Changes to our coverage of Swindon for the coming season

Yahooa day ago
We would like to let you know about some changes to our coverage of Swindon Town for next season.
Following a request by the club, we will no longer be providing live updates of pre-match press conferences with Ian Holloway and the playing squad.
We were informed earlier this week that Swindon had decided that they did not want press conferences to be live blogged, as they believe it can misrepresent what is being said, and as a result, we will no longer be able to concurrently report the pre-match messages of Holloway and the players.
This will not stop our reporting from the press conferences, and we will instead look to put the information out afterwards, where we can provide the exact wording of what has been said to ensure that there are no simplifications within the transcript, so that a complete picture can be provided.
Whilst the old live blogs were an accurate representation of what has been said, this will enable us to take time to provide every single detail.
There will also be no further changes to other coverage of matches and news, with every kick and word covered next season, through our regular matchday live blogs, match reports, and reaction.

As ever, we endeavour to provide the most comprehensive and in-depth coverage of Swindon as they look to earn promotion to League One to give fellow supporters the best possible way of staying up to date with the happenings on and off the pitch at the Nigel Eady County Ground.

You can presently get unlimited access to all of this content, as well as the news in the local area, reduced adverts on the website, a digital version of the newspaper, and access to the app, all for £6 for the next six months.
This will also give you access to all of our previous content, like the search for Milan Misun, the story of the end of the Paolo Di Canio era, and the account of Town's 1912 tour of Argentina and Uruguay.
We will also be working to continue to expand our offering, so that our readers get the best picture of what is going on at the club and make it more than worthy of the £1 per month it costs.

Sonay Kartal partnership the perfect antidote for Jodie Burrage

By Mohamed Hamza at Wimbledon After a rolled ankle helped bring an end to her singles run at Wimbledon, Jodie Burrage believes her doubles pairing with friend Sonay Kartal is just what the doctor ordered. Having missed most of last season due to injury, Burrage was poised to make her comeback in fine form, only to suffer her latest setback just three days before her defeat to Caty McNally on Monday. Advertisement But the 26-year-old didn't have to wait long for a return to winning ways, partnering pal Kartal in doubles to take down Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers 4-6 6-1 7-5 to extend her time in SW19. 'It's always nice to go back out there and get a win,' she said. "I needed that a little bit to cheer me up. I was in a foul mood in the morning. I tried to hide it but it didn't go well! 'It's always fun playing with Sonay and when you go back on court you feel better. It was a tight match but we did good to get through. 'The ankle's okay. The physio's not happy that went to three sets but doubles is different to singles. It's not ideal and it will take a few good weeks but that's for after I'm done. Advertisement 'It was a very nice distraction. I wasn't in a great mood and felt disappointed and deflated. If I didn't have doubles, it would've been a tough day.' Burrage and Kartal previous joined forces for runs at Queen's and Eastbourne in the run-up to Wimbledon earlier this season. The pair have also been seen supporting each other's preparations for singles matches, with Burrage helping Kartal warm-up for her second round victory over Viktoriya Tomova. While their personalities are well-matched off the court, Burrage insists they could not be more different on it. 'We've got the same morals, same values and same dry humour but we're completely different in how we perceive ourselves on court and how we are,' added Burrage. Advertisement 'We're completely different but for some reason that works. 'I'm the one who gets pumped up and she's showing absolutely nothing and we need a bit of each other which I think is why we do work and our game styles are different, and that isn't easy for our opponents. 'I would love to keep winning matches with her and we'll do our best to do that.' For the latest action on the British summer grass court season, check out the LTA website.

Siraj's double strike leaves England reeling in second Test

India's Mohammed Siraj celebrates dismissing England captain Ben Stokes for 0 in the second Test at Edgbaston (Darren Staples) Mohammed Siraj took two wickets in two balls, including dismissing England captain Ben Stokes for a golden duck, as India strengthened their grip on the second Test at Edgbaston on Friday. England started the third day on 77-3, still a mammoth 510 runs behind India's first-innings 567 built on captain Shubman Gill's superb 269. Advertisement They now looked to Joe Root (18 not out) and Harry Brook (30 not out), the world's two top-ranked Test batsmen, to narrow the deficit. But in just Friday's second over, Root (22) glanced at fast bowler Siraj only to be caught down the legside by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. And the very next ball, Stokes was undone by a superb rising delivery from Siraj he could only edge to Pant, with England now 84-5. But just as Akash Deep was denied a hat-trick late Thursday after dismissing Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope for ducks, so too was Siraj with new batsman Jamie Smith off-driving his first ball Friday for four. Advertisement India's performance in the field was all the more impressive as they had rested spearhead quick Jasprit Bumrah from their side at Edgbaston. They had done so in order to protect the fitness of the world's number one-ranked Test bowler in a series where he is expected to feature in just three out of five matches. England are 1-0 up after a five-wicket win in the first Test at Headingley. jdg/lp
