Shares of Lucid Group (NASDAQ: LCID) are climbing on Tuesday. The luxury electric vehicle maker's stock gained 10.4% as of 1:52 p.m. ET. The rise comes as the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) and Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX: ^IXIC) were relatively flat.
Lucid announced that its Grand Touring Air sedan just set a Guinness World Record for the longest drive on a single charge.
Lucid announced today that its premium Grand Touring Air drove 1,205 km on a single charge, besting the previous record by a full 160 km. The win helps reinforce the company's superior battery and drivetrain technology that make it incredibly efficient. EV range is one of the top factors in the average consumer's decision of whether to buy an EV.
This comes on the heels of Lucid's production and delivery report for Q2 2025. The company produced a record 3,863 vehicles and delivered a record 3,309 vehicles, up 38% year over year (YOY). The surge in production and sales is being driven by the company's new Gravity SUV, which is already proving much more popular than the Air sedan.
While Gravity sales have been encouraging, they are still lagging behind targets set by the company. The rollout of its Gravity SUVs is a make-or-break moment for the struggling company, but I have serious doubts they will be enough and that Lucid can execute a turnaround, especially as the broader EV market softens.

Lucid Air Goes 747 Miles on a Charge, Sets New Guinness World Record for EV Range

A new record for electric vehicle range on a single battery charge has been set, and it wasn't Tesla that secured the crown. Instead, California-based luxury startup Lucid now holds a Guinness World Record Holder for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge, and the distance is genuinely impressive. Lucid managed to push its Air Grand Touring sedan to a distance of 747 miles in July, traveling between St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Munich, Germany. Previously, the record was set at 649 miles in June 2025 by a Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ between two Japanese cities. This new record by Lucid is especially impressive considering the route between St. Moritz and Munich includes mountain passes, secondary roads, and highway driving. "This range record represents a significant milestone – it's yet another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid," Eric Bach, senior vice president of product and chief engineer at Lucid, said in a statement. "Our Lucid products combine world-class vehicle efficiency with the most advanced drive units, ultra-high voltage architecture, and battery management technology available today." Now, the standard Lucid Air Grand Touring sports an EPA range of 516 miles, meaning this Guinness World Record was accomplished with unusual tactics of some sort. Lucid turned to Umit Sabanci, a London-based entrepreneur with the Guinness title of most countries visited on a single charge in a production battery electric vehicle, for consultation on how to stretch its luxury liner's capabilities. Sabanci's experience with traversing nine countries on a single charge in a Lucid Air Grand Touring seems to have brought driving insights and efficiency tactics, but it remains unclear if the Lucid Air Grand Touring used was tweaked in any way for this latest trip. "When I completed the nine-country journey in 2024, it was just the beginning," said Sabanci. "This new achievement takes that journey even further. I'm proud to be part of a movement that proves electric mobility isn't just the future; it's already redefining what's possible today." Driving 749 miles without stopping generally takes at least 12 hours, a feat that we're physiologically impressed by to say the least. That distance does give you a wide range of city-to-city connections in the continental U.S. A single charge and some judicious use of the right pedal could ferry you between New York City and a Waffle House in Columbia, South Carolina in an Air Grand Touring. Similarly, it's just about the driving distance between San Diego and California's border with Oregon. Nvidia is again Wall Street's most valuable company. How it got there, by the numbers

Nvidia reached another milestone in its rise to becoming one of the world's most important companies: the first publicly traded company to reach a market value of $4 trillion. Nvidia and other companies benefiting from the boom in artificial intelligence have been a major reason the S&P 500 has recently climbed to a record. Their explosion of profits has helped to propel the market despite worries about possible pain coming for the U.S. economy from tariffs and other policies of President Donald Trump.

Stock Movers: Nvidia, Meta, Hershey

On this episode of Stock Movers: Listen for comprehensive cross-platform coverage of the US market close as heard on Bloomberg Television, Bloomberg Radio, and YouTube with Romaine Bostick, Caroline Hyde, Carol Massar and Tim Stenovec. - Nvidia (NVDA) shares rose after it became the first company in history to achieve a $4 trillion market valuation, cementing its status as a kingpin in the global financial market. The stock has risen more than 20% in 2025, and is up more than 1,000% since the beginning of 2023. Nvidia now accounts for 7.5% of the S&P 500 Index, near its highest influence on record. The latest catalyst for the stock has been a commitment to AI spending from Nvidia's biggest customers, showing that demand for its computing systems remains strong. This includes tech giants Microsoft, Meta Platforms, and Alphabet, who are projected to put about $350 billion into capital expenditures in their upcoming fiscal years, up from $310 billion in the current year, according to the average of analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Those companies account for more than 40% of Nvidia's revenue. - Meta Platforms (META) bought a minority stake in the world's largest eyewear manufacturer, EssilorLuxottica SA, deepening the US tech giant's commitment to the fast-growing smart glasses industry, according to people familiar with the matter. Facebook parent Meta acquired just under 3% of the Ray-Ban maker, a stake worth around €3 billion ($3.5 billion) at market prices, said the people, who asked not to be identified because deliberations are private. Meta, based in Menlo Park, California, is considering further investment that could build the stake to around 5% over time, the people added, though those plans could change. Shares closed higher. - Hershey (HSY) shares tumbled as chocolate makers struggle due to a shortage in cocoa. Chocolate makers were already grappling with record prices for cocoa butter, which provides that melt-in-your-mouth feel. Now they are also paying up for the powder that lends their product its color and taste. Cocoa powder, used in everything from baking mixes to protein shakes, is now in short supply too. Prices for the key ingredient, produced when cocoa beans are ground, surged about 16% in the US over the past year, and are now trading near a record.
