers his face was plastered across billboards on the Strip, on the blackjack tables at the hotel and even on his room key. What is his relationship with fame now? 'It is easier,' he says. 'I was definitely more famous when I was younger and, sometimes, I wish I'd enjoyed it a bit more. But I shied away from fame a lot. I had it at an arm's length. And, looking back, I think I would have got more out of it if I opened myself up to it and embraced it, if I wasn't quite so wary of it all.' Now, he is recognised 'just enough that I'm quite flattered when it happens'. These days, Sturgess is performing music under the moniker King Curious and his next film will be 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank, alongside Liam Neeson and – you guessed it– Teresa Palmer, who plays his girlfriend again. Is this what they're doing now, a la Fred and Ginger, Kate and Leo, Hanks and Ryan? Sturgess laughs. 'If you could just find somebody you got on with and kept making relationship movies … well, I'd be down!' Mix Tape is on BBC Two and iPlayer
