
Providence Was Just Awarded Three Michelin Stars
Chef Michael Cimarusti's tasting menu restaurant, Providence, received three Michelin stars at the 2025 Michelin Guide California ceremony, held June 25 in Sacramento, making it one of two restaurants in Los Angeles with the prestigious designation. The only other restaurant in Los Angeles with three stars is Somni, which also received a three-star designation at the 2025 Michelin ceremony.
Cimarusti first opened Providence with business partner Donato Poto in 2005, serving a tasting menu of standard-bearing seafood. It received its first Michelin star when the guide first arrived to Los Angeles in 2008 and was upgraded to two stars in 2009. For decades, Providence has defined upscale dining in Los Angeles, garnering widespread acclaim, earning the top spot on 'Jonathan Gold's 101 Best Restaurants' in the Los Angeles Times, and receiving James Beard award for Best New Restaurant in 2006. Cimarusti has also been nominated for multiple James Beard Best Chef Awards, which he won in 2019.
Providence's seafood-heavy menu has remained relevant for more than 20 years, impressing diners through decades. The restaurant offers fine dining in its truest form: sleek dining rooms, which were redesigned in 2023; white tablecloths; and service that anticipates needs before they are even voiced. Ciramusti's menu weaves through a star-studded list of seafood dishes, like Pacific oysters with dongchimi and lime, red abalone with egg sabayon, and Hokkaido scallop. Providence's uni egg — an egg shell filled with sea urchin, Champagne beurre blanc, and brioche croutons — has become a recognizable signature of the restaurant.

An Edinburgh Michelin-starred chef has announced the closure of the first restaurant he opened in the city. Stuart Ralston shared the news on social media that Aizle, a Michelin guide eatery on Charlotte Square, would close in the coming months. The chef, who won his first Michelin star earlier this year for one of his other Edinburgh restaurants, Lyla, wrote: "After an incredible decade, I have made the decision to close the doors to my first restaurant, Aizle. "Over the past 11 years, we've moved homes, met brilliant people along the way, served some great food and together, built a restaurant to be proud of and had some incredible staff throughout the years. Anyone who was a part of Aizle , thank you." While it was a difficult decision to make, Stuart decided that Aizle's time had come to an end so that he could put even more focus on his other successful Edinburgh restaurants.
